Is Bucky O’Hare The Best Star Wars Copy You’ve Never Heard Of? | SYFY WIRE - Розваги
Bucky desperately need a reboot. This series is an absolute perfect
"They even managed to introduce every main character."
Bruiser: 😠
The theme song in the toy commercial replaces Jenny with Bruiser since we didn't get a Jenny toy until Boss Fight Studio put one out a couple years ago (it's awesome).
Nice overview. I love Bucky and it broke my heart as a kid when the show was cancelled and the toy line ended. I had all 10 figures and both vehicles, though sadly most of that was either sold or tossed leaving me with just Bucky. It's also unfortunate the comics that were exclusive to Italy never were released here and are so hard to get and the cartoon still hasn't officially been released on DVD in region 1. On the plus side, the new figures from Boss Fight Studio are fantastic and hopefully the line can continue. They're even doing a Mimi LaFloo! And we'll always have the NES game which is pretty great.
So many people don't remember Bucky O'Hare, I had to immediately smash that like button!
How could they forget!?
@@SyFyWire I don't even know! It always blew my mind so few people seemed to remember it! I could understand newer generations, but even people my own age, a couple decades ago, didn't even remember it! 😩
Didn't know Marvel co-produced this.
Loved the theme song.
Loved the Konami games.
I was one of the few people that knew it was based on an comic book.
I had issue #1 from 1991 and wish I still had it.
It must be worth a lot of money now.
I loved watching this every Saturday. I had all the old action figures from this.
You forgot to mention that Jenny was voiced by Kathe Shophy. The same person who voiced Sally Acorn from Sonic SATAM and Lola Bunny from Space Jam.
Kath Soucie is classic!
Jenny, and pretty much every female on the show, was voiced by Margot Pinvidic.
Wish that they would bring that show back it would be awesome
This theme song still randomly pops in my head!
"BUCKY"!💪🏾
🎶 Bucky! Captain Bucky 'OHare. Mutants and aliens and toads beware. 🎶
@@SyFyWire 1 tear drops. ..😢🔥
Now this is a show that needs a remake.
Scott McNeil as dead eye is awesome. Feels like he only did bad ass characters
"Bucky"!! "Captain Bucky O'Hare"!! 🎶🎵🎶🎵
"He goes where no ordinary rabbit would dare!🎶🎶🎶🎶
What we really need is a Bucky O'Hare and Biker Mice from Mars Crossover. Just think of the PUNS!!!!!
Does it count as a Star Wars reference that Bucky O'Hare looks a lot like Jaxxon or Jax from Star Wars Comics? Only two green space rabbits I know of.
no.... it doesn't count.
Lol. I was just thinking how there was no mention of Jaxxon on here. Missed opportunity.
Got in an argument on which one came first. What do you think?
Found this video looking for more information about how close these green bunny's are.
Absolutely classic series and one of the best theme songs in my opinion.
Agreed!
Maybe a demented Duck Dodgers from the 24 and a half Century?
Now you gotta do Captain Simian and the space monkeys.
I forgot about Captain Bucky O'hare. Man, that was like 30 years ago.... Damn I'm old.
His ship is named "Righteous Indignation." To this day that is still one of the most badass ship names ever.
our dude has been looking good during quarantine, keep it up! Also an EYDK on Big Wolf on Campus would be amazing!
It's crazy cuz as a yung kid I couldn't tell it was only 13 episodes..This is a prominent staple in my childhood
U need to do T-Rex,stunt dawgs, double dragon and thundercats
When i see Bucky O' Hare i think of Howard the Duck and the guardians of the galaxy.
I hope those two cross over one day, we can only hope.
I mean we kinda already got that Howard the Duck had cameos in both films and was in the final battle with the Guardians in Endgame
Brooks Williams Yeah it would just be neat if marvel did some Bucky or revamp the franchise for movie idk, maybe am overthinking.
@@SkyLizardGirl it would be a great idea though 💯
One of my greatest childhood loves. Still have the toys my mom got for my brother and I.
I definitely remember there being some sort of Bucky O'Hare arcade cabinet too
Dude, i watched the HELL out of this show when i was a kid, i didn't know it only had limited episodes till i got older and tired to hunt it down. but the theme song.....is just too epic. i still rock that song at age 37.
right, that big scene in episode 4 when Han convinces his people to join the Rebels. and his best friend, a quacking ninja.
I haven't seen all of the new films but from what I've heard, that would have been an improvement.
