    Thanks for the review. I'm using Samson Q4 for podcasting and I'm very satisfied it has low plosives and great high frequencies. No need for using popfilters or wind sponge thingi. I was inclined to buy Shure SM57 but after watching lots of comparisons vs Samson brand, I'm going to stick by Samson. Thumbs up for this review!

    Thanks for the video. I have a Q7 that I use as a vocal mic and it’s great. Not sure if it was designed to mic a guitar cabinet, but you need to take into account that you were playing a Tele in the bridge pickup, with a bit of boosted treble on your OD pedal. Of course it’s going to sound too bright 😵‍💫

      Talking bout that - it's better to have more brightness without boosting the noise. It's always better to tame down later and tame the noise than boost it with EQ and boost the noise at the same time.

    Pay 4 x more or just roll off some highs in post/move the mic away from the centre of the cone...

      +Shan Michael Escasio hiya mate, i used the Samson for at the guitar show. You can hear it on that playlist for both vocal and guitars. :)
      The only flaw is the lack of a pop shield. :)

      im planning to do some vocal covers with me playing the keyboard too. i have a korg kross 61 synth workstation (im poor af. lol. my q7 was sponsored by a friend) which has a mic input. but really, editing the fx for the mic is very limited. i can adjust gain (audio/mic in setting) and reverb (master fx) and some finer details. i put the highs and lows to mid (mid high and mid low) but i dunno what woud be the best tho.

    When you say a "pop shield" I have the Q7 and the Shure SM58 beta and both grilles have that foam built into them .. isn't THAT a pop shield?

    • @jtguitartv
      @jtguitartv  7 років тому

      +Dimitri Milewicz hey buddy, it's more like a dust filter. A pop shield is much thicker. If you make plosives into your microphone and it clips, it's not a full on pop shield. The Q7 doesn't have a pop shield. The SM58 does. The SM57 does not. The Q7 is more like a SM57 in design. :)

    samson q7 or samson q2u? can't decide

    • @jtguitartv
      @jtguitartv  5 років тому

      I'm afraid I have no experience with the Q2u, but generally I'd avoid usb microphones. But I really know nothing about that mic, so I can't help I'm afraid. The q7 is great for record instruments though. :)
      The pop-filter is pretty rubbish so it's not great for vocals, unless you use an additional pop-filter.

    • @jtguitartv
      @jtguitartv  5 років тому

      It hasn't got a good enough pop-filter. So no, not really. It's fine if you don't talk directly into it. So it would work well as an overhead mic.

    • @jtguitartv
      @jtguitartv  Рік тому

      Thanks for watching and your feedback. The SM57 is actually an instrument mic and meant for music and not vocals. It can be used for vocals but needs an additional pop-filter to prevent plosives. :)

      +Dimitri Milewicz because of the lack of pop shield. And my channel is called JT Guitar not JT Vocals.
