I am a Korean student who studies in the US. I used to live with my parents in the US, but they moved back to Korea a year ago. Apparently, Maangchi's English is better than my mom's, but how she talks is very similar to how my mom talks, and I love it so much! I feel like I am watching my mom cooking whenever I see your videos. Thank you so much for your videos Maangchi!!
My wife bought the noodles at the store and I was wondering how it's done as the picture on the packaging looks really delicious. Searching online and found this video. What better way than to learn a Korean dish than from a true Korean. I tried it out and it was amazing. I have 5 members in my family and cooked the whole pack. I must say that it was enough for about 8 people in case those of you who are unsure about the portions.
this is the best Japchae recipe! nothing I've tasted at restaurants is this good. I've made it so many times and will continue to do so. Thank you so much Maangchi
Also you need oil, so your body can extract the vitamins from the vegetables. Eating salads without oil is no use... you don't get any vitamins from them.
lasabi Do you mean fat soluble vitamins and certain minerals? You do not need much oil to extract the fat soluble vitamins. Calcium is hard to absorb by body and iron can use help of vitamin C in spinach. high heat also destroys many water soluble vitamins and some phytochemical.
I made this to serve with our Thanksgiving meal. I told all my American friends it was sweet potato. It was the most popular dish there. Thanks for the recipe. Love you so much.
This was one of my favorite dishes when I was stationed in Korea from February 1976-June 1977 and June 1979-June 1980. When we lived in Atlanta my wife and I would go to a restaurant called Mirror Of Korea and the first time I ordered it I made the mistake of letting her try it. I started life out as an Army brat and I like foods from different cultures with Korean being one of my favorites. In Korea I liked going to restaurants where I could watch them cook and I learned a number of things. My grandmother cooked for a living and started teaching my siblings and I how to cook when we were in elementary school. If I cooked for a living I probably wouldn't enjoy it as much. Thanks for the videos. You seem like you have a wonderful personality and your smile just seals the deal.👍🏽
I'm married into a korean family and I know nothing about cooking korean food. I made this for them and they LOVED IT!! You are my one to go when I want to cook korean food. Thank you ❤ You are my life saver
I almost ALMOST bought a bottle of "japchae sauce" in a bottle thinking it might be a complicated mixture. But this is all simple ingredients that I can find in my pantry. Thank you, ma'am!
Japchae is my favorite Korean dish I’ve made, with your recipe!! Now I have made my own kimchi, kimchi pancake, kimchi fried rice, kimchi stew, doenjang stew, green onion pancake, Korean curry, bulgogi, kimbap, bibimbap, sweet and spicy fried chicken, fire chicken with cheese, hotteok, and sweet red bean steamed buns. I think I’m going to make some curry again this weekend😋 I’ve had so much fun watching you and cooking your recipes💓 Sending love to you from South Carolina🤗
I love the way you keep a clean kitchen, your hands are free from rings and long nails and the nice and simple way you present your recipe. Always a pleasure to learn and be inspired. Thanks for sharing....again!
Just finished making this. Came out absolutely delicious! You were right about the addition of black pepper; made it even better than I've ever had it at any restaurant. Thanks for sharing this recipe!
I made this, it came out wonderful!! I took it to a church pot luck dinner and nothing was leftover. I was asked for the recipe, so I told them about your channel.
Now i understand why japchae always the last to come when i ordered several foods in korean restaurant.. it takes a long long way to make japchae👏 but japchae is still my favourite😭❤❤
I have an appreciation for all types of food. I love how Maangchi explains the recipe for people to understand. I love Asian food. I’ve learned to cook a lot. Thank you 😊 and love ya! Can’t wait to try this!
I just love how gentle you are with your food as you cook. You are an artist who obviously has great respect for the tops of her trade. Between that and your sweet friendliness I am mesmerized by your videos :)
Is it okey if i use chicken instead of meat..at home we only eat chicken , fish and veggies..and cabbage instead of spinach ?..cabbage is abundant here in the Philippines..thanks!
Did this yesterday as my first time and my fussy husband ate the entire huge bowl! We both will cook it again end week! THANK YOU for all the comments so i knew this is the best Korean channel to follow! THANK YOU FOR MAKING AMAZING DELICIOUS AND TASTY RECIPE! 💓
Maangchi! My 5yo picky eater just gave me thumbs up for japchae!!!! I’m so proud and touched by his expression... his eyes just sparkle when he take his first bite! Kamsahamida for your amazing recipe ! Husband said this is better than Korean restaurant!
