Love diaper bags! You seem to be ready! Mom of 3 here with 4th on the way! A couple recommendations: If breastfeeding you will def need a cover. And a small wet bag for soiled clothing is really convenient. A baby blanket in your bag or in car seat is nice to have for multi-purposes such as warmth, blocking sun, nursing, or even to wipe a large mess in an emergency. Snacks for you (like protein bars or trail mix) is also nice to have on hand bc you will get hungry! Congrats! First one is always memorable and precious.
I had my first last october alhumdulilah. I was just watching videos after videos and making my essential list but now that it has been a while since he's been here ive learnt a lot this is what has been most handy. Diaper bag: -mat -mam 5 oz bottle -dummy clip -5 nappies -nappy sacks -wipes -1 spare outfit -mittens -socks -burp clothe Big essentials: -Deffo recomend getting the 'next to me' so convenient for middle of night feeds. -madela electric pump for those months when he sleeps the entire night i used to pump so i have the extra milk and then id freeze them and ready for him.come ramadhan like that i could keep all my fasts alhumdulilah - i made sooooo much use out of the sleepy head delux he was in there whenevr we were downstairs or when he was always sleeping constantly and had guests in and out -barely used the moses basket no need the sleepy head was better as i can see him.if we were sitting on the sofa - boifun camera Bathing: - angel care bath seat -aveeno body wash -hooded towel. The robes look cute but not the most practical. -quite a few mini face towels to scrub Baby care: -aveeno cream - sudo cream -epimax great for eczema -nose freeda -neem oil is great for healing skin makes thier skin so smooth -electric nail file -calpol for when they have injections -vaseline -infacol trust me when theyre new born they are so gassy and when you've massaged them done everything give them this and it works instantly -ace for whites stain remover . spray straight after the stain and works wonders. I keep all these things in a caddy next to his bed and his travel changing mat next to it aswell. You can make their room nice but realistically you'll be too tired to move out of bed. So keep her with you For mum: -nursing bras withclips -elvie milk catcher for when you're constantly leaking. The pads weren't the best. At first, your milk might not be a lot but starts to increase after a few weeks so be patient -lansino nipple jell when your nips gets sore Feeding : Avoid silicon bips it'll start to smell use fabric ones when feeding and specifically the one ones with a neck padding because washing their face can leave water under chin leading to rash. -get them practising using straw cups strengthens their muscles -go straight to whole foods rather than puree if you can and avoid sweet things at beginning more veggies to start with. One big lesson avoid getting big expensive items just because a lot of people rave about it. I was gifted the baby Bjorn bouncer and i hardly used it because i never got my baby used to sleeping in that. Also at the beginning you're going to be an emotioanl wreck but IT GETS BETTER trust with time. Watch emma.hubbard she gives great advice and tips I can go on but if you have any questions plz ask.
Ma shaa' Allah Allahuma Barik sister, so inspiring when you mentioned pumping as a way to keep up with your Ramadan fasts! Would you mind sharing more advice about it? I don't know many sisters who have been able to breastfeed whilst fasting during Ramadan and with Ramadan around the corner I'm glad I found a positive story through your comment, may Allah bless you!
@munaqabah Aww jazakilah. Well I just thought if I eat normal amount at sehri but have a good amount of water it'll keep me hydrated for the next day. I used to have 1litre carton of coconut water almost every day sip it when you pray taraweeh. You'll have some nutrients in your body to feed for next day. You're not going to have plenty but enough to keep them satisfied. I thought he'd constantly want feeding because of it but no it was just the same as outside of ramadhan. Then again each baby is different and also it depends on the age. Lol the only motivation was I am nooot doing qazas after and I don't want to be one of those who have 60 plus qazas due to pregnancy and breastfeeding. Even when I was pregnant I still fasted. BUT if your doctor recommends not to, then take their advice. I guess a lot of people like to take the leniency and not fast but they're going to have to at some point. 1 fast in ramadhan is not ever the same outside in terms of reward. So... your choice. Allah reward you for asking.
@munaqabah What is your background if you don't mind me asking? Qaza is قضاء. Basically when you have to make it up after, if you miss a fast/salah. It is compulsory in one's lifetime to make them up otherwise your family will have to give fidya(compensation) for each one missed.
Tip: If you're planning on breastfeeding then add a breastfeeding shawl for when out. If formula milk: purchase those little formula powder containers and a thermostat! Or you can just keep the readymade formula in your bag as they don't need to be heated.
I know this sounds weird but throw in a couple q tips, neutral bow, and muslin blanket. You don’t know how many times a q tip came to the rescue for baby eye gunk or boogers. You will also learn that bows will disappear like socks. I always kept a little bow in my bag because her hair went every other way. The muslin blanket, babies are messy! So I always kept an extra one in case the one I had was soiled, she needed a bit more warmth, etc.
The baby drawers are gorgeous. A normal bag for diaper bag is more practical than a baby bag, so the one u chose is good. Plus u can put your bits inside.
MashaAllah I love this. I remember starting my new mom journey and had the neatest bag and somehow became baby bag, purse, doctor visits follow-up notes. lol I wouldn’t change it for the world.
I love these videos too and I’m not even pregnant lol. I think you’re well prepared! Only thing I would personally add is a thin muslin blanket because they have so many uses. My favorite brand for them is Aden & Anais, but Amazon has a bunch of cute ones too. Congratulations and can’t wait to see the baby room tour. 😊💕🌸☁️✨
The comb you will not need for a while, Zaina. The other things are gr8, but also consider adding another burp cloth. Breast/period pads for yourself. A bottle of water for yourself as u get REALLY thirsty during breast feeding. Another outfit, 2 are better than one. And a small snack for yourself as u get REALLY hungry during breastfeeding times. And remember to take ibuprofen or some other painkillers 30 mins to 1 hour before breastfeeding as the afterpaine are awful as your uterus shrinks to its normal size the pain is horrendous, Zaina. Your body will feel 'strange', what with a saggy belly, that sort of thing, but u won't care as u will have your bundle of joy. Btw, iv had 5 kids of my own, 4 girls and a boy so quite experienced in this sort of thing. I wish u all the luck in your delivery and may Allah give u shifa soon, inshAllah. ❤
Lovely! You'll want a separate pouch for the clothes, burp cloths, and pacifier wipes. You'll inevitably have to put the diaper stuff down on surfaces that you don't want touching the clean clothes. And yes, I know you can always disinfect it, but sometimes In a pinch, you won't have the time/ disinfectant to do so! Also, you will have to carry bottles with you... a compartment for some bottles and formula are a must. If you are taking breast milk with you, you might want an insulated pouch for the bottles. :)
Also for your things, you might want to carry a small crossbody/bum bag to have easy access to your phone, sanitizer, and wallet without going through the bigger bag.
