If I seemed harsh on this reel just remember that I have almost 10 DC reels, including the most expensive ones. Im comparing this reel mostly to those.
im gonna buy my new setup for snakehead and barramundi fishing..should i go with this exsence or zillion tw hd..most of my reel are from daiwa and i only own meta mgl..so i need ur experience for dc reel..hope u notice this..it helps me a lot..thanks bro for the great vid btw✨

@@TheMuskyMafia It looks identical to the Curado but the Exsence can handle pretty rough casts
So when i used it, i had been using 12lb braid, and enjoyed never having to pick out wind knots. I did notice at break setting 1 with 1/4 oz lure i would have to watch spool control when windy. Here in AZ when on the water, very often, very windy.
I am also kind of a noob when it comes to baitcasters. I might lose a few feet of distance, but i catch 90% of my fish within 25ft of shore.

The exsence SS was my first dc reel and I’m pretty impressed with it
I go bass and inshore fishing so it matches what I’m looking to use it for.
I dunno..the exsence casts further than my curado k consistently and with less effort, I think with the right conditions and right amount of cast, the K can get it out there but then I run into more casts having to thumb control
The exsence is effortless and the most composed of my reels and if all dc reels are like this, I might be swapping out my lineup to dc (the slx dc from Japan is as low as $158!)
Since you have to face the windy conditions I think the exsence makes a lot of sense for troublefree fishing..and let’s face it, it is the best looking dc reel out off all the sub $300 dc reels
Usually for seabass fishing we use thinner braid (0.20mm) longer rods (9ft+) and heavier lures (25g+) I believe that will make the difference
This is a very good reel for sea fishing! I’m using 0.26 braid, breakings on one and 7’6” Shimano Zodias rod! It’s casting very far with lures over 20g!
That kinda braid is usually a bit thicker that is the main difference between it and a name brand.

Is it better then the Scorpion DC 21 and I just wanted to ask what the difference of the tatula TW 300 and 400 is it just bigger for the 400?
dude 40lb is insanely thick for these DC reels.japanese most often use 1.5-2pe braid around 20-25lb..Even for froging 2pe is enough..
Does it makes difference on bc reels? On spinning yes, huge difference 0.12mm braid outcast 0.16mm. Casting reels seems to have no difference in casting distance.
Americans consider 40lb light braid. And I was not going to shell out $25 for some premium super thin braid just for a couple of videos
@@WarEagleTheBest well if the braid power matches the fish you’re aiming then no need to go for thicker braid, of course it has less digging issues but still you sacrifice some distance.However if you’re fishing in a small pond or from boat in a river then the distance is not an issue.I use 1.5 pe for seabass fishing for 12-35 gr lures.prefer 2pe between 40-60 gr lures.

Picked up this reel, it has replaced all my other reels for targeting artifical lure Delta striper. Great for medium sized swimbaits (3/8-3/4 but I'm sure it'll go 1 ounce just fine).

@@lilhito9498 Shimano Exsence DC SS is the saltwater fine version DC bait caster with a few modifications to its original. It is specifically designed to cast around 7-28g, 1/4-1oz minnow baits the longest.

After stopping by the Shimano booth at ICAST the Curado 200 DC became one of the "got to have some" from the show, for heavier lines on Amazon trips. I have the Antares DC MD and this Exscence DC and haven't played with the settings on the Exsence but it's been a great fresh and salt water reel although not an Antares. I find the Curado 150 DC to fall somewhere in between your test here and the Antares. Earlier this year in Colombia during a lull in the action I really got a chance to mess with the Antares and it's crazy how you can feel the reel learning a new lure as the first half dozen casts get significantly longer and longer. My question for you is have you strength tested that Hercules line? I got the two sizes of stupid expensive Gosen 16 strand (23# and 41#) awhile back after hearing a gushing review of how crazy good it was - and it is, with one exception. The break strength is literally half of the rated pound test. I've switched to Fins braid on the recommendation of a fellow Amazon traveler and it's definitely worth a look, not the thinnest but tests higher than the stated strength and holds up well.
Why are you testing a $600 reel with the cheapest braid you can find, it just doesn’t make sense?
Very interesting. I wonder if that has its bearings packed with grease or something. My Exsence DC SS on #1 will blow up easily on even some pretty aerodynamic baits. It wont outcast my 17 Exsence DC or anything, but it isnt as well behaved for me as it was for you. I feel like it actually is a bit of a juvenile delinquent.