The way Maangchi cooks is not often found in her generation. She must've had an old wonder cook in her family that either she was taught or she watched growing up. Very good recipe always!
Maangchi have you ever watched 인간의 조건? The did a mission about Korean heritage from 100 years ago. Apparently japchae originally didn't even have noodles! Really interesting show! One of my favorite Korean shows along with 슈퍼맨이 돌아왔다.
I live in Kiev, Ukraine and I made this for lunch with ladies at church and everyone couldn’t stop eating it. They only stopped eating it when it was done. Thank you!!
Swahili caption is up now! One of my viewers submitted the caption! Thank you so much! Swahili, also known as Kiswahili, is a Bantu language and the first language of the Swahili people. It is a lingua franca of the African Great Lakes region and other parts of eastern and south-eastern Africa, including Tanzania, Kenya, Uganda, Rwanda, Burundi, Mozambique, and the Democratic Republic of the Congo.
Maangchi I made this today! My Mom can't stop add more more and more Japchae to her plate from my pan! She said this is delishhh and I said I copy the recipe from Maangchi, the well-known Korean Chef on UA-cam. But I use corn vermicelli instead, the only one I could find on the traditional market near my house. Thank you Maangchi! We love you!
My mom requested japchae for Christmas dinner and I'm so thankful that this video exists! I have your cookbook but it's always nice to make it with you!
Thank you for sharing all your very good recipes. You make the show so enjoyable that I just watch them over and over again. Will be getting some of your cookbooks so I have some of your recipes on hand. Thank you again. I'm a global fan and have subscriptions to platforms that stream Korean and Chinese dramas with subtitles. I'm glad some of the ingredients mentioned are available in this country. Thank you again and the very best to you and yours!
Im obsessed with japchea! I make it once a week. That’s the only Korean food i make at home. One day I’d travel to Korea just to try ALL kinds of Korean foods 🤤🤤🤤🤤🤤🤤🤤
Maangchi, I have invited my friends toningt to my new home and I am preparing Japchae!!! Im famous for not being a good cook but your videos are so great I want to try!!! Hugs from Switzerland
+Eternelspotlessmind "I'm famous for not being a good cook" haha, oh baby, it's time for you to show off your cooking skill! Good luck with tonight's party! : )
+Maangchi your Japchae was a real showstoper!!! Amazing!!! Everyone loved it!! The funny part was that i told them it was your recepe and now you have 2 more avid fans!!! We are planning to try Gimbap next weekend!! Amazing! Thank you, Maangchi! :)
+Sarah Carr Actually amazingly well!! Everyone loved the Japchae!! My friends were saying that I cannot hide my AMAZING cooking skills anymore!! hahaha Unbelievable!!!
Annyeaonghaseyo, 🙂The colours of the ingredients are so vibrant and appetizing, I am already drooling as I watch you cook it. Now I know why the vegetables stay crunchy even after cooking and the golden tip is to cook them individually based on the cooking time. Nomu nomu kamsahamnida Maangchi 👍🙂
My boyfriend and I have been in a long distance relationship for two years and we both gained weight while being apart so we are going on a diet. Hyun and I both love Korean food and cooking so I'm excited to try making more of your recipes (I love your broccoli pickles haha) and this one looks full of nutrients. I have been working hard to earn his parents' acceptance and respect, but his mom is still hesitant to give her aproval due to traditional family values and customs. I am so thankful to your channel and website because without it I wouldn't be able to learn so much about Korean food. I hope to keep learning so I can impress his parents with delicious meals and show my good intentions to learn their culture n___n
Thank you ^__^ Im not normally someone who seeks approval but I love Hyun and I know despite him not caring, it secretly would mean a lot and I want to do everything I can to make him happy. He does so much for me, and even spoke up on my behalf, so the least I can do is slowly learn Korean to better communicate with his family and how to prepare meals he misses from home~
Omg I made enough japchae for 5 or so people and it took me 2 hours to cook everything!! O.o chopping took 40 minutes, but it was worth it. Noodles were delicious. Thanks maangchi!
I made this for my family and they absolutely loved it. We used to go out to an expensive restaurant to eat this and we are really happy because it tasted exactly the same.
Omg , I remember you! We met at times square japanese restaurant,, you was together with american guy..You started conversation and we had a long conversation..I am from Mongolia, it was 2009, do you remember? I was by myself and you guys invited me to your table :) You was very nice to me..You thought I was korean :)
This is one of my mom's and mine favorite dishes. I learned how to do it from your first video, now I can make it without looking at the recipe. It tastes amazing. Thank you so much for showing us how to make it!
