Just letting you know I love your channel. I just got into cycling within the last year. I did it to lose weight as I'm pretty overweight but also found I like gravel riding. It's cool to have a channel out there that's not from one of these super athletes that I can never hope to do what they do given my age (50) and fitness. But seeing someone that I feel like I can do similar things as (maybe at a slower pace) as I gain fitness and experience is motivation for me. I'm always going to be a back of the pack kinda rider.😂
Looks like a full race experience! That line up for the single track was wild! Your commentary throughout your videos is so entertaining. Love the race recaps, great videos.
Yea it is hard to imagine that many folks waiting in line to get on the singletrack, but after that first section things generally went pretty smoothly. Not sure what else they could do, there was plenty of road to get things sorted out before then, guess we just did a bad job of it haha. Thanks for watching!
What an awesome event! I saw myself in your video. I was on my mountain bike blasting down a gravel descent just ahead of you at 5:03 blue & white jersey. Can't wait till next year! Maybe I'll get a gravel bike instead of suffering on my mountain bike again, lol!
Looks fun. Think you chose the right tool. Looked like most were on gravel bikes, but that would take better under biking skills than many have on single track.
6:32 Man, I wished I would have watched your video from last year. If you all struggled with the Fandango with the higher clearance as a true MTB hardtail tandem... We put a world of hurt on the Powderkeg over the 110mi. I will say anyone looking for a gravel tandem that will venture off into these types of unknowns, really needs to bring a true MTB tandem, maybe with front suspension to handle those stairsteps and switchbacks.
I have a really hard time wrapping my head around just how difficult it must have been to ride any tandem on the long route of this event, but especially a gravel tandem like your Salsa. You guys are amazing! I would certainly agree with you though, a legit MTB tandem would be the way to go. It's just really tough on the switchbacks and bedrock no matter what. Congrats again on an amazing effort Tim, wish I would have seen you guys out there so I could have said hello!

Really appreciate those comments, keep at it!
Such a fun race! See you next year!
Indeed, Can't wait!
Looks like a fun, challenging event, we will definitely have to eye it for next year. Nice new whip!!
It fills up quickly but is for sure one to make it to at some point. Can't say I'm interested in the 100+ distance though.
@@backofthegravelpack Watched Ty Rides video on the 100 and it looked less fun.
Watching folks cross that creek and finish in the dark pretty much solidified that for me haha.

Awesome, there were some pretty great gravel descents on the route this year!
It was super fun to relive that! Great job editing. You hated/loved all the same places I did 😂
Haha thank you I appreciate that!
This looks like a fun route!
I imagine a flat bar gorilla monsoon would be perfect for this type of riding
But that epic sure is epic!
Yep that would be a great rig! Especially if it had a dropper post on it.

Yea I was glad I rode what I did, but can also understand those that went with the gravel bike as well.

Big rides=eating event with a cycling problem.
No doubt. I shoulda brought better snacks!
With the amound of people you were passing, you may have to change your name to "Middle of the Gravel Pack"
Middle of the back of the pack maybe? Haha
It’s a nice touch that you used Miley Cyrus on your Instagram post too.
I'm glad someone noticed haha!
