Julius is a drummer, but he displays the same kind of energy Jaco displayed. Felix, on the other hand, has the same sensibility his father had...Beautiful tribute to the best bass player in history
Jaco also played drums! He played on both bass and kit on Teen Town.
Jaco didn't just also play drums, he began as a drummer!
Jaco also played drums
Now, imagine Julius on drums, and Felix and Jaco jamming on bass.. yes, that would have been epic.
Jaco Pastorius was musical genius
Jaco may have left us. But he left us with 2 of the most amazing musicians to ever walk the planet.
Daddy would be proud : )
James Ramsey very much
One of the best thing in my life has been the inspiration the Pastorius family has brought me for the last forty years.
Couldn't take my eyes off of Julius! Like Brando up there stealing the scene without trying, just non stop flow of ideas and really drives the band! Incredible energy!
I read Bill Milkowski's biography of Jaco not too long ago. Toward the end, he writes about Felix going to Victor Wooten's bass camp, and Victor being amazed that Felix's fingering and neck work were so much like his father's, even though Felix could never have gotten a bass lesson from Jaco. VICTOR WAS RIGHT. Felix inherited the magic hands, no doubt about it!
Amazing... like father like sons! Bass and drums family. Young Jaco was also a great drummer, like his father Jack. Super version of Jaco's Teen Town!!!
FANTASTIC!
Just phenomenal
I played with Jaco a long time ago.. Its always great to hear other people play his stuff as well..
And it's even better to see both of his sons playing his stuff in this video!
💯🕶️💜
Absolutely!

Jaco would be proud.
That smooth move from jazz to blues at the end is brilliant.
That was truly amazing to witness…the drumming was breathtaking. Just fantastic…
I dig this guitar player. The stuff they're doing here is very reminiscent of the Live in NYC recordings and what they're doing with Teen Town here is exactly what Jaco was doing with the song during that era. I'm hearing Hiram Bullock as well as Kenwood Dennard's influences all over this performance and I like it.
Thats John Bendy on guitar. Brother of Mike Bendy who plays bass with Felix in the band hipster assasins. I got the chance to talk with all them and see them perform live at the 55 bar in NYC few years ago. Really chill dudes put on one hell of show.
Talk about DNA, man. Great job boys could be words of Jaco up there.
veeeeryyyyyyyyyy gooooodddddddddddddd!!!! Julius is same as Jaco!!!! Impressive!!!!!
Whenever some 4 string purist writes "Jaco only needed 4 strings" I like to pist a pic of his son with his 6 string custom Fodera or his nephew with his 5 string.
Then I just pop some popcorn and put on some Weather Report while I play my 5 string Jazz Deluxe and read comments.
@Be Player Plus not so. There are bassists alive today that I believe have surpassed his skill level and his inventiveness.
Michael Manring, Jeff Schmidt....two
It's all about Feel and Sound, and they can't surpass him in that, and a 5-6 string hasn't got that sound!
😂😂😂 Me too, the bass community has its fair share of devout purists. What happened to the world of AND
Damn GOOD Boys. carry the torch
Thanks for sharing
This is a great post.
Bloody marvellous. It must be genetic! Such great boys. Jaco would be so proud.
Felix is fierce! This is fantastic!
Actually, I see in Julius the same Jacos's dna: he did a couple of things on drums that reminded me dad's geniality... Awesome!
Great playing by all!
Larry B... love you thanks for uploading this. I love it.
Brill! Coming to watch you on Tuesday at The Music Hall in Aberdeen.x
Keep watching for more.......
DNA never lies, awesome!
Wow that was awesome. Sons have talent.
Fucking DNA! Amazing Jaco's boys!
merci ....JACO
Thanks for posting!!
The Pastorius twin brothers.
Nice jam.
I Jaco play in the back parking lot of Musicians Exchange in Ft Lauderdale while his wife was giving birth to these twins. When a guy came out & whispered in his ear, his face light up. He exclaimed "my wife just had twins" then ripped thru the best bass run I've ever heard
whahow !!!
excellent
Bravo!!!
Wow!
Tee-hee-hee Felix (Bass) and Julius (Drums) Pastorius hittin' Double Time on dad Jaco's tune "Teen Town" from Weather Report's Heavy Weather album (1977) -- with John (Guitar) on the "Bendy" end: 6:10.
Considering how is father treated his instruments, I'd say that's acceptable.
on this version 😍😤, do you want to seriously playing a bass someday?
