What was in common for Vangelis, my father and myself, was a life-long adoration and interest for Cosmos, its vastness and beauty. This is why it was so important for me to create and premiere this (extremely demanding) arrangement for solo guitar and this video.
My father was, aside from engineering, a kind of amateur-astronomer, who introduced me to astronomy and science, in general, as well to art, from my early age. For a long time, we dreamed together of making space discoveries of our own, a space photography and much more, so - in late 70s, after a lots of planning, we finally made an order of a Criterion Dynamax, Schmidt-Cassegrain 8“ telescope, equipped with all necessary and extra accessories. However, eventually, we had to gave up our dream, since in a meanwhile, my father became aware of difficult times coming and presumable coping with finances, as well. The dream was cancelled, but due to unusual circumstances, despite regularly cancelling our order, the telescope, nevertheless, flew across the Atlantic and back. As an unfortunate epilogue, my father just laid down his hand on it, to gave a symbolic, heart-breaking, farewell touch on our years-long dream package at the airport customs, as he later recall it, on sending it back home. Or maybe just - away from a real home. And that was just an episode why, throughout all my life, I love Vangelis and his music so much. On the other point of view, to me, as a young, passionate space-art lover, as well, creating and broadcasting of Sagan’s Cosmos TV series, was a visual adventure, odyssey and revelation by itself, making those emotions over-burst at that age of my youth, when all, naturally, already seemed so magical and epic. So actually, it could be that occasion, in 1980, when I, for the first time, heard divine Vangelis’ music.
I humbly dedicate this video to my father, as a memory of a day he left this world and start his next, even more magnificent journey, I’m sure.

Šta reći, osim da je ovo kosmički lepo. Ovo je dokaz da je kosmos sazdan od priča, a ne od atoma. Pre samog slušanja ove predivne interpretacije, pročitala sam ovaj zadivljujuć tekstualni omaž tvome ocu, i samo mogu da zamislim koliko bi on bio dirnut ovim rečima. Ako danas i pada kiša, to je zasigurno iz razloga što mu je oko zasuzilo od miline kojom je upakovana ova izuzetna posveta.

What a poignant story. I have the good fortune to get to use some very nice telescope gear. I hope you have found some people who are geared up and eager to show you what their scopes can do.
Hey Brian! So great to hear from you again! No unfortunately, but I left Hubble and JWST to finish the job 😆 I was never given such opportunity, actually, and that story remained frozen in time. In our encirclement we were just lone enthusiasts in astronomy. How are you these days?
@@guitar_arrangements Believe it or not (I hardly do) I am suddenly in Spain, because a friend had a bicycle crash, so I came over to take care of her. She will be fine after another month of healing, but extricating ourselves back to California is proving difficult!

@@guitar_arrangements She has been home for a week, she is walking with a cane, and the cast on her arm has been replaced with a brace. We can safely count this as headed for a happy ending - except she is having to seriously consider giving up her favorite activity (bicycling).
