There's a long list of reasons why I really disliked a lot of the creative choices in Coco; most having to do with representation and financial remuneration towards the inspiration subjects, however I actually was happy to hear GB sing this so badly (in and out of the movie). A lot of times, singers get ABSOLUTELY ALL THE GLORY, whereas writers (in this case GB's character Hector) may have infinitely amazing talent but a shit voice, so it fits perfectly with the theme, which is what the Oscars is all about. I wouldn't listen to the soundtrack, but I thought, in this case it was adequately performed.