Felix pastorius was my first inspiration in growing a beard
Please do the chicken walk! Well done Felix - brilliant!
bend it like Jaco's boys... Jaco lives... long live
They are all having fun, including audience.
Wow.....Felix looks exactly like his dad
It would take a Pastorius to play teen town like that. I would like to see Way of the Groove play in Ft. Lauderdale again.
Anyone know if they did palladium? Loved Jaco on that one
Wow, he has all Jaco's bassgenes, hope he plays a bit longer!
Much much! 💥
They are both 3 years older than their dad was when he passed, so they both already played a bit longer. It also really puts into perspective, even if Jaco was only with us for a short time, he left us with some bass magic.
nice
Bravi !!!!!!!
The last chorus is comically fast 😀.
I've always wondered what it's like being Felix. When you choose to follow in your dad's footsteps, and your dad is arguably the most innovative, gifted electric bassist of all time, how do you make your mark? Maybe it's by playing your dad's music twice as fast as he did 😁.
This is great! Why I didn't see it before?
always the same, flashy bass spoilt by sloppy timing. Hes younger here but hasn't changed. Just can't stay tight.
@@bryanleigh6497 And the video of you playing tighter and better is where? :-)
@@bryanleigh6497what? I couldn’t see or hear any mistakes in that entire performance. Are you sure we’re watching the same video?
This man is ripping the bass something fierce
You know who his dad is, right? It's in his DNA.
What do you call that guitar again. It's made of pine wood and has a secretive curing process
Julius looks just like jaco!
Would love to hear a John Bendy jamming with Wayne Krantz!
the drummer is just grooving !!! ha
they interpolate in "Third Stone from the Sun"-- Jaco often did that.
Anyone gonna talk about the funky unison shit at the start?
and this was in 2009, check them out what they do now is completely insane...:)
your comment was 3 years ago, check them out what they do now is completely insane...:)
@@jeremiahfernandez9161 check them out what they do now
What, there are two of them ?!
Thats Colin James on the Piano.
I think it was John Bendy.
"Yeah, I'm just gonna lean this 10 000 dollar Fodera on this amp.. why not.. its fine"
I didnt notice any expensive hats on that amp
Adam S Bass hat
But at least he leans it against his amp & cab in the correct orientation; too this day, it never ceases to amaze me the number of professional, even internationally renowned guitarists and bass guitarists who persist in leaning their instrument against something ON THE NECK!! One doesn’t need to know much, if anything about guitars in general to come to the logical conclusion that since the strings are steel, not to mention they provide grip against the (generally) carpet covered amps and cabs, so that there is far less chance of the instrument being knocked over and crashing down onto the band stand if it were accidentally knocked or brushed up against. The back of necks are so smooth and the strings completely protect the fingerboard and/or frets from any kind of damage as strings are often changed. I can’t remember a time when I’ve heard of someone replacing the neck on their guitar or bass. And this is even before someone thinks about the instrument itself - most want their neck to be perfectly smooth on the non string side. If there’s even minor scratches or gauges taken out of the neck wood, it can often easily be noticed even if just a small scratch but if a decent little chunk or 1mm+ deep groove is created when the guitar slides off the amp/cab, it’s difficult not to notice damage like that.
And as someone else commented somewhat similarly, the way Jaco would treat his”Bass of Doom”, Felix is basically wrapping it in cotton wool surrounded by bubble wrap. At least he doesn’t throw it around, jump on the thing, etc. admittedly it didn’t seem to cause much, if any detrimental effects to Jaco’s bass, but surely it couldn’t really have been doing it much of a favour?
But with the way he played, who are we to say Jaco didn’t treat his bass exactly as was required for it to produce (in his hands) the exact tone he desired and that bass sure sounded incredible!
I get that, but remember Felix is his own bass player as well as being Jaco's son :) just as Jaco was Jack's son and went a slightly different way.
Those hands! Massive. Effortless. Apple not fallin' far from the tree here.
Well Felix is 6'7"
who was that funky guitar player?
The Iridium is JAZZ
They are brothers, twins to be exact.
PASTORIUS
Steve F 's 😏
Now Presentorius...
No they didn't just take it to Church at 7:11?
sounds like it :D "Y'all aint hearing me!"
Very gospel in your soul playing

il a fait des progrès en ortho, P.C, depuis six ans ?
what bass is he using?
good question
So much pocket
Felix is not even trying. He must think teen town is so easy.
Aren't they both cousins, not brothers?
Felix and Julius are Jaco's sons. David Pastorius is Jaco's nephew.
awsome, but the guitar and drums are overpowering the bass
