I bought my first luxury watch in February. It is the Tudor Ranger on bracelet. The watch is a beast, it’s very robust and keeps very accurate time. It’s not for everybody, but it fits my stealth wealth philosophy.
I’ve had my Ranger for 18months now and absolutely love it. The dial looks better in person than in stills or video in my opinion and I love the on the fly micro adjustment. To get the best fit I got a 1/2 link from Uncle Seiko and it’s now the best fitting bracelet by far.
I’ve watch all your videos. Some of them multiple times :) this video is by far one the best and not mainly because of the watch but mostly due to the natural flow / vibe. Great job!
Nice “free style” video. I did not think of the Panerai, but now that you point it out … absolutely see it. By the way, that strap you put on the Tudor Ranger looks fantastic.
@@TheGrenadier97 yeah I agree it was a design choice but just my preference. I love the hands. The font as well which does remind me of a Panerai. My thoughts are that they want it to be different enough from the Explorer so it will like not get any other color ways.
thanks to you, i've ordered the paratrooper strap a few days ago. A fantastic strap for this - in my opinion - fantastic watch. Best wishes from Vienna.
Not sure that I see the Panerai you are referencing because I both highly dislike the entire Panerai catalog and I absolutely love this Ranger. Great video though, every video I see on the Ranger makes me like it more.
I passed on a Ranger on the bracelet (and I wasn’t a fan of their nato with the red stripe), but after seeing it on that strap, god I want it again. I also felt that on the bracelet it looked a little too clinical and not like a real field watch.
You could have a point man... It does have similar design cues while drawing from Tudors heritage... I think its classy and restraint yet elegant while remaining functional! Take care Andrei!
Yes, when I was in between Panerai's, I had a Heritage Ranger 41mm. It reminded me very much of Panerai. When you look at the Ranger at certain angles, you just see the hands, very pronounced, floating on the dial, just like a Panerai. I sold the Ranger and am back to Panerai with a PAM 915, with I love, but the Ranger certainly filled the gap for a while.
I had 4 Tudors all together, never gave this one a thought until now. In my mind it's either this or P01, I kinda like the "ba5tardos" of the Tudor range.. but this one wears its weight so well! Anything goes compared to the P01. I would even choose this one over the explorer 1 due to tool-like looks. Lovely review, thank you Andrei.
That's an interesting take. I love The Ranger and enjoy owning it. Tudor seems to have a problem selling anything but Black Bays, with Pelagos models as runner up. In future if the brand remains in vogue unpopular models like this, The North Flag, and some others will end up as prized collectables.
Uu, the electic green one is very nice! This is fresh and good looking! I have to give a second chance to the 41.5 mm cases. I remained a fan of the 40.5 mm ones.
@@BraveBeaters I own a 41.5 and it fits pretty well with my 7 inch wrist. Would love a review to see the green dial and also get the brand name out there. Thanks for responding :)!
Great content once more! Nice try by Tudor, but they still can't beat Longines with the Spirit Ti which I believe is the best field watch in this price range. BTW I can't agree more with the strap you used, the particular one transforms the watch and as I own one too I can confirm that it feels great around the wrist !
I like Tudor as a brand. Had my eye on a Ranger last year but opted for a Black Bay Pro instead. The Ranger is still on my wish list, though. However, not a fan of the T- clasp. It doesn’t stay where it should : the moment I move my wrist too ‘enthusiastically’, it loosens and skips a few positions. Don’t know if this is normal but going to see the AD about it…
I bought the Ranger and the BbPro and use them as everyday watches,my coke gmt master 2 is in the safety box most of the time . For the price Tudor is what the Rolex was in the 90’s .
The Ranger just doesn't make any sense, it's like they made it ugly on purpose to distance it from the Explorer. Why didn't it get applied numerals and markers in the style of the Black Bay Pro? The three-dimensional, solid lume appliqué?
