I feel this largely depends on the context of the person reviewing / posting.... if you've got a business/professional relationship with the manufacturer where you're regularly using their gear, especially across multiple people, etc.... this video and your advice is 100% spot on...
I think expecting that same type of professional behavior from people who aren't purchasing gear in a professional context is good... and good companies will respond well to direct communication by such people..... but many end users of equipment have been trained by worse companies that "if you directly address a company and you aren't a 'named account', you can expect exactly zero response; social media is your only hope".
    It's a really unfortunate situation.

      Thank you for your comment.
      Very good perspectives. Thank you.
No matter your relationship to “must” manufacturers. If you send them a respectful email, theres still good chances that will respond.
We owe that to them at the very least.
But your first action to go to social media and snap photos of the item, and not disclose all the relevant information is a total dick move.
Thats all Im trying to get at.
Yet totally agree with you comment.
It maybe your last chance of hope.
      Cheers
      Mikey

@@theropeaccessandclimbingpo2380 100% people should realize some of the implications of trusting their life to equipment, then treating its manufacturer as if they're untrustworthy..... great video and made me think about things :) Appreciate all your content ^_^

@@theropeaccessandclimbingpo2380 having now stumbled across what I believe to be an inciting event for this video (of course it's talking about a problematic general trend of people 'yelpifying' or 'karenifying' feedback to manufacturers), I'd like to modify my commentary/thoughts to be much more in line with the video... failing to reach out for documentation or understanding, especially when using a device out of its intended use-case is really just awful practice.....
adding this thought for those who may come to the video later and to boost engagement :p

Just a little bit out to lunch. You aren't wrong but civility on the internet is optimistic.
At the end of the day we should all be used to taking everything people say with a big pinch of salt and those that try too look good by attacking others don't get that to the rest of us they come across as jerks regardless of whether there is any merit to their criticisms.
