    I uploaded a couple of college papers that I wrote, including a Chemistry Lab report, without any other prompting and comes back with some pretty good stuff.
    One of my reports it clearly went out to the net (or combed its own database) and pulled in additional details that the "listeners" would find interesting.
    It is a cool tool. Great way to also sum up a document that you have already gone over as a way to refresh yourself on the information, like you need to talk about it at a meeting or give a presentation on it. The AI seems to be pretty good at picking out what to explore and ignore.

      EXACTLY - this is the type of thing I mean. Being able to consume information that is normally hard (long or a lot of written text) now becomes something I can do multi-tasking (mowing the grass, walking, etc)

    when ChatGPT first came out, I gave it some elementary school math problem, and it came back with the wrong answer but sound like it is so confident that it was correct. So for math, it is easy to tell that they are wrong, but with Podcast type of generation, it is harder to tell that it was wrong.

      Agreed, this is one of the dangers for sure, especially if you're looking for this technology to help inform you. I tried to call that out in the video - it's a problem already today (people take reporting at face value) but will continue to be an issue with this type of tech

    i am also adding a pdf file what i want in that podcast. (that says i want you to focus more on Item 1, Item 7 ETC.). this makes podcast focus these parts in detail.(in general, annual report podcasts take 10-15 minutes, while with additional pdf, podcast becomes 20-25 minutes long)

      My view on that is P/E is only one measure. It may tell you if something is "cheap" but it won't tell you if it's cheap for a reason. That's why I say the growth rate has to always be factored into the valuation.
      In terms of China, I had a couple companies on my watchlist, but to me the geopolitical risk is too high since I'm pretty unfamiliar with the details of the country and how it works. But that's just my view.

    • @mattderron

      To me it's about being able to learn in alternative ways. Not many people will read a 70 page DOJ complaint, but will listen to a 12 minute podcast.
      I may not have time to go through Amazon's last 5 annual reports (100+ pages) but I can put on a playlist of about an hour of podcast overviews and listen while I'm mowing my lawn.
      Or...use the FAQ or Study Guide generator if you prefer reading, but don't want to read 500 pages. To me the point is that it greatly accelerates the ability to learn and be more informed on a deeper level about topics.

  • @rigodeni

    AI is akin to how a calculator does the mundane math tasks, so we can focus on the bigger problem. Have calculators replaced mathmeticians? AI is nothing more than a tool we should learn to use if we want to be more efficient and effective. Having more time to spend on the bigger picture can only enrich our lives. Indeed, AI is just as biased as any human, since the sources are human. If anything, AI makes it easier then ever to be unbiased. Its our responsibility to consider the sources on all sides, we have no more excusses.

    • @mattderron
      @mattderron  3 місяці тому

      I totally agree with this take - IMO it's about how it can make us more efficient to accomplish tings at a wider breadth or more depth than before...or both.

  • @international_dividend
    @international_dividend 3 місяці тому +2

    Saying 'AI' is of course cool and in fashion but technically this isn't AI (and most times the term is used it's really not AI). It's not learning from material it's just summarizing materials a human has fed it with code provided by a human. It's not learning and forming 'its own' opinions.
