I was there standing near the filmer. I was with a group of old school skateboarders at our reunion. Tony Alva was with us and the boss of Vans shoes Steve Van Doren. I was privileged to be at the soundcheck and skate around on my board as they played and the whole sloped area was empty. I was then at the after party with Mark upstairs in the VIP bar. I already have a Devo Duty Now tattoo on my leg. This night was like a dream. I can die a happy man!
Been a spud-boy since 1978. I bought ARE WE NOT MEN on the strength of the review of the album in Rolling Stone. There's never been a time since then that Dev-o wouldn't get me up off my ass and thank God I'm a Secret Agent Man.
As a decades long adherent and utter fanboy, gotta say, this recording is emblematic of a live DEVO show. We've all aged. Yet their performances become stronger as the night goes on. Just like always. This kicks ass. Thank you for the footage and a mostly stable camera angle and sound. My bestie and I have seen them multiple times over the years. This is great fan foootage.
What a night to remember, spuds ! AWESOME !!!!! ,so happy that i manage to see them first and only time 😢 But at least i caught Mark's yellow jacket (missing the right sleeve only) , that's a nice souvenir and memory ! THANK YOU, DEVO ! SEE YOU IN 2073 ;) , "BEAUTIFUL WORLD" ! DEVO FOREVER ❤❤❤❤
I used to listen to the Freedom of Choice album and Gates of Steel and the entire album was great so I listened in a loop. This new light show background video has greatly enhanced and improved the show. Nice compliment to the songs in an excellent balance. This is best show they have done in years!
I saw DEVO live in San Diego during the "Are We Not Men" tour. They played a solid 2 hours, no break, with most of the audience standing and dancing. It was such a great show! Great to see them still going so strong!
I was at that concert, great show. First time I saw them was at San Diego State outdoor concert. First time I seen wireless instruments not directly hooked to amplifiers. So much fun!
I was at this one. Absolute bucket list gig and probably the final chance to see them in the UK. Quality of their playing was top notch and the set list was solid gold (easy enough given their back catalogue).
Dont end the De-Evolution !!! Least come closer to my city one more time!! Much more an influence on rock and roll than the overlords would like to admit.
Don't worry de-evolution is all around us, just look at what's going on all the way to the president down to the average spud. Now we have transgender spuds !
Great concert from legends. Wish I were there. Love Devo. Nice screenshow too. They didn't do that as much in years past. It adds to the excitement of the music.
I always found the best live experience was to watch with your own eyes - not to spend the gig looking at the band on a phone. Maybe I have not devolved enough?
Saw them the night before this, at Green Man Festival in an epic wind and downpour (which added to it in a DEVO like way). They were my festival highlight naturally.
Great! thank you for this work. Far more better audio than the one my crapphone captured. Much more near of my ears still recall from that wonderful nite!
Why is such a killer song (Girl U Want) limited to a minute or so? A total classic simply passed over during their set...come on Spud Boys, give us some time with your classics!
Man, they really sped up the instrumental post-chorus of "Jocko Homo", but I'm glad they played the song. When I first heard that song as a kid, I thought it was the weirdest thing I'd ever heard, but it became my favorite Devo song. 🤓
Amazing, timeless band 💖💖💖💖 But WHY are those people holding their little screens up?? Why aren’t they actually watching history??👎👎 Technology should educate not dominate.
Fantastic gig, but far too short, If this is their farewell tour I would've liked them to be on stage for longer. Playerd their classics. Would've been nice to hear Shout!!
Hey I love Devo but “Gates of Steel” 😬 …just leave the difficult ones out, plenty to choose from. Thanks for the upload btw, got tired of all those adverts mind boo
The Farewell Tour? B.S. I saw DEVO at the Fillmore in SF in 1989. They said it was their FINAL TOUR. They played the first few songs sitting on stools and asked the crowd if they knew why. They said it was because they'd been taking it up the ass by the musical industry for years and they just wanted to prove they could still sit down. That was 34 years ago! FINAL TOUR my ass. Don't believe the hype.
Bummer. I saw the man on the stage scream "Put me back in my cage!" But not the guy in the pit spraying blood when he spit. But that's Planet Earth for ya...
Bummer. I thought this was actually "Professionally Recorded" instead of someone's bouncing unsteady blurry shitty sounding cell phone. It's called a "steady cam" and "Professional microphone". otherwise its all just a waste of effort and time, when you could be enjoying the concert instead!
Good to know they are just as unlistenable now as they were when I was a kid. I thought it was just the old low-fi tech that made them sound so awful. Nope.

