Ive been rebuilding those pumps for 40 years. Best thing to do is drill and tap the side cover to take a large BSP plug or you can use a fine pitch metric one. There are sum sidecovers that were factory fitted with fill plugs into a boss cast on the cover. No need to remove the cover to refill. Then with the level I fit a banjo fitting to the cambox and run a length of clear tubing from it up to one of the cover bolts holding it in place and turn the end 180 so its facing down making a gooseneck. Fill the pump with oil, mark on the tube then you can see if its filling up due to backleage from the elements. Remove the excess fuel/stop control cover and smear grease over the two arms and refit. Remove diaphragm case and do the same to the brass yoke and the foot of the governor.
Such a simple reliable pump that just keeps going and going.

Cool, just at that point now, putting the pump back on after having it serviced, came back with a note to add oil before use, now I know, thanks again

My old man's powermajor has quarter butter bolt tapped in the cover just next to the big S for simms and he used to squirter engine oil every now and again , I think the pump has been serviced twice e so far the 1st time was when he had the plug on the side cover probly mid sixties and 1981 when I was 6yrs old ,the 1st 6 years he owned it he did contract ploughing with a 10 furrow chamberlain plough , sometimes up to 500 acres ! he ran it 24hrs a day had a bloke help him , not sure how many hrs the engine did but it was reringed in the first 10 yrs and the mechanic found a compression ring was missing on a cyclinder he reckoned it was missing from new ! Dad didn't think it pulled any better after the rering .R

I’ve got an older Simms apart right now. It was full of water and in rough shape. I had to machine the cases to accept modern bearings as the originals are hard to source. I’m getting it back together now but do you know where barrels and plungers are available? These look not too bad but I’ll have to see how much leak off they have...

Unfortunately it is very hard to get new old stock for Simms Fuel Injectors. Best bet is to find a diesel mechanic that could refurbish them or a wreckers for replacements

Can I leave the injector on the tractor to complete this? And should I replace the paper gasket?

It can stay on the tractor for this. If the gasket is in good condition, it's fine to reuse, but if it's torn, compressed, or uneven, it's probably best to replace it.
