    We found that by raising the waterers on a block to about chest level of the baby chicks, they tend to keep the waterers cleaner. We never raise it so high they can't reach it, just having it off the ground but still accessible helps keep the waterers clean longer.

      Great suggestion! We typically use the hanging waterers so they're off the floor a bit too, but always start our chicks with the ones you see in the video. I'll have to mention putting a base underneath them next time we start our breeder chicks! :)

    I put the waterers on a upside down rubber feed pan. They can get on the feed pan to drink and it helps to keep bedding out

      Great idea! I'll have to mention that next summer when we start our breeders! After a few weeks, we use hanging waterers which are off the ground. Thank you for the tip! :)
