Thank you, i have both the Gold & the Silver Box-Set (there also exists the Silver Box-Set without a Certification). Interesting sidenote: The very first Elvis 3"CD Single Worldwide was made in Austria (PD 49467 with 4Tracks "Heartbreak Hotel" "I Was The One" "Don't Be Cruel" "Hound Dog")released in February 1989
I was always told that the “Memories of Christmas” by Elvis Presley was the very first CD that came from Japan. You learn something new everyday Still in the Elvis bubble. Ha Nice work and please, more on Elvis On CD !!!
Had a friend who was an Elvis fan and showed me new format CD demonstrated in local Hi-Fi store circa '85. They were alternately known as DAD's (Digital Audio Disc). I wasn't keen on their plastic cheap, look and package. I have an early one still, 'Diamond Series'. As CD's became popular there was more incentive to buy them. They became better still. Best ones are alternate version releases, box sets, FTD etc. Would have preferred card, or digi-pack covers more than jewel cases. Some are so nice to have, especially the 60 CD album originals and those FTD's. I've even made my own. Thanks for showing yours.
Hey mate, I got this on first release, the start of my cd collection, which heralded the end of my vinyl collection, which I have since, re-collected! I sold my original box set years ago, but then re bought it a couple of years ago! oh the joys of Collecting Elvis! LOL, cheers my friend!
Mal, it never ends. I used to buy it all on cassette as well, but the box I had stored them in disappeared from my parents house while I was living in Finland. I keep having to stop myself from buying them again.
I hope to get the gold box one day, but it is too expensive for me. I knew that it was the first Elvis cd but didn't know the story behind it. Great video, thanks.
Nice overview. I remember seeing the gold set in W.H. Smith's at the time. It was 65 quid. I passed it up as I didn't have a CD player. I finally got the set over here about 10 years ago. Cheers, Steve.
I have seen that CD 💿 box set around over the years ....didn't realise that was the very first Elvis CD set that was released to the public ! Interesting to note looking at the track listings it stops in 1972 ... Obviously as Parker had sold off the rights to Elvis back catalogue in 1973 😀! I only have one more Legacy CD to get now ( I think ) ....the first 2 albums ! Someone sent me an offer yesterday....so I may get that shortly! The Legacy CDS are very good ...and underestimated! I thought Austin would have gotten the Oscar....🙄 As you say ...no chance! Cheers 🥂
I have this CD set myself, you of course have a lower number than mine, but still great to have. I didn’t know much about the background history on it, so thank you so much for doing this video. I love watching your videos as you go into detail about the background about everything and I’ve learnt so much.
I have seen that boxset on ebay going for crazy money, but one day I'll find one at my price. I have 32 ELVIS boxsets and that one is my Holy Grail lol.
The Legend was released December 1983. All early US cds were made in Japan, but were released after The Legend. First US made cds were, I believe 1987. This is fully documented.
Great to see that first set and the two first CD’s of the first two albums. I think I read the USA versions were electronically reprocessed stereo so are the UK ones in that or mono. Thanks Steve!
I held that Gold one in my hand at my local record shop 1983-1984 ((Sweden) but I didnt buy it ! 😢( It could have been the silver one) ….I didnt have a Cd player until 1985
Hello my friend thank you for another informative video 👍
Very interesting video. I'm from the USA and I believe the first Elvis cd I got was the "Memphis Record".

I was trying to remember the cost, but it was expensive for the time.

Kerry, I resisted for years then saw this copy for only £70 on ebay.
The first CD that was made in the US for Elvis is the very first one.

disc 1 is mono, then some stereo tracks start to appear.

I always say, I cannot regret buying something, but the things I didn't buy when I had the chance, will always haunt me
I wonder if these were released in Australia. I have a couple of the German 4 disc Elvis collection. 🙂
As they only produced 5000 of the gold set, it may not have had a chance to get to Australia?
Great video my friend Austin butler should have gotten the Oscar .but I'm glad I did not watch the show. TCB.
