In school I was told that Marketing is the promotion, packaging, pricing, branding, PR, sales and distribution of any product, service or person. I think today it is so much more and all the definitions of all those things in the first sentence are blurred in new Online World. Great video by the way.

I love how focused many of the definitions are on the customer, though in many uses marketing is disconnected from the intent of delivering value to the customer and instead focused on manipulation of emotion to create a triggered response with the goal of increasing revenue.
Digging thoroughly to discuss and explain the whole process helps not only new and upcoming marketers, but also those experienced marketers to reopen their different views and to understand deeply the word "Marketing".
Very informative video, as much as this has taught me that marketing is how we want to intro to our product, marketing main aim to satisfy the customer
life is about creating yourself if not no one else will come and do it for you.
As much as this has taught me, I feel that this is only useful as a launchpad into knowing what to look up later. Had a feeling that that would be the case as it is listed as _Introduction_ to Marketing.
Whenever someone ask me what marketing is I never feel like there's a short answer that I could give them. I fell like I could say its about creating value, involves public relations, selling, advertising, but it is all those things and so much more. Ive been told so many different definitions for marketing but I feel like there's so much you could possibly say to define it.

marketing is the research of the peoples interests to create the advertising the product being sold.
and also researching potential trends in the market that can be implemented and achieved by a specific business in order to attract and retain customers
I do like the attempt of this video. Thank you for trying to expand 'marketing' beyond an arts and crafts activity (often now relegated to the back office). Malaise, the author of this video has the 4Ps in the wrong order. The first P is 'product' and the responsibility of a 'marketer' is to develop the best product and service to make it viable to any type of economic buyer whether that be a B2B or B2C customer. This includes a 'sub P' which is positioning. The second 'P" is 'pricing'. Pricing discipline is a science. There are many ways to triangulate on pricing so I won't over comment on it. However the van westendorp approach

not to sound prudish : ) the ultimate goal must be customer satisfaction. For if your product was returned--or thrown away due to a no return policy, society will soon learn of your misplaced efforts (usually via slander or bad reviews). Thus revenue-- or maximum possibility of profit, will be lost.
This can and may be combated by more precise marketing information I.e. not lying or misleading consumers and also by increasing services, product benifit, or the product itself.
Case of point: what if a new found business executive wanted to learn how to properly market his product and then stumbled on this particular "gold mine" of an introduction to marketing video made short and sweet. Image he took the final words spoken (which sadly is what usually is the case) and ran with it.
Now this is bad strategy but bear with me.
He would then focus on getting his product out there and be TOTALLY SATISFIED when that product left the door.
This executive would have limited chance to better his business because of the fact that he did all he can to get the product out the door (offering benefits that the product meets but in the most non substantial ways) customers never came back to constructively criticize said services--or worse they found no reason to due to a "no return" policy made by the ultimate sales hungry executive who's main focus was product-out money-in.
Now hopefully he found himself able to get back on "the right " track. However, his first impression could be detrimental to his business especially when early stages of company implementation is crucial to get close to right; all revenue made and sustained would HIGHLY benefit the ultimate goal of the business which is to thrive.
