Thanks! My pastor (non-disp pretrib) and my brother (disp pretrib) both tell me that all of Matthew 24 cannot be about 70 AD because the sun an moon were not darkened and the stars did not fall to earth. I take them to Isaiah 13 and Ezekiel 32 and show them this is prophetic judgement language, and they counter that the OT passages have a near and future fulfillment, and that they point to the time of the Second Coming when the sun and moon will be darkened and the stars will fall. I don't know how to counter that. Some OT passages regarding other prophecies (especially those of Christ's First Advent) clearly had a near and future fulfillment, so how do I combat that dual fulfillment regarding this de-creation judgement language being applied to a future Second Coming?
It appears to me that for someone to claim a prophecy has a near fulfillment and a far future fulfillment to where they are in time they would have to be a prophet. Not all prophecies have a near and far future fulfillment so only someone who had it revealed to them by God would know if there is a dual fulfillment. So if your pastor or brother can show they have the gift of prophecy, then we all should listen to them. If your pastor or brother do not have the gift of prophecy, then they're just speculating/guessing. I think prophecy passed away when the completion (perfection) of the Mosaic covenant took place in 70 AD (Hebrews 8 : 13 and 1 Corinthians 13 : 9 - 10). This also matches up with the seventy sevens ending in the first century which included visions and prophecy being sealed up (Daniel 9 : 24).
My comments under this video are not meant whatsoever to be antagonistic to Jewish people at all. My comments are criticisms of the errors of Futurist Eschatology in Rabbinic Judaism and Futurist Eschatologies in Christianity. From a cultural point of view the Earliest Christians were Jewish! The preterist Eschatology assumes Jewish proselytizers of the Testimony of Christ our Lord, his accomplished work of Atonement and Salvation for all and the spreading of the Great Commission to the ends of the earth! Full Preterism that assumes the completed work of Christ is the acceptance of Fullfillment and is still Jewish as it's Earliest adherents were. What we find today in Rabbinic Judaism is the error of a discontinuity and departure from Fullfillment. This has lead to Eschatological theories in Christianity that have also suspended The Fullfillment and the "it is finished" understanding and caused ambiguous fuzzy confusing theories of The End Times that have been nothing but a impediment to the Great Commission and more. Unfulfilled notions cause and create newspaper Eschatology. Every generation goes through the same bankrupt end times hysteria and will continue to unless this crisis of Eschatology is arrested. So far from what I've heard Dr. Gary Demar is spot on 💯%! I continue to listen to these videos.
Would Gary consider debating Dr. James Tour? I would like to hear Dr. Tour’s rebuttals to Gary’s understanding of the “end times”. These conversations need to continue to take place. ua-cam.com/video/L1B3Oavzslk/v-deo.htmlfeature=shared
I personally reject Dr. Tour's understanding of Eschatology. It seems similar to Dr. Michael Brown's version. Watch Gary's videos where he debates Dr. Brown. It would essentially be the same between Dr. Tour and Dr. Demar in my opinion.
He uses dispensational arguments that have been refuted by numerous people for decades. I would be glad to sit down and discuss eschatology, but the focus would have to be narrow. I don't want to hopscotch all over the Bible.
. i hope you keep these going. many like me use youtube!

@@garydemar Dr. Demar your work on Eschatology is excellent. And it is a much needed game changer.