I wanted to catch this show back in the day at but it played when I couldn't catch it. Kids nowadays don't know the struggle. The action figures were sick!
I had the toad air marshal toy as a kid. Now I realize why, it was probably all that was left in the toy store.
i want to give this gem a rewatch.
I used to have the 1st appearance of Bucky O'Hare...which was in Continuity's Echoes of Future Past #1.
Loved this show!
Loved the NES game and loved the arcade game.
Wish i got the toys as a kid.
I had a friend who had the Bucky o hare action figure when I was 7 in 1991 loved both the video game and the TV series too😊
Let's croak us some toads!
@@SyFyWire 📼
Only had a couple as a kid but been collecting the vintage and new Boss Fight Studio toys as an adult!
@@LlanoRiverBlue 🙃
Do an episode on Bonkers!
I loved Bonkers.
The Star Wars marvel comics also had that Green Rabbit too... there’s gotta be another connection there
I still have the NES game as well as several of the original comics from the late 70s, early 80s.
I actually met Michael Golden 10yrs ago. Nice guy
I think Willy is supposed to be R2D2. He's a smart tech guy, and he's the most alien of the main because he's the only human in the Aniverse
have you guys done Captain Simian & the Space Monkeys yet?
I wish Bucky O'Hare had a second season, and in one of the series had included a crossover it had got stuck into another dimension within an entered into across within an anniversary within an alternate dimension
Hey remember when Star Wars was actually good? And people ripped it off unironically?
I had the NES game. I didn’t know it was anything more. That’s crazy!
I love this show. But also, why is there no EYDK: Mighty Max?
How about recapping Captain Simian and the Space Monkeys?
Been getting this add for months now. Figured I'd give it a shot.
Bucky O’Hare the nostalgia
So good this series
I actually watched the show it was pretty great I think it's deserve a reboot
I had no idea this character even existed till Death Battle pitted him against Fox Mccloud a forgotten character from a forgotten franchise lol.
Alright I am putting these up for future suggestions. 1) War Planets (Cover Reboot first if need be) 2) Captain Simian & the Space Monkeys
I had a bucky o haire figure when I was little
i had had issue 1 at some point. wish i still did
Short-lived just like Firefly. The nes game really did this series justice.
Thanks for reminding me about it
if they gonna do a Bucky O' Hare reboot., they need to keep what worked in the original., (ie First Mate Jenny's relationship with Wily Dewitt etc)., and get rid of what didn't work in the original altogether., first the characters:
Bucky: Poe Dameron/Kanan Jarrus.,,.
First Mate Jenny: Ahsoka Tano( Clone Wars Movie & Season 1 version)/Sabine Wren SW Rebels/ and 2012's TMNT's Shinigami.,,.
Wily Dewitt: a hybrid of Donatellos from 1987's & 2012's TMNT and Rise Of The TMNT.,,.
Deadeye Duck: Zeb Orrelios.,,.
AFC Blinky: Chopper.,,.
Bruiser: a hybrid of 2012's TMNT's & Rise Of The TMNT's Raphael.,,.
Komplex: Snoke/ Palpatine.,,.
Toad Air Marshall : General Hux.,,.
ToadBorg: Kylo Ren.,,.
Al Negator: Hondo Ohnaka.,,.
second the look., tone & feel of the reboot: Adventure Time., Star Vs The Force of Evil., Steven Universe., Invader Zim., Gravity Falls.,
2012's TMNT., Rise Of The TMNT., & Modern Star Wars( Clone Wars., Rebels and the New Movie Trilogy).,,.
I agree the relationship between the two just felt weird to me I wish it was like a brother and sister type of relationship instead of begin a romantic one.
I still have those exact same toys
You forgot to mention Jaxon from the Star Wars Marvel comic.
I loved it as a kid. I read the comic and adored the toys. You missed the obvious connection. Jaxxon the green rabbit in the Star Wars comics.
Love bucky o hare
Dead Eye Duck is Rat Trap in Beast Wars (Beasties)
I had toys and played the arcade game in the early 90s. Didn’t even know it was a cartoon
I remember getting up at 4 am (3 hours before school) just to catch Bucky O’Hare on UHF
I’d love to be able to play the 4-player arcade game again - MAKE IT HAPPEN Arcade1up !!
Y'all should do a video for Pirates of Dark Water
I recently reacted to this series on the Stardust app. I wish it had lasted longer.
I agree that it is called the aniverse because they are all animals. I always felt this was closer to Flash Gordon than Star Wars though. B~)
This show should be more known. I really appreciate your work!
