Ali Brennan yes. The slim takes less energy as well which means you wouldnt pay as much for your electric bill. Other than that and the size of the console, they're exactly the same. The pro just has that 4k bs to it to make people pay more.
Optical port is used for headsets like Turtle beach and Astro. since the slim doesn't have an optical port if you want to use the full features of your headset I suggest heading to the support page of whatever brand you're attempting to use, and then find solutions for the Slim PS4 under the specific headset you own. In my case my 1080P HDTV has an optical out port in the back of it, so I plug the USB transmitter into my PS4 Slim via USB and then connect the optical in, into the transmitter, and the optical out into the back of my TV and walaa! If you're PS4 Slim is too far away from your tv for the optical cable that came with your headset to reach you may have to think about buying a longer optical cable online or at any retail location with an electronics section. Typically I believe you can get upto 12ft optical cords for under $30 at most places, and probably cheaper if you look online a bit. Hope this helped clear things up for you! I was scratching my head last night about the same thing but finally figured it out :)
