I never thought my music could work with poetry... God... this video... I'm speechless... I wish you all the best!! P.S. 1:42 looks like Orient Express in the middle of nowhere and I don't know how you've done it, but it's filmed like the drone it's on an invisible selfie-stick that it's attached to the train. Incredible work!
Wow thank you for showing me a part of my country I didn't even know existed. It makes all the sense for Portugal to have a cemetery of anchors, what a beautiful idea.
Thank you so much Amanda!! We're having so much fun with these shorter format videos though we have a longer one uploading right now and I can't wait to hear what you think of it :) - Dana
This was amazing, and the anchor cemetery was beautiful but so erie--hard to believe it was 70 years ago. Such an amazing video... standing ovation from CT
I found your videos quite by accident as one was recommended to me on YT. I loved your series on the complete redo of the Van and all that entailed. I guess I'm going to be watching your videos in the forthcoming weeks....Thanks and happy Trails. Stay Safe!
We are on our way to see this today. First video I've watched from your channel but everything about it is stunning. We're new subscribers. Now I think I'll be binge watching all your stuff when we get back from the anchors.
Love you videos guys! You are so inspiring and your videos about Portugal make me want to go back there asap. I actually started urban sketching because of you Dana :)
I absolutely love your videos I've been watching you guys for a year and you really inspire me to follow whatever path I want and explore. I wanna thank you guys for being a positive influence in my life. Never stop doing that you do it so awesome! :)
There is truly nothing more we could hope our videos do than exactly what you wrote in your beautiful comment. Thanks for taking the time to share it with us. Really makes us feel so proud to be sharing our lives this way. Big hugs from Portugal - Dana
I wook up very early today and watched your video during breakfast but the music was so beautiful that I decided to loop the track on Audible and immediately fell asleep again for another 2 hours. Best Wishes from Berlin
This touched me. When I think of the overfishing that happened and how it is still going on today and how greedy humans are about who has the right to the fish and at what costs...it drive me crazy. The peacefulness of the video though...and the poem or what sounded like a poem to me....helped ease the sadness I felt. This was beautiful!
You can visit Arrábida, Setúbal. There you can find "lapa de santa margarida" an chapel inside of an Cave. You can also find "7 bataria de Setúbal" an abandoned military place. In this cost there are the most beautiful beaches of Portugal, in my opinion ;) serch for one and go there with some swimming glasses and swim with the fish. Love from Portugal!
I’m late but love love love this video, I guess we always think about graveyards as places where humans rest but I’ve never really thought about what a graveyard for things would be like and what feelings you could get from it. That place looked so calm and quiet, and with the wind blowing on that sunny day, more than a graveyard of anchors, it looked like a graveyard of memories and all the stories that each anchor on that ground holds, from the moment of their creation to their last day out at sea. Thanks for sharing guys ❤️ (btw Lou I love your sandals where did you get them?😍😆)
No one knows who placed the first of the hundreds of rusted anchors along the sand dunes of Praia do Barril Beach. But locals continued adding the gnarled weights to honor the small tuna fishing community that once flourished in the area. The anchors were used to weigh down the nets for catching tuna. They’re lined up in rows and exist without any real pomp or officiality. Fishing in the area was a dangerous and difficult profession, but the unpredictable waters where the Atlantic meets the Mediterranean were bustling with bluefin tuna. The technique for catching them was unique to the area, and was probably invented by the ancient Romans who colonized the area. Algarve thrived on tuna fishing for centuries, but local fisherman had to give up their occupation in the 1960s when the numbers of fish declined. Their anchors were just left on the beach to rust-until someone came up with the artistic idea.
This is beautiful. Thanks for capturing this bit of Portugal and making me remember this Portuguese word that doesn’t translate “saudade”. ❤️❤️
Need to travel more. Amazing.
And thank you for keeping your (and our) eyes open for the fragility of this little planet.
Such a beautiful video. I can't stop watching everything you'd done.
What an intense video, full of feeling. Congratulations. Thank You!