'Ugly' is subjective. I think rolex daytonas are ugly, I love my tudor ranger for its simplicity, legibility, symmetry and comfort, and the fact that in the year ive owned it, (worn every day) apart from my mates, no ones ever noticed or commented on it. Perfect for me.
If it had applied indexed or a sandwich dial I would get it. As is it’s a bit too plain for the price imo. The explorer is plain hit has just enough to be interesting
Recently in Toronto and tried the Ranger on, I really like it. I still wish they would go down a bit more in size. Not a deal breaker, as I think by year’s end I will add one to the collection anyway.Excellent video as always.
I think you nailed your Panerai comparison on this one buddy However, to me the Ranger still looks off proportion to my eye A Panerai manages to somehow pull off the negative space on the dial - perhaps it’s the case shape / proportions? The Ranger seems unnatural by comparison I’d say the Black Bay 36 is the better proportioned Tudor to go for in all respects
I really really like the ranger. But the markers for me remain a bit of a let down. If this had been better I suspect it would have more fans. Andat least one more owner in me
Wow I hadn't thought of it as a Panerai alternative. That being said, I personally don't like the look of it, even though I love Panerai, so much that I want to make an ST3600 powered watch myself.
Shame of the vintage lume, egg shell/off white would be nicey. Also don't like the butt plug hour hand 😊 Round second hand lume pip would be much nicer, drop the red. Don't see the Pam ref?
@@PeteNice29sorry but I totally disagree. I own a 14060m submariner and a 226570 polar Explorer. I own 2 tudors alongside them. The blue blackbay 58 & a ranger 39! I never find that wearing a Tudor from what u have said. U usually find the people with a Tudor understand its heritage and already own Rolex models such as myself. This is my take on the people I’ve met with Tudor. They are an unbelievable watch for the money and I think there are seriously hard to beat for the value of what u get.
I love this Tudor but not actually Tudor's version - I love the San Martin SN0107-G4 with the enamel black dial and gilt hands and indices. It's sooo much nicer to look at than the Tudor's version, and the fact that it costs about 1/15th the price of the Tudor, it's a no-brainer.
I have the San Martin enamel green dial with gilt hands and indices. I still can't justify spending Tudor money on what is essentially a beater field watch. Especially when SM nailed the proportions better on 38.5 case and the applied markers are more legible than printed. If only they did it in a no ghost date high beat miyota 9000 movement and charged 50 quid more it would be faultless. They could slim the case more too with that movement. I am considering a Nezumi Terrain or Nivada Gretchen Arctic as alternatives but really £200 should be a beater limit imo
@Karl-hx6sw I find the thickness of the San Martin just right. They also sell a version of the watch with PT5000 or SW200, for obviously a lot more and still ghost positions. If they put in a SW200-1b no date version of the SW200-1 I would be sorely tempted.
That 6 which is just the inverted9 Is one of the least attractive numerals I’ve ever seen in my life; it’s so awkward. Still, I might prefer these kind of normal, looking in rounded numbers to the square root of style in the Rolex.
I like the red tip to the seconds hand, but it's a lot of money to spend on a pleasant seconds hand. The rest of the watch is, well....I'm sure Tudor tried their best to improve a fundamentally dull design. So many cheaper alternatives with more rugged (SII) movements that look more-or-less the same and fill the military/explorer watch niche more cheaply and honestly. Good canvas strap though. I'll look Diaboliq up.
I'm a big Tudor fan, but I can't get into this one. There's something about the numerals that feels off to me. Could just be the shape, but they just don't look right. And that yellow/green tint is awful. White, or even tan, would look a lot better.
The Ranger is (subjectively) pretty bloody ugly. Besides the entirely empty, cheaply made dial with no personality or redeeming design cues, I can’t decide if the hour hand looks like a terrible shovel or a pointy glans.

I really wish the Ranger had white print. Thats the only thing that keeps me from it. I get the vintage appeal but a different version would be nice.
Can be, I can see it in a monochrome tone. Cheers! :)
I just see it as beige or khaki. It's a colour after all, not a tone that can be obtained solely from the effects ageing.
