New challenges for for musicians, producers. Not only record and mix and master - now you need to live stream or produce video as well. Because you need to get out there to stay or become relevant. For this a completely different set of audio setup is required. If you are interested in details reg. this. Please comment!!!

When you do the number$, let alone factor in the in/out options... size, and ability to use live or for a home studio (or track live shows) the XR18 and MR18 are hard to beat.
I don't think people realize the flexibility units like this can give them for studio monitoring. They get it for live work, but just don't think bigger picture about connecting things like a P1 or other headphone amp to the Aux outs.

VERY useful info. Thank you Thomas. I have been considering a mixer/interface for a while now, and this is pushing me towards buying one.

Waiting on amaxon to deliver my XR18. These boards look like they need a full time sound guy to run. Band is booked solid all summer and I don't want to have to babysit a complicated board.

Bought the Behringer XR18, and can't believe it was only $500 for all the live & recording features it has!

Great video. I'm about to pull the trigger on this one. My needs is on a bands perspective. Our next album might be recorded through this Midas, cause we play live and record in a live room and we need about 16 tracks simultaneously. I'm considering this solution over the 8 channel focusrite scarlet saffire plus some extra 8 channels via adat of some other unit. Do you think this is a good idea?

Great video! 🔥 I’m considering selling my Apollo Twin and using the MR18 live and in studio with Pro Tools for sessions. I’d be interested to hear how you feel about the MR18, now that you’ve been using it for some time.

HI! great video!! one question, Is it posible to send clean guitars and bass, even a midi drum to midas and in a computer use STUDIO ONE ADD EFFECTS like BIAS FX, SUPERIOR DRUMMER, AMPLITUBE or DSP NEURAL(amp and effects sim for bass and guitars) and that final sound send to monitors for the midas OUTPUT, is that possible?? or the midas will send me the clean original sound for the monitor output?

I've been using the Behringer version with Pro Tools 2021.x and have been able to use BIAS FX for guitars, Kontakt/Steven Slate Drums with my VDrums and have it return the processed sounds to our headphones for rehearsal, AND I can record the rehearsals in Pro Tools as well. This thing is amaxzng for $500

Hallo, Tom! Liebe Gruesse aus Austin, TX. Thank you for the great, in-depth and well done review/recommendation. People should take this to heart. Especially for smaller bands the rack mixers are invaluable! We are using the XR18 for my sons band. They are 13 and 14 years old, but rock pretty good. We have been using the XR18 live and in the studio. An awesome device! We are now running out of ports, so either moving to the X32R/DL16 combo or a MOTU 828es/Stage B-16 (not decided, yet). Here a sample of the kids live. We used the XR18 for live PA (vocals, keys, guitar and drums via mic and bass through DI) as well as simultaneously recording to an attached laptop via USB- so versatile! I bought a Behringer xr18 several years ago this looks identical. I have a feeling they are as Midas is owned by Behringer and they use Midas preamps. Everything is 8dentical the software effects etc and the same 2.4g crappy wifi which is useless in a live situation everyone throws an external router on. For live use each band member can use their own phone to give them their own personal mix it's great walking around a club and adjusting the foh sound with my iPad. You get to hear what the audience does and tweak on the literal spot. Best thing our band ever bought. I particularly like the multi and compressor we put across the main outputs

I also own an XR18. It has "Midas Designed" preamps but the firmware and effects are exactly as the MR18's. The ultranet port is great for wired in ears using the P16M for static band members. Also have a P16D distribution switch wit POE to feed 16 channels to each P16M and every musician controls their 16 channels at their taste without compromising the FOH mix. Like them more than the AVIOM system and they cost a fraction of what AVIOM costs.

@@williamshaneblyth Pretty unbelievable for $500. Even as a USB interface, but throw in all the live stuff, built in fx, aux sends etc etc!

I own the XR18 and love it. Contemplating where to go now as I need more ports. XR18 is awesome and we use it in the studio and live. The Behringer and Midas sure share the physical design, but much like with the X32/M32 and S16/DL16 the stuff under the hood is significantly different. Midas being the superior choice. However, I am using the XR18 and it is plenty good with what I am doing...
