Thanks! This will be #2 in the playlist, with #1 being cold start; more will follow for systems like INS and RWR, etc. I am making a guest appearance in another CC video soon, though!
@@Checklist_STTgreat thanks. I had to ask on the HB discord to find out there’s a second “plane” in the controls menu for the f4 wso. Probably missed it in the manual but was confused by the basic wso controls present in the f4 UI menu.
I know you’ve been flying with this radar for quite a while now, so how does if fair against a low opponent flying perpendicular to you, as compared to the Tomcat radar? The Tomcat radar is relatively easy to notch so I’m assuming the Phantom’s is probably easier to notch, but am curious. Thanks 🫡
You won't notch it in the usual sense because, as it is not PD, it has no Main Lobe Clutter filter to filter you out within certain ground speed closure regimes. Perpendicular or not won't matter (think F-14 P-STT), but the best you can probably do against it is hug the ground low enough that you can't be steadily STT'd even at absolute minimum gain, and when working with a wingman, try to separate your altitude by 10-15k ft as you close in to kill him; he'll be forced to lose track of one of you while the other cranks to deny missile WEZ. Hope that makes sense.
An important point regarding IFF: the lack of a response should not, in my opinion, be considered an automatic HOSTILE declaration. It simply means the IFF transponder has not replied. Now, at the moment, in DCS this is probably the same. But there’s always the chance that IFF codes start coming into play one day, and I’d discourage this as a shortcut - at least until you understand what’s really going on :)
I agree, but until that happens, or ED decide to reduce fps even further by spamming civilian air traffic, I'm willing to stake someone else's virtual life on it 😜
@@Checklist_STT perhaps it’s different for me because my primary flight experience came from BMS, which has had IFF codes implemented for a few years now, but especially on multiplayer servers, this is a habit that can cause issues and has done in the past. The initial F-18 launch day labelled all planes as unknown/bandit. It was a tough time until they patched that. The recent trend from devs like RB, HB and Aerges to start implementing increasingly more realistic radars and IFF systems suggests to me that sometime in the future this crutch is going to bite more than a few of us on our asses if we don’t understand what’s actually being said by the IFF interrogator.
@@ghostdog688 I wish we had full IFF simulation in every module. Mode 2 is quite useful when you are tring to locate particular buddy and you know it's mode 2 code.
Look for Venom Cinematc video with Checklist STT as WSO. They use Sparrows a lot, although at close ranges it loses track. However, they were able to hit two targets very rapidly, one after another. So, yes, it is usable, although very limited.
For the F-14, I play on GS and Contention when we doing tournaments. I play some helo stuff on various servers like DDCS from time to time, too. F-4 gameplay will most likely be ECW initially.
''another'' 0.o
Yeah. To supplement Enigma's "Interpreting Smudges" video, we decided to drop this one first.
@@Checklist_STT ah i see, well great video man, im curious dont the horizontal lines also show the rmax and rmin shots for the aim7?

missed your high quality video and great streams on DCS, ED is still being ED
Most excited for the WSO seat action in the F4. Stoked you’re guiding us 🙏
Class is in session! Pure awesomeness!!!
The video with Venom Cinematic is great. You two have top level crew coordination.
Believe it or not, that was our first time ever flying together.
Wow! Amazing
Outstanding presentation. I'm definitely subscribing as I love the RIO position.
Love these WSO tutorials! Thanks much!
"Prefer to teach you the most used functions to get you up in the air engaging bandits" You must walk around with a halo around your head my guy
Nah, I just hate needless fluff when what people need right away is clear and concise information.
There it is! Checklisto making those sick GUIDES, Can't wait watch everything you've got on the F-4E
The noisy analog postprocess over the cathode displays is emulated so fast, without hit on performance. How do they do that?
This is excellent, please post that "previous" video ASAP. :D
This should be on the F4 official Manual .. awesome Job Check
Their online manual is an amazing resource.
Just looked at it and its quite good
@@Checklist_STT it was just a compliment.. take it.. their manual is really good.
Thanks fo making WSO-Tutorials!!!
❤️
great video dude , this realy helps!
Thanks and now,how to use radar for the air/ground please.😅
Thanks STT! Can you make a WSO HOTAS video? I can't get controls working for antenna slew etc..
I can do that. I'll be back from vacation on Wednesday.

Is there any indication for available radar lock zone, at first i through radar circle exceeding on lock, means breaking the lock
Not that I'm aware of.
