Thanks to bookreader52, you don't need expensive out-of-print adapters to play Rock Band 4 (or any PS3 Guitar Hero/Rock Band game). Just Xbox 360, Wii, or PS3 instrument controllers; and $30 worth of materials. Technically you don't even need instrument controllers.
Just because you CAN do something doesn't mean it's good. I don't find using a standard controller fun, and the charts are far from playable. And this is a basic chart (to say nothing about trying drum charts with this thing). But hey, if you REALLY want to play Rock Band without special controllers, here you go.
Whammy using a standard controller isn't supported using either method as far as I can tell.

Question can I play rockband 4 on my PlayStation 5 with my duelsense controller ??
Not sure yet. I ordered another adapter and it'll arrive on Friday, so I'll have an answer then. Looking at the instructions, it seems a DualShock 4 will work the same way as in the video, but I don't know about a DualSense.

DualSense, no. DualShock 4, yes as long as the console thinks a PS3 instrument controller is connected.

@@Groudon0199how ? I’m trying to play rockband 4 and it shows me as vocals on ps4 and it shows no options to switch to guitar which is what I want to play because if I play as vocals it doesn’t let me play
Then you can play band rock with an Xbox one controller or you can’t?
You can't, u have to use an adapter

Not officially. There are a couple adapters that make the console think whatever you're connecting is a guitar or drum controller.

Só funciona com a guitarra, e pelo oq parece as guitarras do xbox 360 não funcionam no xbox series s ou x, no one eu não se funciona tbm..
As guitarras o pessoal costuma a vender por quase 500 reais

Wait , i have a question for you. I know this is not official , you need the plastic instruments to play but , with this adapter that you're playing , how does it feel? You need to just press the button for hit the colors , like it used to be back in the day with GH2 and GH3 , or you need to hold the note button and press another one to "strum" like if you're supposed to do when playing with the guitar? I'm asking because your fingers position seens strange to me from what i remember from playing with a controller on the good ol days in my Xbox 360. Thank you for your attention!
It doesn't feel great, though it might be because I'm not used to playing this way.
Because it's not official, any controller that's connected acts like the controller the adapter is emulating. For guitar, the GRYBO frets are played using ABYX(LB), and you have to press up or down on the D-pad to strum the notes.
If I remember correctly, the pre-GHWT standard controller equivalent was (LT)(LB)(RB)(RT)A with no strumming required. There might be a way to remap the controls when using the DIY method to that layout and also auto-strum every note, but I haven't looked into it.
Now do it with an official Smash Box controller.
