    Great video! I am now a pre-health major in a CC in USA. For the longest time I've been torn out between medicine and pharmacy. I keep asking people around me but everyone has a different opinion. However , I finally decided to go for pharmacy. I really hope that I won't regret my decision and that I would be able to land a job in a hospital.

      if you decide pharmacy, please intern your way through school. the job market is competitive way more competitive than medicine. if you want a job in hospital, intern at a hospital during school. not trying to shoot down pharmacy by any means, because pharmacists do play a major role in health care. such as antimicrobial stewardship or Cancer chemotherapy

    In any profession that you are allowed to open your own practice, it means you are independent. The physician is not authorized to open a pharmacy so yes, the pharmacist is independent

    • @lovefunkrockmusic
      @lovefunkrockmusic 5 років тому +3

      TNPIONEER a physician can open his clinic or start a physician group, which is much easier than starting your own pharmacy. a physician is independent of the hospital corporate system because he works with a practice group and he prescribes medicine

      Body, if you are a physician working in a hospital you are actually working under the supervision of someone. You are authorized to open your own pharmacy, then that’s independent

      @@crystaljohnson2258 I do not know if you are a pharmacist but it depends on the setting. in ambulatory or primary care pharmacy, you do work under the physician because your notes get reviewed by an attending physician. for ID pharmacy, you work alongside the physician.

    Lmao... Pharmacy is hard as fuck but doable. Just make sure you work as a tech in a pharmacy before deciding. If you can handle the retail pharmacy tech work then you will be able to work as a retail pharmacist if nothing else works out as far as other pharmacy career options are concerned. I hate retail and I could not land a job anywhere else because of how competitive it was. I am now just applying for anything I can find but the thought of working in the shitty retail pharmacy makes me wanna throw up. You will make $50 to $55 an hour in retail as a beginner. If anyone tells you otherwise they are lying or live in an expensive state. I live in Virginia so that is the rate here. Pharmacy school is hard as balls for those who hate pharmacy. I was miserable too but I didn't mind it too much but others were struggling and many didn't make it. Some were extra and studied all day long everyday and didn't sleep. I studied only for two days at most leading up to the exams. (I just can't concentrate even if my life depends on it any earlier than that and I have never taken any drugs to help me concentrate either). I think had I studied a little everyday, then I wouldn't have to cram the last couple of days but it worked out so whatever. However, it was very stressful for sure. Even though I am not working as a pharmacist at the moment, I still don't regret going to pharmacy school. The reason I say that is because it was very tough and just being able to become a pharmacist gave me internal satisfaction and boosted my confidence. Had I not done it, I would have regretted it for the rest of my life. I have $140000 in debt. Idk how I will pay it off but yolo. If push comes to shove, I will work at the retail pharmacy wherever in the US but as of now I will hold off until I find a better option.

    What sane person would still want to attend pharmacy school and have $100k's in debt to end up in a dead-end career?
    I'll let these news article titles speak for themselves
    "BLS projects 0% growth in pharmacist jobs over the next decade (actually negative) while similar occupations will all grow at a faster than average pace"
    Becker's Hospital Review "'We're training our kids for jobs that won't exist"
    "HRSA Allied Health Workforce Projections, 2016-2030: Pharmacists. Oversupply projected"
    "A Looming Joblessness Crisis for New Pharmacy Graduates"
    "Walmart layoff 40% of its pharmacists"

    • @elijahwalker7
      @elijahwalker7 3 роки тому +1

      Those these are true. The BLS predicts that more positions will open up in healthcare environments, like hospitals and clinics, versus retail settings. It takes a really passionate person to go in either medicine or pharmacy, and I think the job saturation will help weed out the people that really care about the field.

    • @sunshine-bj8ih
      @sunshine-bj8ih 3 роки тому

      If you are unique and exceptional at what you do, it will be extremely difficult to be laid off. I know a lot of pharmacists who change jobs within the field whenever they feel. You must dare to be different.