Still happy I got the comic after all these years. The artwork is still PHENOMINAL!!!
You just became my best friend. I don't know anyone that remembers this. THANK YOU!!!
Marcus, I think this is the beginning of a b-e-a-utiful frienship!
So every show in space is a Star Wars copy? Ok. Bucky is clearly the best Star Wars "copy".
How can he not bring up Jaxxon!? Jaxxon is a Star Wars character that is a Lepi, a green rabbit humanoid. He wears red, piolots a ship, and shoots bad guys with 1 liners. He's basically Bucky. Here's his Wookieepedia article:
starwars.fandom.com/wiki/Jaxxon
No one will dare try to outfight Bucky O'Hare. It's awesome to find out more about our unique and universe saving space team. Stay safe and keep it up!
Man, there's a lot of great Canadian voice talent in this who just so happened to have also been in Beast Wars and the Unicron Trilogy too! Why have I never watched this show?
Captain Bucky O'Hare! Mutants and aliens and Toads beware!
Holy crap it's my childhood
One of the greatest shows of my childhood.
I’ve never met anyone else ever who has also seen and remember this show.
I like this episode, like you said the cartoon was based on the Bucky O'Hare comic book from Continuity Comics in the mid-1980s. If you haven't read it find some back issues it is a great read.
This series is so masculine. I love it
Wait....you brought up Dead Eye Duck but haven't brought up Scott McNeil?! A voice actor who played in Beast Wars, Gundam Wing and many other shows covered on your channel?!
Do Ronin Warriors
In regard to the toad planet looking like the Death Star: Id actually say it looks more like Coruscant the Imperial Homeworld which coincidentally debuted in the first novel of the "Thrawn Trilogy" Heir to the Empire which was first published in *gasp* 1991! Looks like your Bucky O'Hare=STAR WARS theory could be deeper than you thought. The Force is truly strong with this one. 😁
The show was amazing, but a loooooot of this video is a stretch. Good to see more people talking about the franchise though! Extremely surprised you didn't mention the very recent toy line from Boss Fight Studio though! They're WAY better than the original toy line, and Bucky doesn't look deformed in it like the original (the original Bucky toy in particular looked like crap)
It took me like 10 minutes to realize his shirt was in the font of Martin the TV show wondering why or if he knew
I hate how these SYFY videos do not do the research about the subjects they talk about in these videos.
I watched this show when I was a freshman in college back in 1991. Yes the characters look simular to Star Wars, and it is a good series. The creators were trying to compete with Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles, but failed. I love Bucky O Hare. I wish they would bring it back. I also heard rumors that a live action movie is in the air, don't know when it will begin filming, but who knows.
Bucky O' Hare and SWAT Kats are the two 90s shows that really needs a genuinely good reboot, SWAT Kats got close in the mid-late 2010s but CN denied the show so it was canceled (even though it had been kickstart funded).
but honestly, Bucky can be compared to Star Fox, which ironically bucky predates.
I absolutely do not remember this at all I was not born yet this is like discovering history in a much more fun way than finding in a textbook though.
If Netflix was able to allow all the episodes of Code Lyoko, Why can't they do the same with all of these old school cartoons? IJS
Please do Robotech! It’s my favorite cartoon show from the 80’s!
They need to bring this back. No reason for cartoons to be anchored to toy sales
Hey. HEY. My childhood. My childhooooooood.
This was my sh** growing up
Nickelodeon show and October?
Ahhh! Real Monsters
Are You Afraid of the Dark?
Maybe something else?
Captain Planet,Freakazoid(Dexter Douglas),Gargoyle And BuckyOHare need Live Action Movie like The Power Ranger,TMNT,Sonic The Hedgehog AndDetective Pikachu!
There's also a lot of voice actors you might know I found one and one episode that that sound like double D from Ed Edd n Eddy
Dead eye duck sounds like violent j
Loved this cartoon saw it when I was 7 in 1991 to bad it only lasted 13 episodes ☻
Dead Eye is just Rocket raccoon
i had Bucky O'Hare action figure when i was a kid and then some older kid stole it!
he forgot alot of that show also referenced buck rogers
I remember playing the bucky o hare arcade game by konami
Finally someone remembers this awesome silly toon. Classic.
I first read Bucky OHare in an anthology comic called Echo of Futurepast in the early 80s. I don't recall seeing his own books. I also think they left Jenny (they call her a Witch Cat in the comics) out of the toy lineup. I know figures of her were produced in limited numbers much later.
