I really appreciate your honesty on this. I am really surprised that for $300 it does not come with at least the 5-6 player expansion.
I can see this version of Catan going for $85 to $100.
But $300...? That's way too much!
Cynically speaking.... The only point is now they made an official version and third parties will be getting C&D'd soon. 300 dollars is a laughable ask when you can 3d print/sculpt for way less.
In Germany this version is available starting with 270 Euro.
@@ignitedxblaze - it seems to be better material than 3D printer plastic. Seems more like some plaster, way heavier than plastic pieces. And maybe it is a small edition, only mass production would bring the price down a little. But it would not find the way into my house either. Too much money, I‘d rather buy some nice other games for this amount.

$300 and you get a flimsy tray and incompatibility with all the expansions.

For $300 it should have been in a wooden box.
Not being able to shuffle the hexes, will make it difficult to truly randomize the tile placement.
Yeah, you are going to need something like a deck of cards with a card for each hex for shuffling. It was not included (have not watched the entire video)?

You could use three of each of the elements (I know there's not one for desert, maybe use a development card or something) and then shuffle them, if anything close your eyes and move them around to shuffle? Idk just an idea
Use an app to shuffle the tiles and lay down as shown..

You're not the only one who hasn't played much Catan! I picked up Catan, Seafarers, and the 5-6 player extensions for both when all four boxes were on sale. Still haven't played them yet because I have other games I'd rather play first. I think the 2-player Catan games look more interesting to me. Thanks for the unboxing video -- it was cool to see the 3D edition -- but it seems underwhelming to me.

$300 US is such a scam. In Costco Canada right now they’re selling for $89 CAD!
Great game, unfortunately, this edition is dated (reprint) and isn't worth the investment.
Remember the "Outrage" when the new edition of Starfarers was 60€/80$? I don't a 240€ value increase with this Edition.
Wow that equates to $406 Australian plus the inevitable loading they place on our goods we’d be lucky to get this for under $500. Not worth it unfortunately. Something like this is an opportunity for developers to get a bit of excitement about an old game happening and I think the price point misses that totally. Esp when you think avid Catan lovers don’t really play vanilla version as they have all the extensions

Nice as a collectors item, but I'm not sure id actually play this. Thpugh I'm not really a fan of Catan. It feels very long.

Definitely not worth the price tag. 100$ would be a fair price. With 3d printing somebody can upgrade base game for half the price(300$) easily
I got the base 3D at Costco here in Alberta Canada for $90 CAD (about $70 USD) Also just got Seafarers and cities knights 3D for $250 CAD (About $200 USD) online including shipping. $270 USD for both 3D versions seems solid. I also read they are working on 5 to 6 player expansion for 2024.
