  • "On paper, I’m not supposed to be here. When I started boxing, I was 27 and never played a sport. I train 6 times a week while balancing a demanding full-time career at Google. I don’t see women of my heritage in combat sports. Every fight I’ve had, I’ve always been told I don’t look like a boxer, and yet I kept winning all those fights. Today I represent team Bangladesh, a developing nation that is trying to establish a foothold in sports. Like me, Bangladesh isn't supposed to win on the world stage. But I intend on changing that. My love for boxing has driven me to reach for the stars as I hope to qualify for the Paris this summer and the IBA World Championships later this year. I think when it's all said and done and if I’m able to inspire girls all over the world, then my time in boxing will have been worth everything I’ve put in."
