ప్రొఫెసర్ సాంబమూర్తి ‘దిన రాగ మాలిక’ అనే వర్ణాన్ని రచించాడు. ఇందులో “రక్తి రాగములైన బిలహరి, ధన్యాసి, మధ్యమావతి, కళ్యాణి, పూర్వకళ్యాణి, కేదారగౌళ, మోహన, భూపాళములు గల” అని అనుపల్లవుంటుంది. అలాగే పార్థసారధి ‘నక్షత్ర రాగ మాలిక’ అనే రాగమాలిక రచించారు. ఇందులో ఒక్కో ఆవర్తనానికీ ఒక్కో రాగం వాడారు. తాళం మాత్రం ఒకటే ఉంటుంది. సాంబమూర్తి వినూత్నంగా రాగమాలికలో స్వరాలన్నీ కర్ణాటక సంగీత పరంగా బాణీ మాత్రం వెస్ట్రన్ సంగీత పరంగా ఒక రాగమాలిక రచించారు. ఇలా అనేకమంది వాగ్గేయకారులు రాగమాలికలని రచించారు. సాధారణంగా కర్ణాటక సంగీత కచేరీల్లో ఈ రాగమాలికలు వింటూ ఉంటాం. స్వాతి తిరునాళ్ రచించిన ‘భావయామి రఘురామం‘ అనే ప్రసిద్ధి చెందిన రాగమాలిక తరచు కచేరీల్లో పాడుతూనే ఉంటారు. స్వాతి తిరునాళ్ ‘కళ్యాణి ఖలు యద్కథ త్రిజగదం’ అనే రాగమాలిక శ్లోకాన్ని రచించాడు. ఇందులో వాడిన రాగాల పేర్లు కళ్యాణి, మోహన, సారంగ, శంకరాభరణం శ్లోకం ప్రతీ పాదంలోనూ వస్తాయి.