The reel was built for sea bass fishing you testing it with bass lures..
How was the drag on that reel? Mine wasn't usable in the middle range so I had to replace the drag washers.

Just my opinion but you’re using the reel wrong
My experience in non windy conditions, I keep the tension loose, the brake system can handle the overruns. The best part is how effortless casting is with this reel, just a flick and it really gets out there.
Lighter lures I can run at 2-3 and the heavier I go I turn down the brake dial
I was throwing a 110 whopper plopper 3/4 oz on setting 1 with 30 lb braid..and I threw out half the spool.. I have some GoPro vids on it
I think to determine which reel is better when not applied correctly is a poor way to evaluate a reels worth..you took a few casts and can say which is a better reel?
Btw braid can bleed after a few uses and you’re using topwater which doesn’t really soak the line
Pick a better thinner braid and see what happens with your eyeball distance measurements
The features of this reel - saltwater bearings, beefier reel handles, clicking drag and looks better than a curado dc imo (it’s like my curado k just blacked out)
Its just my opinion, but you need to listen better. This was a subscriber reel that I only had a short time with. 40lb braid is the norm here in America and even considered light by many. The spool tension was set loose. Ive had more expensive braid bleed on the 1st cast. "Correct application" is decided by the angler.. not YOU.

I understand it was a subscriber reel and that you had very limited time with the reel..which also means your experience and evaluation is also limited. At best, your experiment is nothing more than initial impressions of a reel, hardly the basis for determining what is a better reel.
40lb braid might be the norm for some but is a bit heavy when tossing 1/4 and 1/2 oz lures. Heavier braid equals bigger line diameter and has a limiting effect on casting distance.
“Loose” is not very scientific and my experience with the reel differs from yours. I have no where close the experience with all those reels you have but I do have some experience with shimano reels and more experience with the exsence SS dc than you do. I see from other sources that loosing the tension to the point where the spool can barely move side to side is a starting point for many. I found this reel can go a quarter..maybe half a turn looser and the brake still has no problem controlling overruns and as a result goes further than an estimated 50 yards+
Imo, the “distance sweet spot” is having the tension looser than I do on my K and other baitcasters.
You are correct..application is based on the user. I did not imply that folks cannot use a reel outside its intended purpose..however when the manufacturer builds and tunes a reel with a dedicated purpose, that probably should be taken into account..don’t you think?
Again comparing my experience with your one trip test, using non optimal conditions and using eyeball distance test measurements as the only means for recommendation is hardly a qualified opinion.
But that being said, I don’t have a problem with your channel and distance recording videos as long as you don’t have problem with people whose opinions differ than yours. You channel provides access to reels that most of us don’t have or want to buy, and as fishermen we all have a tendency to like new things.
As far as the braid comment, you sound like so many other shills who use the words “amazing” after a few uses of a product. I’m not going to get in the way of people trying to make their money, but is runs parallel to the way your review your reels, comes off superficial to me.
For context, I really like the exsence SS and dc technology. I’m looking to grab an slx dc and another exsence (the prices are really good right now) and want to broaden my opinion.
To be fair, the exsence has had the same issue that plagued you curado k which is a weak clutch spring. Luckily, I bought a number of spare curado parts which are interchangeable with the exsence SS.

of course, all the 4-5 settings will perform the same in the same situation. it is a mode, not the braking power.
