Irene, amazing!!! This is an IDEAL Mephisto Waltz. Very rare to play this piece and really take _care_ and get to the core of what it is without leaving everything behind to just crash through it with maximum con fuoco. Really congratulations! (Though spring for a tuning next time! :P Though it kind of synergizes with the whole strings tuning up effect, maybe it was intentional, lol.) Amazing playing!
Thank you, David!!! It was a late night of recording... no tuners were willing to stay up well into the witching, or shall I say, the devil's hour. I'll go with the "intentional strings tuning up effect" as my excuse. xD
After reviewing multiple recordings I decided to show my music appreciation class this one. Solid technique, musicality without excessive gesture. The sound recording of piano and concert hall sounds so true, I feel like I'm there. The camera work brings multiple angles without being distracting. Beautifully done, all around! Thank you!
I'm learning this piece right now! Some men play it incredibly fast for showyness, but I love the way she plays it. Exciting, yet a good tempo to enjoy the phrasing and harmonies. What an incredible pianist!! Thanks for giving me hope!!!
you can overpedal in romanticism. actually, liszt quite likely intended a lot of pedal if you'd take a look at the sheets from emil von sauer as example, one of liszts best students
Finally not showing off, but actually showing the musicality and emotion of this piece. Incredible, thank you so much!
You are such a beautiful pianist Irene, brava!

very beautiful performance! one of my favorites 19th century piano music.
A simple like is not enough to express how it moved me; bravissima
Virtuoso material! I like your touch. Commanding yet tender. You make it look easy, well...as easy as a Liszt piece could be, Bwahaha!!!
Musicality also in the slow parts. Lovely and good audio too.
Incredible!

Great piece and best of luck. By the way, this is plenty fast and impressive technically. Glad you enjoyed :)
'some men' why do you have to make it a gender thing, may I remind you that Franz was a man?

How much time do you spend learning this piece?
Probably at least 6 months. Likely more.
This is probably a definitive reading. Congrats !
So can we say that the octave glissando is really common? And that Lang Lang playing it isn't rare?
How to play the octave glissando?
Its done using both hands
Hier zal ze ooit zo melancholisch op terug denken. De puurheid, ......
played better than khatia 🫢
octave leaps are a mess; over pedalled; and messy - thumbs down.
Bulbophile Nobody can do the octaves without some mistakes. Most recordings are edited and corrected. Pedalling is very subjective.
Can we please hear your octaves? We'll wait.
Her leaps aren’t even that messy, just a few little wrong notes. Nobody’s perfect.