They still do sound shockingly good, legend

Thank you for the upload, ,and thank U DEVO for 44 years of wonderful spuddy madness.
It was a privledge to be there.A 45 year wish finally fulfilled.
awesome, i gotta see these guys before they retire...but who do i go with?? no one i know understands...lol
They have been on my bucket list for decades. Seeing them November in San Francisco.
Glad we can both will have this memory for a lifetime!!!
been waiting for the chance to see them since the Saturday Night Live appearance... i get misty thinking about how much i love this album particularly
maybe you mean col (cry out loud)? go alone! you shoulder to shoulder with thousands of potential pals!
Same here, I waited 40+ years to see them live, I left happy 👌
I became a Fan back in the mid-ish 70's when they first appeared on SNL... I am still not satisfied..need more DEVO!
Now wasn't that just fab-u-lous?! We're all DEVO...some just don't know it yet!
One of the best gigs of my life, period!
Thanks guys!
Absolutely nobody like Devo. Utterly original. We are fortunate they are in this world.
This wiggly world!

Well, there was Kraftwerk…
@@gregbors8364 Kraftwork were indeed originals, but very different from Devo. We were lucky to have experienced such an era
Brilliant !! Thanx for sharing!!

These guys were so innovative!
Wow fantastic 🎉
imagine this epic show with the residents as first band.

Booji Boy still has the magic touch
They are always good ! Saw them in the 80s and in the 2000s and hope to see them soon.
My best ever gig

Saw Devo in Australia 2015 .Awesome gig.❤
I was becoming a devo fan during this so pissed off I missed it
Great concert from legends. Wish I were there. Love Devo. Nice screenshow too. They didn't do that as much in years past. It adds to the excitement of the music.
Stunning 💕👾😈🥸🤖
they're playing going under & planet earth again!!! Can't wait for the LA show!
Brilliant. These guys are relevant 40 years later.
The best night and we got to sing a line “‘we are Devo’ thanks for sharing Spud
I always found the best live experience was to watch with your own eyes - not to spend the gig looking at the band on a phone. Maybe I have not devolved enough?
I think I was maybe thirteen years old when a friend played me Gates of Steel.
Love ❤

Thanks for posting - couldn't be there, so this is great!
Their excellent Band!! 👍👍🎤😎
Fucking goosebumps ! We had the best music, and were gonna take it with us. Ha Ha Ha Ha. good luck kids.
Haaaaaaaaaa!!!! Je retrouve mes 16 ans 🤘🤘🤘🙏🙏👍🤙👍🤘🤘🎸🎸🎸🎸🎸🎸haaaaaaaaaa!!!!!!!!!!! Merci, Merci DEVO
Great! thank you for this work. Far more better audio than the one my crapphone captured. Much more near of my ears still recall from that wonderful nite!
Thanks for this. Somehow managed to miss out on going.
Looking forward to DEVO coming to Wash DC area.
This looks fun.

They have a lot of great songs… my playlist has about 60 on it
Looks like a fun show.
merci pour le partage vive le rock
Hi 👋 Good concert. I liked Devo when they became known in the late 1970s. Mongoloid which they performed here in the show was a favorite song .
They played Mongoloid!! Love that bass line. Great tune.
Man, they really sped up the instrumental post-chorus of "Jocko Homo", but I'm glad they played the song. When I first heard that song as a kid, I thought it was the weirdest thing I'd ever heard, but it became my favorite Devo song. 🤓
Devo, Chrissie Hynde of the Pretenders, and the Black Key's. All played on SNL and All from the very same high school in Akron, Oh.
Must be the rubber in the water.
@@mattskustomkreations Yes. Rubber Souls! Lol!
The whole gig? It was wonderful.

Most Excellent ¿
Devo at the sphere in vegas
Still so tight, I believe a big part is thanks to the drumming
Q: ARE WE NOT MEN?
A: WE ARE DEVO!
WE MUST REPEAT - D-E-V-O!
WHAT A HOLY CHANT!🤩
Saw them in 83
Look how their music influenced many that followed.
Wow are they coming to USA
It's Not Josh Freese on drums, but JEFF FRIEDL !
Thanks! 👍👍
He drumed for Devo a couple of years before and he 's doing it very well. Devo's fans like him.
What a fantastic concert, the older they are the better they are!😊
Fine drummer. Tough shoes to fill. But he made it
Thanks, I was wondering who the Drummer was. Josh is fully committed to the Foo Fighters now 🥁
Nice setlist, wish it had Blockhead where the drums are amazing.
Believe it or not audio quality matters
Amazing,timeless band 💖💖💖💖
But WHY are those people holding their little screens up??

hey thats the back of my head

I was there, my brother got punched in the mosh pit during Planet Earth
Bummer. I saw the man on the stage scream "Put me back in my cage!"

But that's Planet Earth for ya...
Mark Mothersbaugh only Devo member left sadly
Bob Mothersbaugh and Jerry are still very much alive and still in the band
@@AceRuiner1979 Dude’s prolly a feral Repub. They don’t bother with fact-checking.
you lost me at "don't shoot" DEVO was great, back in the day. Freedom of Choice
