The saddest part...learning they were trying to have the original MMPR team come back for this movie and fail and 30 years later they tried to do the same with the surviving actors in the upcoming "Once and Forever" MMPR reunion movie and failed. We never got to see the original six Rangers on screen together ever again after the halfway point of MMPR season 2 and we never will.

Linkara, the Power rangers historian did take a look at this. There was supposed to be a big rumble between the rangers, Rita and Zed, and the machine empire in which we would see The zeo crystals damaged. I heard they abandoned Zeo cause they realized they messed up by creating the new power. Apparently they stated in the show that the Zeo power wouldn't diminish but would grow in power as time passed. So they would have to keep raising the power of the villains and the rangers would/could basically become God's and impossible to challenge.

Indeed, as despite being written to end the series, which explains the ending destroying and/or purifying all the villains in the series, it did save the series so it can go on, even if it meant with Zordon gone, each season would become more like the series it was adapted from (meaning each season has its own cast and setting).

Justin was problematic for several reasons:
    1. Justin replaced a familiar, established character, Rocky, who was himself initially disliked by some fans for that very reason when he replaced Jason. With time, however, some fans like myself warmed up to Rocky, and I personally felt he was at his best in Zeo, just before he was written out of the show.
    2. Justin was awkwardly shoehorned into Billy’s former role as the brain of the team, effectively replacing two familiar characters. Also, Justin being so intelligent and attending high school at such a young age wasn’t exactly relatable, since most people don’t grow up as child prodigies.
    3. Power Rangers had established the heroes as teenagers, which young kids could look up to, and teenagers could relate to. For young kids who wanted heroes their age to relate to, there was already another Saban show, Big Bad Beetleborgs, and teenagers certainly couldn’t look up to Justin or relate to him.
    4. Justin had a depressing family life, with his mom dying and his dad shirking his responsibilities as a father for a while. Justin would understandably bring it up repeatedly, but it would always bring things down. The Rangers would be having a great time at some event, and then Justin would start moping, and they’d have to go over and cheer him up. It’s a real situation that should be approached with compassion in real life, but it was just such an awkward thing to repeatedly write into Power Rangers.
    5. Until the other four established Rangers were replaced with new characters later on in Turbo, the writing often tended to focus on and revolve around Justin, but that was a bad idea for the reasons I previously described. Justin’s instant growth spurts whenever he’d morph likewise awkwardly threw a spotlight onto him.

The day came for them to meet with Haim Saban and they waited... and waited... and finally realized JDF didn't follow through and wasn't going to back them. ASJ said he knew that without the golden child "sixth ranger" that they wouldn't succeed. They fought for it but ultimately quit. If they better wrote how the Zeo Powers became decimated and then transitioned to the new Turbo Powers. There’s a possibility of how Justin could have accidentally interfered with the compromise of Rocky’s powers and ended up receiving them due to the decimation of the Zeo Powers. Justin might be accidentally teleported into the Power Chamber with the other Rangers. That’s how I wished I saw it unfold.

I didn't realize the Turbo movie was filmed during the filming of Zeo. I always found it weird how they quickly cycled everything out.
First they replaced the powers without explanation/losing the one ones.
Then they replaced Zordon and Alpha with "Not Divatox" (same actress though but they saved the missing sister subplot for In Space) and "Ghetto Alpha" as the new mentors.
Then they replaced all the Rangers (except Justin unfortunately)
This could have been a cinematic passing of the torch if done properly. Keep the Zeos with their powers but establish a need for new Rangers.
I liked that Zordon had to go home to help out his home planet but IMO the Zeos should have gone with. That would create the reason for making a new team other than "oh, you guys are too old to be child solders so pass on your powers to new teens".

You were born what you were born at the end of the day so it's just NATURAL HUMAN INSTINCT to promote a person to be what they were born first before they start promoting and "teaching" anything else.
Half these kids end up regretting gender changes and end up ruining their lives.
That's why most SMART parents make their children wait until they get old enough to fully understand what they are doing before they allow or accept it.

As often as people complain about the change from Zeo to Turbo, Zordon explains in the movie that the Turbo keys were based on Lerigot's magic key, and would let the rangers follow Divatox thru dimensions to Maligore's location, something no previous power set could do. As for the Zords, the rangers needed to _follow_ Divatox because she had hostages, so the rangers couldn't just kill her outright with what they had. In order to follow her, the rangers needed a magic boat, and Zords that could shrink to fit inside the boat, something no previous Zords could do.
The rangers needed the new powers because despite growing stronger over time, the Zeo powers and Zords just weren't enough for that specific mission. Chances are, the Turbo powers were actually stronger, at least at the time, because Zordon and Alpha had the additional knowledge from Lerigot.

