Superb tutorial! Nothing beats Silver Efex for crafting stunning B&W photographs. Thank you to Mr. Hughes and the DXO/Nik team!

A very useful tutorial. It was a surprise to see the majestic image of Taughannock Falls, near Ithaca, NY. It's just a few miles from my home.

To be clear, this webinar is just another Nik how-to. I’m not entirely sure why DSI were invited along, but it would’ve been nice to get their professional perspective on prepping images for print. What we got was ostensibly another video on how to use control points.

    Great video for new users.
TIP: Under Photoshop menu bar - windows you can access an Info window that has 'all' the info from an image.
It will stick as small icon next to histogram to re-use.

...the only thing im struggling with is that if you work in the standalone, once you have completed what you have done, the only way to close the file is to 'quit' the program which is Not logical.....you should be able to 'close' the file....Not 'quit' the program.

I am using NIKs for over 20 years by now (especially SilverEfex pro) but each time after using it, I get a bit disappointed (and stop using it) but here is one of the question again:
Is there any way to get temporary rid of the control point circle in the image whilst adjusting sliders for that control point ??
E.g. at 30.52 that orange circle on his vest.
Sometimes I make my local edits (control points) quite small and due to the circle I can't see clearly does whilst editing.
A short key to temporary show/don't show would be highly appreciated.
And I have some other issues with it, (as you get along trying to optimise your work) but for a beginner it is a nice tool.

Someone should tell the presenter that the 10 'Zones' is Ansel Adams Zone System.

I’m sure he knows this but it isn’t quite the same since the way it is used is very different than actual film calibration and processing.

Hi, do you have a liquify tool and if not could you add it, please?.

If only I could purchase just Silver Efex alone. Everything else in the collection is just clutter to me.

I'm sorry to hear your opinion about the other plugins in the Nik Collection. It certainly depends on your preferred photography style.

This is one of the most disorganized presentations I have ever seen.

all the sliding around to get zone zero etc = waste of time. It shows your lack of practical knowledge of how things are going to print
