BTECH GMRS-PRO is a great first radio for any smart phone user. So easy yet powerful with great features for the pricepoint. Can even turn one into your Mobile Station with the BTECH UHF amplifier.

    Great and informative video!
I have GMRS radios from Baofeng, Retevis, Radioddity, and Pofung. They all work equally well. The biggest factors that I look for are:
    - removable antennas and sockets that work with commonly available adapters for use with a mag mount antenna
    - a “K” type connector so that more standard accessories can be used
    - dual band reception capability so that I can monitor marine vhf transmissions
    - availability of replacement/extra batteries
    - usb-c charging
    - quick and easy on unit programming with enough menus, but not too many!
Everyone focuses on wattage when buying a GMRS. In my experience that is one of the least important factors. My “3 watt” and “5 watt” radios have the same real world range. In fact that range is not much different in simplex mode than my FRS radios!

Good points, Clyde! Those are all great features to look out for and you’re right, the wattage obsession is a little bit unnecessary.

Just watched your vid. thanks for the info. I'm a real newbie at GMRS and am looking for all the help i can get. Just received my license thanks to your vid on that sub, and am looking to get my 1st radio. I think I've narrowed it down to 2. KG-905G or KG-935G+. I like the G+ for the wp feature but not sure if it is to much for me to understand up front. Id like to push the button and talk and get into repeaters and tones a little down the rd. Mainly interest to use for camping and family if cell or internet service goes down. Which do you think is the go to radio and i hope you are up for more questions because I'm very willing to learn. Thank you and keep the vis coming!!

Great overview, good concise clear talk. Would you do a review on the revolutionary BTech GMRS Pro, it’s mapping features are particularly interesting and not fully utilized yet. I am interested in using it while hiking with a group. It would also be a great radio for search and rescue. Thanks for taking the time to give information about the use of the GMRS family of radios.

Thanks! I'd love to do a review on it, I'll see if I can get it slotted in in the next month or so. Right now, I've only got one contact who's using it, but I also use APRS on the HAM radio side of things for a log of the same uses and I'd love to do a side bye side comparison with them as well.

Which GMRS should I get that’s small, 10watts, water prove, which includes text and maybe GPS location ability. Are baofengs good for distance? What modal ? Thank you

What do you think of the Quansheng UV 5K? 0 to 599 Mhz. Doesn't transmit on all frequencies. Covers Ham and GMRS. Not really legal, but no one seems to care. I check in on the net and the repeater is 30 miles away. Transmission is very good if I'm grounded (barefoot or touching a ground wire). Interested in your opinion. Thanks for your video.

It's from Soundstripe, the music licensing service I use. Can't remember all the specifics, but here's the link. app.soundstripe.com/songs/11630