By the time I followed Power Rangers, generational seasons of different teams with different characters was the norm? Like my takeaway is that a Power Ranger is not a specific group of people, but different people across time and space all with a common goal-fighting evil to save the world. That's honestly more fitting for the feeling of "I want to be a Power Ranger someday!" feeling a kid gets. If the story's only about the MMPR cast, how could *you, the viewer* be able to become a Power Ranger? There's a sense of legacy and tradition of living up to the many people that came before you, rather than just a single group.
    Once a Ranger, Always a Ranger-No?
The new motto used by Tommy and Jason in the recent Teamups "Rangers Forever, Defending Together" is so cheesy and lame tbh.

Especially the finale, where the Rangers are basically thoroughly defeated and everything looks grim for them.

my grammar school had essentially decided things like Pokemon and Power Rangers weren't cool anymore by the time Turbo happened so I'd definitely fallen out of it by then.
it wasn't until mid to late high school that I found out everyone else in my generation had continued watching up to the finale of the Zordon era, so I did at some point watch all of In Space on Netflix just to see how it ended.
years later I became a massive tokusatsu nerd who heavily prefers Sentai to Power Rangers but the nostalgia for the first season or two will always remain.

My Shuki Levy counter almost exploded with this episode. Can we finally get a video dedicated to this modern day maestro?! It’s been a long time coming.

Turbo and Carranger (I think that’s what it’s called) have some of the best Ranger suit designs in the entire franchise

We *need* that uncut version of this. It might actually turn it into a decent movie, the way that the uncut version of Batman Vs. Superman actually becomes a decent movie, unlike the theatrical release trash.
Despite being the in-continuity entry, Turbo had way more plotholes and ignorance towards the show than the first, out-of-continuity, movie did.
The way it just totally ignored all the story threads left at the end of Zeo was inexcusable - Zedd & Rita taking back their Palace from the Machine Empire, Jason getting with Emily at the end of Zeo, Bulk & Skull's secret assignment, Trey of Triforia's fate, and of course the ignorance and absence towards the Zeo powers - and probably more besides. It felt like they just stopped caring.
Scrolling exposition text says it all really. They shouldn't have needed that. If you have to do that, you know that you've probably cut corners you shouldn't have. I know the first movie did it too, but that was more a "This is what the Power Rangers are about" thing for people that never had seen the show, rather than going out of the way to try to set-up a scenario to give the movie a reason to exist, which is the way it's used in the Turbo Movie.
At that point Power Rangers had enough lore and background going for it, they absolutely should not have needed to do that if the script had been on-point.

I was a part of the origional fandom, and by turbo, I think we were tired. I remember going to see the movie in theatres because we still watched the show on TV, and we did not know what was going on with out the movie, so we went and saw it. I don't remember my initial thoughts about it, but looking back, I was not a fan.

I enjoyed watching the power rangers, then later in life watched the Super Sentai series...oh what a difference between the two. Currently watching the new ohsama Sentai king-ohjers, basically my lord squad king king rangers...lol I'm just enjoying the ride.

as a ranger fan since 93 myself, ill say this I loved the fact that they used practical effects for the megazord. Sure you can tell its cg for some parts during the transformation but the fact that someone went out of their way and studied the sentai counterpart RV Robo and used the toy design as the transformation was just the cherry on the cake!

Power Rangers Turbo was a highlight of my childhood. Most people said that zords turning into cars was a turn-off.. but for me it was pretty cool. I bought a 2nd hand turbo megazord in my late 20s, really worth it :)

"Adding a little kid" felt like THE MOST '90s way to tell a viewer they were too old for a franchise. At least that was my experience.

Turbo brought me back to the franchise as a kid, I stopped watching when Zeo started as I hated the thought of costume changes but I was always a mighty morphin fanboi and I guess the thought of a new movie was enough to entice me, it didn't get a cinema release over here if I remember right (UK) but I did pick up the movie day 1 into a vacation with no VHS I spent 2 weeks analysing the case reading and going over it. I was still only a kid myself and I had no issues with Justin. I still haven't completed a watch of Zeo, despite falling back in love with the franchise in 2003, although ive missed alot of the newer stuff.

I remember seeing this at the movies with my older sister and was surprised she wanted to see it because even I as a kid thought it looked like it'd be bad, and it was, cheap and boring at the very least. I kinda checked out of the show when all the original ranger actors had left. I did get a photo with David Yost during a comic-con a few years ago and have the Threezero Red Ranger figure at my work desk, because MMPR is the nostalgia sweet spot for me.

All I remember about watching this movie as a kid was wishing the zords were animals instead of cars, thinking the movie was way too long, and finding it boring :/ also finding the kid morphing into an adult super confusing
