The main problem of pvp in this game is how fast characters move, you literally cant hit anyone using for example a katana unless its a running charge attack
i always thought they could slow down sprint speeds or at least accelerating. they did do it years ago but more of a buildup of speed would be nice to combat running away
Just skill issue, many ways to cripple then roll, cancel animation to get katana out of your roll, spam light attacks, you will touch most of time if you fast enough, Im on console and still able to cancel weapons animation when we have to press 3 différents buttons without missing to take a weapon during the roll animation. If you pc you just have 1 button to press during the roll

Making spear worse doesn't make the rest of the weapons better. They are still completely unviable due to poorly designed movesets (and, of course, the terribly balanced roll system).
As long as infinite stamina, no god bubbles, and everything being piss easy to get are still in the game, the game's busted and not worth the time investment. Shame too, game had great potential and had the best pvp out of all survival games.

So many things could have been done to gradually refine the system that was already in place. Now we have combat with no combos, no grey stamina, no aiming... it's ridiculous.
Its nice to know that we will start to see other weapons arround again besides the spear, I dont mind too much about the lock target, many "good" players on CE use hacks, among them, maybe the oldest and hardest to detect, was the aimbot, not many players can realise how easy is to hack this days on CE, so for the lock target...just take it like For Honor and atleast we all have it regardless of if we chose to use it or not, I think it was a positive update after watching your video and its hard for me to say it because I trully think that funcom is one of the worst company that I know behind what could be the biggest survival sandbox out there so far, maybe after this they can fix the diference between heavy and light armors because I still see light armors taking more damage than heavy armors...I just cant belive that 2-5 players per server are hacking, im quite surprised cuz some reports I made were actually successful . Stamina I dont think is a problem, its diferent from before but I think everyone is used to it now and, in my opinion took the fighting to a higher level. Massive disagree on stamina. The current stamina system makes rolling practically unpunishable. Nerfing spear doesn't make the rest of the weapon cast any better; they still have terribly designed movesets that are completely unviable in PvP. The only difference is now people will just go pure bow instead of bow-spear. They need to fix their roll mechanics to be punishable, and rework all weapon movesets to be viable at roll catching + vortexing opponents. Idk how they fucked up rolls this badly, just model the roll system after Ds3 and you have a punishable roll that still works as a strong defensive tool.

Spears are top dog. Spears get nerfed. Not great axes are top dog. So they will nerf those next. Then daggers will be top dog. Then they will nerf daggers. Then 1hand axes and greatswords will be top dog. Then they will nerf those too. Soon there will only be punching
slowing spear heavy was necessary, it's been the number 1 consistent meta for at least the 4 years i've been playing the game. Being able to turn mid-attack didn't create the problem, it just exacerbated it. hate these latest changes to turning though, it's gonna feel fucking awful
Distance will always be meta. If you can hit someone while they can't hit you, it doesn't really matter how little damage you do. The problem with Conan is that even if you close the gap on someone using a spear, they aren't vulnerable like they would be realistically. Spear should be meta, but rely on precise strikes and maintaining enough distance between you and your opponent.

Spear's no doubt still gonna be strong, and in teamfights it'll still be a key part of the meta, but it absolutely does not need to be the all-encompassing, universal meta that it is now and has been for years. Look at other pvp melee games: reach does not need to be the king, there's plenty of examples of other, more interesting shit out there that isn't "poke fast, accurately and from far away"
@Adam-th7qt other games have counters, weapon clashes, clear advantages and disadvantages to short range vs long range weapons, and pathways to make both successful. Conan's combat system is too rudimentary to properly balance range.
Look at Naraka: Bladepoint gameplay, and you'll see what I mean. Spears have reach you can play around, greatswords have slow, aoe attacks you can play around, dual blades have quick bursts you can play around. Every weapon has advantages and disadvantages. Combat in Conan basically just who can swing big stick to do damage and not get hit by big stick coming other way. Bigger stick is good. Stick that flies through the air is best.

that wasnt really a cohesive sentence there bud. but, ill extrapolate. Spears historically win wars because they cost very little metal to make and can be given to a group on novices and be effective on a large scale melee due to the wall of pokey pokes. They also, do shit for damage compared to other weapons due to their use case and designe. they are also, extremely bad at close quarters combat and are individually very slow since most spears would be 8-16ft long. you wana see spinny spear stuff look at any asian short pole or spear fighting btw, its very comman what most would call "monk" stuff.

Spears weren't op. The stamina rework just made other weapons worse than they already were, because other weapons weren't adjusted to the increased movespeed of Quickfooted. Fix stamina, remove Quickfooted perk and other weapons become viable again.
They removed free aim basically 💀 didn't think funcom could fuck pvp anymore than what they did in chapter 2 but they sure showed me 😂😂 no wonder the game is dying badly and they gave us a new weapon animation that nobody asked for and nobody will ever use hahahaha
The "new" animation will probably become meta as Kacey said. I think its actually a good change to have low dmg fast and high dmg slow spears with quick light and slower but longer range heavy attacks. Definitely makes more sense than before. But you still have unlimited stamina and bow and greataxe damage is still too high, other than that I am not too negative on this change tbh.

@@robrib2682 You get chunked in full heavy. I think the problem with the great axe is they have the armor pen or something miscalculated. You can get hit with a heavy with another weapon with more damage and pen and it doesn't do as much damage as the axe.