You are such a passionate person, you put in a lot of work for your videos. And you explain things so nicely and clearly, Korean food always caught my interest because the process and the outcome. It always comes out beautiful, thank you for your hard work!!!👍🏽🤗😁
I love you mangche I am Iraqi and live in U.S. You bring joy to my day when I see you...thanks for the delicious food my family loves everything I cook for them of yours...congratulations on 1 million subscribers proud to be one of them just recently
You are my One and the ONLY Korean Chef! I love your recipe! I brought food from your recipe from US to Sweden! And everyone LOVES the food that I brought to the party! You are awesome and my best secret to wow people! Thanks so much!
Wow, you a a very clean lady, I am impressed. You always wash your hands, No contaminations . Unlike other cooks, failed to wash their hands holding meat, then prepare salad, a no no, you cook good too, lady, .
Maangchi, I love the way you eat your meals on camera. I feel like I am enjoying your meal, especially when you add what you made to a complete meal with kimchee and a drink! It is so satisfying to watch. It also shows me how to eat it- what side dishes/soup to serve with it, and portions to serve!
The colors are really pretty and I especially loved the way you cooked the egg !! The dish made my mouth water !! I'll definitely try it sometime !! THANK YOU
I made this meal the other night for my family and for someone whos never cooked a meal their whole life this video was so so easy to follow!!! My family enjoyed the meal and their making me do this dish every week for them 😊💕 thank you so much for making this video !!
Today i made this recipe for the first time, and i swear i thought it smelled like my favorite korean restaurant in Chile. Maanchi i love it, you're the best 🇨🇱🥰🥰
i found your channel today and i am stuck lol i cant stop watching your videos!!! I absolutely love how you prepare food sooo clean!! I like watching videos to teach me new recipes but a lot of them dont prepare food and wash their hands as much as you do and your cutting board etc. it is like i can eat something you make because when i cook i have to constantly clean up...lol anyway great vids!!! love them!!
I just made this recipe. It turned out great! This is one of the most delicious dishes I've ever tasted. I was leary of the sweet potato noodles, but they were very tasty.
Yes! Spanish caption is up now thanks to my viewer's contribution! You can submit caption translations in your own language by clicking the gear icon on my video, then choosing "Subtitles", and then choosing "Add subtitles." Then you can translate the English caption into your own language! Your translation will help everyone in your country!
Thank to sharing to my people in Spanish you're channel is the best place to get really good food recipes I love it ❤️😘 many blessings to you 🙏🏾🙏🏾🙏🏾🙏🏾🙏🏾🙏🏾🙏🏾🙏🏾🙏🏾🙏🏾🙏🏾🙏🏾
Maangchi hello! Am lovong your recipes! You are amazing. But i would als like to know why you use sugar instead of salt? Can salt just be enough if we didn't want to put some sugar in?? Thank you
I’ve made this so many times for so many people, no matter who tries it, loves it! I love the sweet soy sesame taste and feel of the noodles so much, as well as the healthy colorful vegetables. I’m not vegetarian but I always make this vegetarian with mushrooms and it’s delicious. It’s my favorite vegetarian dish and the first thing I cooked from you! Thanks Maangchi!
Whenever I made a new dish, I always asked my family to grade it, then I will keep the recipes graded from 8 and above. My son said it is A TEN! Made it last night for the first time and I just made it again tonight for dinner! Can't wait! Next will be Bibimbap!
I just made a shrimp version of this. It is awesome! I didn't have mushrooms so I added extra shrimp. I'm excited that it turned out so well. Thanks for great tutorials! And thanks for expanding my horizons with my food palate .
I lived in Seoul for 2,5 years in the 80's, and Japchae will always be my favorite foods from childhood memories of Korea! Really love your video, especially the sight and the sound of it when you're preparing every menu!
I will surely try this Korean recipe. You always cook perfectly. Also I love the way you wash your hands oftenly and keep dishes immaculately clean. Keep on your good work.
Thank you so much for creating these videos. The little smiley faces & side comments, and ur voice, and editing angles, and the way you comfortably taste test even a noodle makes me feel so much more comfortable at the thought of cooking. I struggle with it a lot and also feel embarrassed. Saying we made it together & you wished you could share this with us made me feel so loved, too 💓💓💓💓 thank you so much Maangchi 💜💜💜🌷🌷🌷
I know this video is old, but I am your new subbie, Maangchi!! This is the second video of yours that I have watched, and I'll admit that there is something with the way you present your tutorials. I also love your sense of humor! 잘 했습니다 :)
Just had this in a food market in Seoul, damn was it good. Gonna make it when I get back home
Good luck with making delicious japchae! Homemade japchae is the best!

