Overall, it is one of the few countries in the world where women can freely visit convenience stores and restaurants alone late at night or early in the morning and visit parks or rivers to enjoy night riding or exercise!

As a native Korean, I am a bit worried about its exaggerated conception of a country. There might be lower chances of being stolen or harmed in Korea, but why test it? There are places and times that you need to be cautious on your own safety here too. You can use your phone outside freely, and not really seen pickpockets these days, but that is pretty much of it. Do not leave you or your valuable possess everywhere every time. You could feed on potential crimes or create crimes. It does not need to be tested.

As a Korean American i got really irritated when Samsung put out their Night Jog ad
And journalists and influencers around the world attacked them and Samsung had to take it down.
They know nothing about Korea and immediately felt the need to victimize all females because of their views. Korean women go partying till 5am with women ONLY groups, nothing happens.
I used to ride the subway by myself from age 6-10 from Shinsa to Gyodae for elementary.
The reason why the average Korean doesn't steal, maim or harm is due to the education system. From grade 1, there are legit classes for ethics and manners/humanity. Its called 윤리/도덕 yoonri/doduk and its uniquely Korean since we use it as an educational platform to create decent humans (or try at least)

My wife and I just came back from a 3 week trip and by the end, I had no issue with her walking by herself. At no point did either of us feel unsafe. In Seoul or at Busan. At one point we stayed near Hongik University and we routinely saw single college females walking alone, around midnight, through alleys... casually. Of course they're probably aware of their surroundings, but not overly so. My nieces are 18 and 23 and I wouldn't have any reservations about them solo traveling to SK.
Some other observations as a Westerner, people left luggage (even small, carry on sized) outside of convenience stores and not look back once. People would leave laptops and backpacks/purses at tables while they used the restroom or went to buy something. Even in public places, things like fire extinguishers and safety aren't locked up and easily accessible. Malls have stores where you don't really go inside a store to see their products. Out in the walkway of the mall.
Where I'm sure there are areas that aren't this safe/they have crime, it's not like the US at all. Especially not like the Bay Area, CA. We both feel in love with SK and would love to live there when it's possible.

when i went to korea, i first got to seoul at around 3 am on a week day, and when i got off the bus from the airport and i was trying to find my hotel, the only person on the street was a girl, alone, walking while using her phone
seoul is ridiculously safe if you ask me, i'm from latin america, so it's a BIG difference, i had a blast walking around korea with my phone, on my back pocket on the subway, not worrying at all about being robbed (where i live i don't even walk around at night, alone or not, can't use my phone on the streets, gotta have my backpack on the front on public transportation, etc)
also, your videos are making me wanna travel so bad, i'm fortunate because travelling used to be such a priority for me before the pandemic, but now everything is even more expensive and difficult
oh my, i miss it SO MUCH 😭😭

Seoul is one of the few places in the world that makes me feel young and joyful again. It's vibrant and lively, and also wholesome in its own way. You'd think big cities - they'd lose that close connection with family/friends and focus more on professional life or individual healing. But in Seoul - at least for me - it was the opposite. I'd got to rekindle all my close connections more in Seoul than any other city out there.

Seoul is probably the safest big city in the world. In fact, South Korea in general is as safe as a country can get. You can literally leave your phone and ipad at any cafe unattended for hours and they will still be there when u get back. You can throw your wallet on the street and leave. An hour or so later, you will either get a phonecall that someone found your wallet, or you will have it sent to you by mail.
It doesnt get safer than that.

I'm Korean, so i can confirm. However, if you leave your phone or ipad unattended for HOURS at a table in a cafe, it might be missing when you come back. This is because the employees at the cafe might have to clear the table so that other customers can use that table. Don't worry. They will safely store your belongings. Just ask the employee for your stuff.

If you come to Seoul, Korea, you will be able to enjoy another much more beautiful night view right in front of your eyes than the usual view of Namsan and Lotte Tower. In particular, if you go up to Baebongsan Mountain and Geumho Mountain in Hawangsimni-dong, Geumho-dong, just a few kilometers between Cheonggyecheon Stream and Seoul Forest Park, you can enjoy badminton (get off at Cheonggu Station or take a taxi) and there are many beautiful and delicious foods. Also, if you walk slowly for about two hours from the place called Dulle-gil starting from Maebongsan Mountain in Geumho Mountain, you can reach Namsan Mountain This place is very close to Gwangjang Market Jungang Market. It is close to Seongsu Bridge, Hannam Bridge and Dongho Bridge on the Han River. Therefore, it is very close to Apgujeong Station on Gangnam Station. I hope you have a wonderful and beautiful trip to Seoul blog.naver.com/koam0816/221325946668

@@marting3207 No. I was literally born and partially raised in Korea. I know we might do something like this because I used to work at Cafe Bene in Daegu, South Korea. I remember once somebody accidentally left their cell phone on one of our cafe table, and there were many customers. My supervisor asked me if I saw someone who used that phone. Because we didn't know, we waited for some time, but eventually, we moved the cell phone so that other customers can use the table. Several hours later, a lady came in asking for her cell phone. We told her that we do have a cell phone picked up from that table, and after her verifying the phone is hers, we gave it back to her. The only we touched her cell phone was so that other people can use the table. Nothing more.

    To Josh's question at 9:15,
The locals usually would usually call it 고기집 (Gogi-Jib) which would literally translate to 'meat restaurant/BBQ restaurant".
I am Korean and I think this is a very safe country compared to other countries. To some extent, if someone steals something, runs away from a restaurant without paying, or acts rudely, it is often released on community bulletin boards and even news. Most Koreans are good at following the rules. They also have blunt expressions, but if you ask for directions or talk to them, they will give you an incredibly friendly answer. Koreans are a little shy. We're always open-minded, so talk to us first. You'll have an amazing experience^^ Thank you for the fun travel video.

9:03 we do literally call it 고깃집 in tatal-way which is Korean for "bbq-restaurant " LOL, but sometimes we also name bbq- resto with the specific part of meat such as 차돌집(youve been above), 삼겹살집 which is Korean for Chadol(part of pork) restaurant, pork-belly(another part) restaurant. I hope you can try more Korean local food like marinated pork Galbi ( 양념돼지갈비, sweet marinated pork) Jogbal (족발, steamed pork legs ), jjajangmyeon(짜장면, black bean noodle), Korean bunsik** ( 분식, kinda street foods like Tteokbokki and Soondae), and Yangneum fried chickens (양념치킨, marinated one, and many flavor choices like cheese one) These foods all is very easy you can find the restaurants around. and all of these are good with alcohol, only bunsik, chickens are good for beers, the others are good with Soju. It's kinda local rules. I'm happy that you guys are enjoying. hope you have great fun while you guys are here in Korea. waiting for the next videos.
