  • My go-to Thermometer Fireboard is now available in Europe. If you use this link (European customers only) bbqeurope.idev... I will get a commission. A great way to support my channel. Thanks folks.
I have just bought this cool add-on to my kettle that let's me cook authentic stir fry outside. It get's blazing hot in no time and it's a lot less messy than wok cooking inside. The company that makes it is German and the do not (yet?) sell their products in the US. But you can always place a wok on a chimney starter for a similar effect.

Note: I have bought this accessory, this is not a paid product placement.

That is one seriously cool gadget! Now you have my mind working on how I can do something similar since it's not sold in the US.

Two options you can try straight away: if you have the GBS grate and a wok, just make sure you get us much heat under the whole as anyhow possible. I didn't like the Weber wok too much since it doesn't have a handle and it's cast iron. Second option for extreme heat: place wok on top of lit chimney starter. But please be careful.

      Three words.
      Vortex. Wok Ring.

So a Vortex and a wok ring on the regular grate? Go it. Thanks.

Hey there, thanks for watching. I have never used a vortex but from what I saw, it might do the trick. Not sure. Vortex is not available anywhere near where I live, else I'd give it a try.

That’s a pretty cool accessory, but I think a charcoal chimney would get the job done. Regardless, loved seeing you cook on a wok, and it reminds me that I need to do the same. Cheers!

I would try to secure the chimney in some way. The accessory came complete with the wok and the spatula. It's a bunch of fun to cook that way, if you're into asian stir fries, that is :-). Amazing how hot the wok gets. What I like best: you can prepare your ingredients quite early and start cooking once everyone is at the table. It's so quick :-).

That is a pretty cool gadget, I see Weber sells a wok and a grill with the hole to set the wok in. My grill came with the pop out hole but I do not have the wok........that is an interesting way to keep the wok out of the house, going to have to try it myself. Thanks for the informative video. www.amazon.com/Weber-8835-Gourmet-System-Cooking/dp/B0044EQM9Q/ref=sr_1_57?s=lawn-garden&ie=UTF8&qid=1512907606&sr=1-57&refinements=p_4%3AWeber

actually, when you have the hole in your grate anyway, I'd opt for buying a good wok with a handle. Tossing the contents of your wok is half the fun. Can't do that with the Weber wok.

Good point, I have a Vortex that I have not used yet that might work great for that also. I just happened to notice the extra accessories on the Weber site showed that smaller Wok. Thanks.
