I just hit a huge burnout last week and we took a short vacation to the beach for three days. Maannnn I can say that I breezed through an edit today that was killing me last week! I loved the video and the tips were great! Thanks!

Totally agree with how the popular "hustle + grind" mindset can hurt and lead to burnout. We've been doing this for 12 years and we learned this the hard way too. Thanks for sharing your insight on this. Super helpful!

Wow, I love seeing someone in this industry who also loves video games as a way or stepping away and re-energizing.

Perfect timing with this video. I quit filming weddings cause my anxiety got so bad. I got burnt out very fast. Couldn’t keep up with edits. I would take embarrassingly long to finish a wedding. I still have 3 weddings that need to be finished. What sucks is I’ve already moved on to doing other types of film work that I do enjoy more, but because the weddings are still hanging over me, it’s bleeding into my other work and making me want to quit.
Some of these things you’ve mentioned, I’ve tried. But I mainly just never feel rested. I need to try the 1 hour before bed thing.
Some people don’t understand burnout. It’s one of the most destructive things you can face. Where you don’t want to do anything... then the guilt piles on, and you feel like such a failure.
Funny you mentioned finding a hobby. I convinced my wife to buy me a Switch for my bday last month and that’s been helping some. I can play with my nephews that live in another state and that does make me feel like a kid again.
Me and my wife also don’t “work” on Sundays, but we are both involved in church. We have to be there for two services. I play in the worship team and she’s in the nursery. Sometimes, we take Sunday’s off just to actually have a day off. When you add that I’m also in a band, and a youth leader at my sister’s church, it becomes too much.
Anyways, sorry for the long post. I appreciate you making this video. I’m going to try and implement all of these to see how they work with me. I’ve just gotta get through these weddings and that weight will be lifted off my shoulders.
    Thanks!

Dude thanks so much for sharing your heart! I 100% know how you feel! I think the biggest thing for you is just getting done with those weddings then you will feel so much better!

Forestry Films - Wedding Video and Wedding Photography - YES. I think so. It was a good season in my life of learning and growing, but it was never my end goal and I kept making it be my whole life. Thanks man!

I don’t have any tips. But my biggest issue is definitely the set schedule. I struggle with getting up every morning to go to my home office. I’d like to work 9-5 but struggle to force myself into that routine because I can’t find the motivation to roll out of bed. Then I’ll end up working from like 10pm to 3 am. I think everything you’ve said is definitely right. And I’ve definitely had bouts of burnout over the past few years. All stuff I’m trying to work into my life. Trying to find a great alarm clock right now that I can rely on so the first thing I do everyday isn’t pick up my phone.

It really is crazy what a solid alarm clock can do for you! haha. I've found its best to keep my alarm on the other side of the room so I have to get up out of bed and grab it. Keeps me from going back to sleep :) Also having a set schedule is hard to do but once you make it a routine you'll never know how you did life without it!
