Red - History (it’s a “blood” subject)
Yellow - Science (it’s an “energy” subject)
Blue - English (it’s an “idea” subject. Ideas are blue to me because they come out of the sky.)
Green - Math (it’s a “money” subject)
I use both digital and paper for productivity too, and need both to function the best I can! All notes are taken and archived digitally, as well as tasks and events. Every week, I shortlist and schedule the tasks I will work on for the week ahead and write them into my paper planner, which will then also track their progress and completion. Lastly I have a physical and digital space for brain dumps and capturing sudden/random ideas, for me to use as and when I want/need.
I use both digital and paper, but I find myself quite disorganized because I don't have a strong system of reviewing and archiving things. I also have a lot of misplaced guilt over swapping around ny planning systems, like using different apps or a bullet journal or note paper or even designing my own printables, but then I had a thought the other day that these are all just tools; a good toolbox has a variety of tools to tackle any project. Even a tool like a screwdriver requires different bits (flat, Phillips, Robertson, etc. and in different sizes) to be flexible and adapt to different projects. So I'm becoming more comfortable bouncing around different systems and learning that there are general themes and needs for me to meet in each system: lists, appointments/deadlines, personal notes, etc. I love paper planning but the convenience of some digital tools can't be beat!
Very well written! Highly suggest checking out dollar tree weekly planner.for a functioning. Inexpensive and doesn't contain have the guilt imo.
Yess! One of my biggest issues with paper planning is that I’m a HUGE “collections” girly lol. I have a list for so many things like games to play, horror movies to watch, on and on. Those are so perfectly suited to digital (Apple reminders/notes depending on what the list is about) cause maintaining those lists and checking things off as I’ve watched becomes a mess. Some things are so perfect for digital
I love this! I'm going to watch again when it's quiet and I pay better attention. I am an ALL paper girl. Systems and organizations is my problem. Thanks!
I have just tried printing planner inserts and got so frustrated that I decided to buy a plain Moleskine. Thank you for this video. 😌🙃🙂
Swinger here 🙋🏻♀️. Thanks for being so relatable and helpful

Math was Red, Science was Blue, English was Green, History was Yellow, and then Purple was either the extras notebook/folder, or whatever my elective was so usually a more specific science or english class like Biology or American Literature.
I honestly would love to have an only analogue system but it would have to be all in the same notebook and carrying a notebook + pens for organizing is just so irritably impractical - for other people, at least. I prefer to carry a backpack with me everywhere but it is significantly bulkier than most purses and I get a lot of like... I dunno, dirty looks? Judgmental sneers? From strangers and sometimes even family members when I accommodate myself with certain things like a backpack with all my needs or over-ear headphones to dampen sound.
SOCIAL STUDIES WAS ALWAYS GREEN 😅
Dollar tree has great weekly planners. Incredibly functional, and super cheap so you dont have the guilt! I use to buy one every year and actually used it. Also my library has free printing, so im able to get by with printing out a montly calendar.
I'm so glad you said math is red... When you brought up English, I was like "I don't remember any subject EXCEPT math is definitely red!"
So excited to watch this once I get off work! Missed seeing your videos in my subscription feed on Sundays
I plan both digital and paper. Digital is mostly for work.
Have you looked into note taking apps? I use good notes and create my own pages in Canva. I use mine as a structured planner with premade pages, but I also have a lot of blank pages that I essentially set up in a bullet journal style. I’m able to save and upload pictures from the Internet, copy and paste and move things around a lot easier but I also get the actual handwriting aspect with the Apple Pencil, I’ve been doing this for about two years and I feel like it really has meshed a lot of other things I like about digital and paper while still primarily paper/handwritten feel.
English: Red
Math: Blue
Science: green
History: yellow
Red is my favorite color 😊
I'm trying to figure out how to navigate both and have been for a while. Keep these videos coming! I like the validation that I can do both!
Same! Planning is fun for me, but I don't like it taking up too much time because I can get carried away and don't like the feeling/anxiety that I need to plan before/to complete a task. I use These videos as gentle suggestions that could help me on my planner journey and can easily see what works for me, what won't work for me, and the in betweens
The only thing I use digital for is my work calendar. I still write my schedule out on my paper planners to combine work and personal.
