  • Hastings has been consistently ranked as the most deprived town in Sussex. It also has the highest crime rate in all of Sussex. Naturally I wanted to give it a visit.
We explore the tourist sights, the backstreets and the town centre.
In this video we check out the town to see what it's really like.

Hastings has the very last beach launched fishing fleet, ive had many a great night out in the Old Town and ended up sitting on the clffs watching the boats leave and dawn rising. I wouldn't swap my time here for anywhere else. It's home and it's wonderfu unique and special. A bit of roughness is easily avoided. It has spirit unmatched by anywhere else.

The main reason Brighton prospered is the rail link to London and the universities. [Thank you Mrs Fitzhurbert.]
St Leonards was the deprived area but the DFL's have bought into it.
St Leonards is now cool because the 'developers' in the 90's could not see a profit in it and all the old shop fronts stayed unmolested. The council now conserve all the old frontages. You have a zero chance of being mugged in the town, always good for a visit. Great fish and chips.

Used to go on holiday there with my folks in the 1950’s, at Coombe Haven Caravan Site. If it rained we would go to the White Rock indoor pool which was great, the town also had an extraordinarily grand outdoor ‘Olympic’ pool… both sadly now gone! Visited the town earlier this summer & was pleasantly surprised by the positive vibe about the place, certainly better compared to how it was 10 - 15 years ago!

I am very intetested in Hastings (I learned my ancestors came from there) and hope to go there soon. I hope you can try a walk around Bexhill. People say it's God's waiting room, it's quiet but is it really such a boring town? Also, I have heard good things about Folkestone, I have heard it's a 'cool' place, hope you can do a walk there too. Having lived abroad I now want to visit the places I never did about my home country. Interesting video, take care!
