@Ravi... There is no margine require for option buyer in index option like NIFTY, BANKNIFTY But in case of STOCK OPTION in the last week of expiry the margine is also required for buyer.
If price goes ITM Buyer PE & Seller CE doesn't have stock to give the delivery at expiry, what will happen P R Sundar Sir, any alternative strategies to handle this.
Case-1.. you bought a put of XYZ and stock went down, as you expected. Your put premium will have gone up and you are in profit. Now you can either sell off your put to close the trade and take profit, or you will have to sell [put stock to the buyer] the stock to the put seller as per the contract.
Case-2- you sold a call of XYZ. At expiry it becomes ITM. Meaning you are in loss and call buyer is in profit. Say strike was 100 and at expiry XYZ was at 120. You may close the trade by buying back the option. Or, you can buy equivalent number of shares and keep in account. Your shares will be "called away" (hence the call). If you don't have stock in demat, the exchange/broker will buy for you (auction) from market and deliver to call buyer. This may entail more losses as now you have not control over at what price to buy the stock + there will be some other penalties that exchange will apply.... better avoid that situation at all costs...