Great video...I too use a hybrid digital and paper system, it just works for me and has for years now.
I'm glad you posted this video. I too suffer from acute pendulumitis between digital and analog.
For me it goes:
"ah I need this digital thing to deal with work stuff" → "ah this is cool" → more and more digital → "paper is waaay better!" → "I gotta mix the two somehow" 🤔.
And then back to the start...
I think the point that you made that the *archive* can be the digital thing will be key to me. A huge part of me loooves Obsidian; but if I am honest with myself, I prefer pen and paper for capture. These don't have to conflict!
I use both. I would be lost without digital, all of my appointments go into my Google calendar, I rely on those electronic reminders. I mainly use my paper planner for to-do lists currently, but I’m toying the idea of using my planner to track a cleaning schedule, notes and stuff for the house.
I’ve found a balance of digital and paper that I’m super happy with!
I plan ahead and time track/record on paper. I build my daily Bujo style list in my reminders app/widgets on my phone. At the end of the day, I review my completed reminders from my digital Bujo style list and do a daily journal/reflection detailing the out of the norm tasks. Reviewing the digital completed list also reminds me of things that happened through the day that I want to write down.
For example, when I ticked off doing the dishes, I was reminded that my 3 year old said something funny while I was doing it and I’ll write down that cute little quote or that she had a major meltdown and was very tired after daycare today.
So when you "ticked off doing the dishes" was that on paper or digital? I struggle because Alot of taskS are chores/repeating and I don't want to spend time writing them down. I want them to be able to be recurring, without receiving reminders, and just "tick" them as you noted. I also don't want to pay any subscription. I also don't need a review/analysis after planning. I find that redundant for my life. Would love to hear you suggestions.
Can you define bujo as well?
Math for me was blue because it was calming and English/Language Arts was red because I loved it so much 😊
I changed colors every year, I needed the change! English was an SLE, so it did not always required its special color, it depended on the prof.
For me the process of constant rewriting was the main reason I switched to digital planning recently
Your suggestion of processing the written content each week is the source of my question. I have been using rings lately because I like similar notes to be together. I call it commonplaceing. I don’t like doing this in notebooks because the info is not always written at the same time. So, using your suggestion, I’d transfer my written notes to my digital archive once a week, which would possibly eliminate the stress of having notes from a 10 part webinar being written across several daily notes pages? The notes are written down, but they’re digitally archived each week. They might be on pages 15-16, 19, 21, and 25, but I’m not stressed because I’m not going back through the notebook to find them on all those pages. I’m going to the archive.
I digital plan on my Android tablet (stylus) and keep a pocket journal for quick notes. It's th3 bes5 of both worlds 😮
I’m a paper girl but I’m trying to also do some digital. Getting an iPad helped some. I was thinking about getting a sterling ink because I keep going between daily and weekly and need room for both. What kind of pens work in that one? I like fine point gel but they don’t work in everything.

planning is ❤ and fun but i can get carried away by spending more time planning instead of doing. and dont like the anxiety associated with overplanning and the struggle to actually complete a task without planning it first
Would you be able to link the video to your phone setup?
Haha, I think I always used blue for math! Red was history or social studies I think🤔 not sure what English was... 😬 maybe green?
Please provide how to change phone widgets again. Thanks
You talked about changing you phone screen to make it less of a time drain. Where is the video on how you did that?
Math: red. English: Blue. Science: Green. Social studies: yellow.
Same and i had orange and purple for electives
English red, math blue, science green, social studies yellow? It’s hard to remember!
MATH WAS BLUE BLUE BLUE; Science was green, English was Pink - funny now today pink is Admin, green is event & social and fun, and work is blue - funny I bet there is a correlation there
Looks like a good video, and I really wanted to watch it, but the music was so distracting that I couldn't get very far. I enjoy your content, but this music was out of place. It took away from what you were saying imo.
There was music? I never even registered it until I saw this comment and replayed some of the video. FWIW, I was watching and listening on an iPad, no earbuds (which would have made a difference).
English: Blue
Math: Red
Science: Green
Social Studies: Yellow
😅
Social studies was always green for me because earth 💚
Yellow was Math Red was English Green was Social Studies Purple was Word Building Blue was Science. It was the colors of our curriculum books in Christian school 0/10 do not recommend 😅