👍
My favorite thing about Maangchi is how she cleans the hell out of everything she touches!!! Lol
Even I do the same while cooking ,😄
The vegetables
Me too😂
I agree I liked the way she cleaned spinach. I trust her cooking lol!
Love that and her sense of humor!
for those who think it's too much oil.
well i think the oil helps noodles not sticking to each others
That's right!
Yuki Winehouse where was too much oil.... not at all... less oil would have been no oil at all...
Also you need oil, so your body can extract the vitamins from the vegetables. Eating salads without oil is no use... you don't get any vitamins from them.
lasabi
Do you mean fat soluble vitamins and certain minerals? You do not need much oil to extract the fat soluble vitamins. Calcium is hard to absorb by body and iron can use help of vitamin C in spinach. high heat also destroys many water soluble vitamins and some phytochemical.

...iam italian food lover. Therefore i want to try to copy your receipt without sugar. For me sugar with anykind of noodles is not acceptable.
😂, there is sugar in marinade sauce, correct?

Thank you for your services!!
I made this last night and it was SO delicious! I don't eat meat, so I added more mushrooms, as you said, but also crispy tofu. Loved it!!
Wow
You should post some recipes too
I love all BTS Army moms ❤
CherryTerry Kang same like me..
Did you used egg?
Crispy tofu is sure , a nice idea indeed . I think some chopped nuts like macadamia would also make for a nice addition to this dish .
Just watched Namjoon make this and he was following a recipe on his phone. I wonder if it was yours! 💜💜💜💜
Same here!..
Same here 😂😂😂
True hahaha thats why thats leads me here too😂😂😂

Wow, I'm a korean house wife, but you are better at cooking korean food than I am ^^;
I love the way you keep a clean kitchen, your hands are free from rings and long nails and the nice and simple way you present your recipe. Always a pleasure to learn and be inspired. Thanks for sharing....again!
I remember seeing some TV chefs cooking with rings on and mixing things by hand, like making meatballs. Argh so annoying! lol
take a nail cutting and put it under the microscope....
Just finished making this. Came out absolutely delicious! You were right about the addition of black pepper; made it even better than I've ever had it at any restaurant. Thanks for sharing this recipe!
You cannot find good Japchae in every Korean Restaurant except you cook it by yourself at home like she did !! one of my favorite noodles menu !!
I made this, it came out wonderful!! I took it to a church pot luck dinner and nothing was leftover. I was asked for the recipe, so I told them about your channel.

You always take your time preparing everything and making it look so appealing!
Wow, you a a very clean lady, I am impressed. You always wash your hands, No contaminations . Unlike other cooks, failed to wash their hands holding meat, then prepare salad, a no no, you cook good too, lady, .
Still using this recipe! One of my favorite little noodle dishes!
눈도 마음도 배도 행복해지는 잡채네요 💕
Maangchi, I love the way you eat your meals on camera. I feel like I am enjoying your meal, especially when you add what you made to a complete meal with kimchee and a drink! It is so satisfying to watch. It also shows me how to eat it- what side dishes/soup to serve with it, and portions to serve!
Thank you very much! Happy cooking!
The colors are really pretty and I especially loved the way you cooked the egg !! The dish made my mouth water !! I'll definitely try it sometime !! THANK YOU

👍
Very amazing!
Whenever I made a new dish, I always asked my family to grade it, then I will keep the recipes graded from 8 and above. My son said it is A TEN! Made it last night for the first time and I just made it again tonight for dinner! Can't wait! Next will be Bibimbap!
That is awesome!
Just finished making this dish!

Looks really delicious - salivating just looking at it! Great job Maangchi!
I just made this tonight for the first time and I'm eating it while I write this comment. Thank you Maangchi, it's delicious!

I just made it today. It is so delicious. Thank you. I am from Singapore.
Thank you maangchi for sharing your knowledge on cooking, I love it.
"...made me feel so loved, too" Of course I love all of my readers and viewers. Happy cooking!
I know this video is old, but I am your new subbie, Maangchi!! This is the second video of yours that I have watched, and I'll admit that there is something with the way you present your tutorials. I also love your sense of humor! 잘 했습니다 :)
