I think it works pretty well. The Doom soundtrack is very serious and heavy but the Mighty Doom enemies are based off the toys you collect in Doom, so it makes sense that the theme is a bit more goofy and light.

Gameplay is just point and click, while doom eternal includes quick switching, resource management, more advanced movement and advanced mechanics like the falter system.

Mighty Doom's theme is closer to the original melody. It's a good theme and more fitting for that style of game. Christ, the Doom community can be infuriating at times.
