I will help you with some tips. It's my profession to repair water damaged iPhones and Macbooks and love your videos. Since you don't own a ultrasonic bath and and special liquid you can try this: Alcohol will NOT breakdown watermarks or oxidation effectively. Use deminralized water and household water stain remover for the shower and a toothbrush. After that, Check oxidated capacitors (black solder joints) with multimeter for short to ground. Check connector for disconnected legs. Use an usb Ampere meter to check if your switch draw any normal charging current. And the cable that was eaten by oxidation is for your LCD backlight, if I'm correct. That's why you have no image. Fix that first. You are in a learning process and this is the next step you get better in fixing stuff and boost up your skills. Out of comfort means you are growing. You can do it!

I'm new to this stuff, and I was wondering how come the alcohol doesn't damage anything? I know water obviously damages it, but why not the alcohol? Probably a dumb question, but I'm curious.
In short, the alcohol is high content with low water. *Isopropyl Alcohol is used* in medical fields to sterilize cuts, scraps, etc, not to wash your windows. So this is why Isopropyl is used for cleaning, with it's low water content and very high alcohol content it dries fast, and isn't conductive. *About conductivity* salinity, salt concentration, is a big factor in conductivity (for water) , Salt Water, aka oceans, if struck by lightning can travel 5 miles if what I read is correct. *Fresh Water* has contaminates, whether that be chemicals or organisms (tap water, rivers, etc.) those electrons in chemicals/organisms help transfer electricity (Think about a guy with epilepsy, the person during a Grand Mal (the one seen most in TV/Movies) is having their nervous system being in a spasm because of the electricity in their brains thus "shorting out" their internal circuits, the reason I said this tidbit is to say that all organisms have electrons in them.) *Distilled Water* so, without any salt content, without any organisms/chemicals, etc this Distilled Water should be safe right? Ideally Distilled Water is safe, because without an /abundance/ of ions it does not conduct electricity /very well/ BUT still does. *(This is the TL;DR)* *Back to Isopropyl Alcohol*, it dries /very/ fast, and is quite clean (as in very little - if any - impurities) because of the uses it has in the medical field (sterilize/sanitize) so it makes the best option to use on electronics due to the drying near instantly and having no salinity that may cause corrosion or leave behind contaminates. *TL;DR*
Given the suspicious scratching around the capacitors, one wonders if the seller intentionally destroyed the unit out of spite and to prevent anybody else fixing it
Yeah Elliot good luck with these Switches, I got two really cheap and they seemed to work perfectly but both have big hardware issues that I currently don't have the tools to fix. At best if your WiFi chip is faulty you can reflow the solder with hot air, at worst there are multiple hardware issues. These things are pretty powerful but also very delicate.
I would do a damage limitation exercise if you can by ascertaining whether the rest of it is good, the screen etc then work out what needs to be changed so you aren't chasing phantoms and end up down the road quite frustrated. If you do get the original board working, prob be worth it reflowing pretty much everything you can as corrosion can bite through smd solder joints a treat and you don't want to just kick the can down the road :)
That's shocking. What I don't understand is why can't anybody look after their stuff properly anymore? They'll pay ££££ for something then just lob it around, spill stuff on it. Good effort trying to get that to work, Elliot, keep trying mate.
Can’t wait to see you work on the switch more. I now know how to change the battery for my switch if needed.... cause my battery for my switch is kinda currently not the best.

Awesome video, man. Can't believe someone would intentionally scratch up the inside of a Switch like that. Also, would you be able to make a video on replacing/fixing the microphone on a New 3DS XL? That would be super handy rn, lol. Cheers!
Can we fix it!!!
h2o :I'm about to end my man Vince's whole career
Buyer:Is it water damaged
Seller: *No J0y c0ns 0nly TableT*
how to fix it :
send it to Nintendo and say it never worked 😂😂
[NK] Squid NT yes this is joycon drift please fix
Me: I'm got a bunch of broken electronics I should be working on
Also Me: watch this guy fix stuff, fix your stuff later
Geez, never realized how dusty a switch gets inside, should I be taking mine apart and dusting?
Crunchy 181 the warranty being void is illegal and is 100% unenforceable laws have been placed to deem them illegal
I get excited whenever I see a new upload from Elliot! 😊
Ah thanks!
Reminds me of TronicsFix's content a bit! Just so used to of the nintendo switch stuff hahaha
I love Steves content!

