If you want the pattern to line up perfectly then your chain needs to be a multiple of 6, +4. ❤️ I chained 34 for mine, so that would be: 30 (6x5) + 4.

So keep on adding 6 chains to your chain until you have the desired length of your bag, so mine would be 6+6+6+6+6. When you are done with that, add 4 more chains. My chain is 34 chains, so that is 6+6+6+6+6+4. Hope that explains it.

Isn't that romanian cord?! I made it for my bag a few months ago and it's just like this, you can use it as a crossbody as well as like a shoulder bag. The Romanian and i cord are a game changer for sturdy straps

I followed your video exactly using 30 chains to start, but when the body was finished, I realized the shells don’t line up 😢. I thought maybe I made a mistake somewhere, so I started a new one following your video again and it’s still the same. Can you tell me if 30 chains is correct? made this as a purse with a repeating gradient of white to orangey-brown and it’s soooo gorgeous, this video was very helpful :D
also recommend experimenting with the yarn size; i went for something a lot smaller and tighter, which i love, but this pattern is very adaptable!!

I think you can use any yarn it will work but if your not sure maybe try to do a mini swatch to see if it stretches or can handle weight! 🩷
