  • In this video I cover my painting process for the hull on the Stapley, a 1971 wooden Ski race boat that I am currently restoring.
    Below is a list of the process in order:
    - Seal bare wood with CPES, (Smiths Clear Penetrating Epoxy Sealer), 3-4 coats: www.makewoodgo...
    - Fillet and shape spray rails with West Epoxy thickened with 407 low-density filler
    - Sand, shape and fair with 80g rigid sanding board
    - Re seal with CPES, 2 coats
    - 1 coat, SML High Build Epoxy Primer: www.smlmarinep...
    - Applied with a Super Smooth Flock Roller: www.smlmarinep...
    - Sand with 180g flexible sanding board: www.marineindu...
    - 2 coats SML High Build Epoxy Primer
    - Sand with 320g by hand
    - Sprayed 3 coats Epifanes Polyurethane Gloss White: www.marineindu...
