    14:50 I disagree wth this one. The trees and bushes block the view onto the acceleration lane and it appears as if there is none. By the point you can see there _is_ an acceleration lane you need to watch out for traffic shouldn't there be an acceleration lane (just as AJ did) thus you cannot notice the acceleration lane. Further, the acceleration lane is super narrow in the beginning only widening _after_ the turn, when the turn is the part that needs to be wider. AJ did the correct thing here in not continuing beyond a blind corner trusting there's gonna be an acceleration lane there but rather slowing down.
    I agree further with AJ that if he had continued to use the acceleration lane, there could've easily been a mark up for passing too close by a stationary vehicle, as the vehicle was not fully out of the acceleration lane.
    It's also very astonishing to me that you need to do an owl360 to move away from a stop but you are happily allowed to change lanes within the process of turning / exiting a round about. This is an unsafe lane change over here.
    And the fact you don't have free choice of lanes within city limits....

    What about the junction at 9:35, I thought you would need to wait for the traffic from the other side to pass before you can turn right, unless there is a traffic light with a green arrow specifically allowing you to turn right straight away?

    Hello Aman, love the videos. I was just wondering what happens on an actual test if another driver does something dangerous to make you harshly brake? Ie, pulling out in front of you on a 50-60mph road, overtaking dangerously etc. Assuming you didn't crash obviously but had to harshly brake with/without checking for vehicles behind, what would actually happen? Terrified of failing my test because of idiots everywhere

    Well, I still learn new things everyday watching your videos, even after 15 years with a license. I wasn't sure what was the anti-lock braking system was (ABS). Probably because I had it disabled on all my cars since I started driving. I know what it is, just not what it was called. I almost got killed because they activated while getting to a stop sign, downhill on a slippery snowy road. Incoming cars were driving about 50mph, I was lucky they saw me sliding and avoided me as I ended up in the middle of the road (they did not have stop signs). Since then, I've been slowing down earlier and more progessively, especially on wet/snowy/dirt roads. Everytime you tell a learner to do that, I'm like "YES, please do, for everyone's sake!!" Great videos by the way, they help so many people, learners and experienced drivers alike!!

    The "two seconds" behind is awful to try and mentally recognize. Trying to calculate 2 seconds is so distracting and requires so much your attention whereas length is much easier to instantly recognize and adjust to.
    The rule I always learned was a car length for every 20mph you're going. So you can easily know "oh, 80mph? That's 4 cars length which is roughly *this* far away". Way simpler and less distracting than counting in your head two seconds while trying to keep focus on your position relative to some random object and also keeping focus on THEIR position relative to the same object.

  • @barsorrro
    @barsorrro Рік тому +8

    Nice and funny! :) One thing that I completely couldn't get was why he always seemed to want to start from the second gear :D. Okay, cars have the reverse in different locations on the gear-change pattern, but the first gear is in the same place in all normal cars, and you'd almost never want to start in second, unless you're used to driving a fairly hefty vehicle, like a big lorry or a bus -- so, I really can't understand where that habit could have come from.

    • @mrplt6302
      @mrplt6302 9 місяців тому +1

      He's saving himself a gear change -- he didn't stall or jerk the car once. It's possible that the car he daily drives has a really short 1st gear where he doesn't really need to use it unless he's on an incline.

    16:00 Chevrons on the road surface are more like 100 yards apart. The idea being is that you should be able to see two chevrons ahead of you between you and the car ahead. The problems are overtakers sometimes do so and then move into your following distance zone just in front of you forcing you to slow down to restore the gap. If you get overtaken by a Lamborghini driving fast you need to speed up enormously to maintain the two chevrons gap.