Title: 24 pound Nintendo switch.
Thumbnail: 20 pound note and 5 pound note.
Me: so that equals...
This is sad bro I am saving up money all by myself and selling some precious items to just barely afford one. Whoever just neglects and ruins expansive and nice tech is spoiled ⛓🔪💀
@Мечтать yuh yuh
"Thanks for buying , well thanks for selling" XD
Hey it’s pretty good practice if you decide to solder the stuff in, given that they’re pretty small and close together
*(This is the TL;DR)*
*Back to Isopropyl Alcohol*, it dries /very/ fast, and is quite clean (as in very little - if any - impurities) because of the uses it has in the medical field (sterilize/sanitize) so it makes the best option to use on electronics due to the drying near instantly and having no salinity that may cause corrosion or leave behind contaminates. *TL;DR*
@@MrCODEmaster00 Thanks for the eyplanation.
Props to you for showing a failed project. So many other channels make out this stuff always works. Nice one!
That reply, my lord! Nice to see the English Education System working well for the next generation!
Daughter: sees this video
Also daughter:sees switch get fixed
Dad:😬
Daughter:😑
unplug the battery before you do anything mate!!
Given the suspicious scratching around the capacitors,
one wonders if the seller intentionally destroyed the unit out of spite and to prevent anybody else fixing it
wHaT?!!?! Woah, damn you got lucky(ish))! Nice change from the traditional gameboy ds 3ds content!
Still not bad for a spare screen and parts. Ive revived a 3ds that was found in mud, full of it. Keep at it mate! :)
Dont know if the screen works yet!
"£24 Nintendo Switch"
Shows £25 in thumbnail
what?
@Ein UA-cam Nutzer
in the thumbnail there was £25 pounds
@@khmerkandal121 are you German
He is the Hardware Sherlock! Superb observation dude. Impressed! 👍
Well at least you tried, good job! 👍🏻
I hope you left that guy some bad feedback for lying like that so that future buyers know what they're getting into.
It ain’t milk it’s toothpaste kid tried to brush one of his amibo characters 😂
Yeah Elliot good luck with these Switches, I got two really cheap and they seemed to work perfectly but both have big hardware issues that I currently don't have the tools to fix. At best if your WiFi chip is faulty you can reflow the solder with hot air, at worst there are multiple hardware issues. These things are pretty powerful but also very delicate.
I sure hope you left him some bad rep. And if he didn't put in the description that it had water damage I'd ask ebay for my money back.
he said that it was broken
Love you're content man! Keep it up!👍❤
Ask MyMateVince he knows all about dodgy sellers like that on eBay if it looks and appears too good to be true it probably is Elliott
@OMEGGA I understand I just hate to see people get ripped off
I love this videos... Its nice to repair broken thinhs instead of throw them away
The real question is: by whom and for what was his daughter used?
Hey Elliot, love from Pakistan. I love your videos...keep it up, you've peaked my interest in retro stuff that I never knew I had.
I'd love to see if you can repair it. Don't lose hope
I know you can do it!
These videos have made me want to buy and fix broken electronics and thanks for that
I think you and MYMATEVINCE need to collaborate some time
why and how would that work? like a competition like he did with tronicsfix?
Keep em coming, even if you fail. at least we can get a look at the unsolvable issues!
Ye. Keep up the good work
Thanks
@@TheRetroFuture Thx so much for replying. BTW Jersey is such a nice island :)

Can Vince fix it?
1:17 that's definitely going up on
r/IHadAStroke_ebay
I would do a damage limitation exercise if you can by ascertaining whether the rest of it is good, the screen etc then work out what needs to be changed so you aren't chasing phantoms and end up down the road quite frustrated. If you do get the original board working, prob be worth it reflowing pretty much everything you can as corrosion can bite through smd solder joints a treat and you don't want to just kick the can down the road :)
Jezus, how would that guy wash his car? Wash with water and then dry it off using screwdrivers and sandpaper?
this is amazing man, gg keep the good stuff coming
That's shocking. What I don't understand is why can't anybody look after their stuff properly anymore? They'll pay ££££ for something then just lob it around, spill stuff on it. Good effort trying to get that to work, Elliot, keep trying mate.
Can’t wait to see you work on the switch more. I now know how to change the battery for my switch if needed.... cause my battery for my switch is kinda currently not the best.
"When did it stop breaking"
just found the channel and the vid. mate, you (and your incredible patience) are heros :)
That person is a switch scammer on ebay they talked exacltly like that
I didn’t understand most of the parts and things said, but it sure was fun to watch!
