thanks for posting this. I got to see this back in the day, and haven't seen it since. Glad to have it here!
Love seeing this as I was at all 5 sessions. In the audience for 4, and I ran camera for this session. I was stage left/audience right, in this quad split my camera is upper right. Obviously it was a dream come true for a Todd fan. I had the advantage of having a, ahem, advance copy of the song demos so I knew what would happen when. I hold this record in a dear place in my heart because we were there for all of it (we were married 6 weeks later and are still going strong). I caught a glimpse of Bob S in the opening lobby footage; RIP my friend.
Wow, that's such an amazing story @gilireland ! I'm honored to have had the opportunity to provide you with a walk down memory lane through my complete upload of the video.
I always enjoy hearing these great stories about TRibe members heartfelt memories.
Hopefully you're a member of one of my TR Facebook groups.
I never really can tell due to the fact that UA-cam channel names aren't used on Facebook.
Nevertheless, thanks so much again for your enthusiasm ! 🙂
Let me ask, if I may:
Is it even remotely possible that full versions of these performances could be released on DVD, or even live-streamed? Second Wind is one of the best-recorded albums Todd has ever done; to be able to see them would be pretty fucking awesome, especially for slobs like me who were NOT there. So … any possibility?? 😬
That's a question I've been asking about for years.
As Todd is not very fond of releasing too much archive material pre-2000, I doubt any full length performances from the 2nd Wind sessions will ever be released, unfortunately.
Still waiting for the video of the 2019 Clearly Human Virtual Tour to see the light of day also.
He's constantly touring, so it takes him forever to get projects completed at any rate, so who knows...??
Brilliant!
ur pfp and username is amazing
@joannl9117
Thank You so much, @joannl9117 🤍
Oh, wait a minute it looks like this was a reply to another subs comment ! 🤭
This is a terrific film. 2nd Wind has been one of my favorites since release, and I could never figure out how it was recorded so cleanly in front of a live audience in a concert hall. Now 30 years later, it all makes sense. Thanks for posting this.
Love his voice
I was there! It was an amazing experience. Don't remember what night.
What is it about Todd? Been fascinated with him since forever. His music rearranges my inner landscape like nobody else. ♥♥♥
So true. It's hard to explain.
It's just something you have to experience on a personal level I suppose. Your quote "his music rearranges my inner landscape like nobody else" is absolutely priceless. I think in that one sentence you've summed it up beautifully ! 🤍💯
didn't know Roger was playing on this album ... pleasant surprise ... this Todd album REALLY gets me singing ....to me that's the ultimate inspiration and emersion ..to become one with the music
Well said, my friend.
2nd Wind is in my top five TR albums, so I totally agree !
Thanks for the post. I always loved the album. I still get to see him once a year somewhere in Northeast Ohio.
My favorite concert ever was at The Civic when he was with the orchestra a few years back. Amazing night. Second favorite was a couple years ago downtown, was either at The Palace or State Theater. You know where I am talking, Playhouse Square.
Fantastic!
Just saw this for the first time yesterday. So triggering. I was there for it all...
This was originally cut for WB as an electronic press kit. But the powers that be at WB liked my cut so much they decided to release it commercially. No I didn’t see any additional money, lol.
It's the price you pay for dedication Ed. They never paid Todd for the most part either, so I'm not surprised.
Ed
Thanks to you I got to be "on stage" as a camera man for this session. What a time it was ....thanks pal!
Wow! at 0:54 it shows Todd's outfit. I was just at the Rock Hall and this is in his display exhibit !!! Second Wind is my most favorite album by Todd. Thanks for sharing!!
That's so cool that you saw that ! Thanks for watching !
I appreciate it 🤝

yes, 2nd wind was a dissapointment, except for the 1st song "If I have to be alone", it's pretty good
@@BPB9973952 To each his own. Myself and most Todd Rundgren fans would tend to disagree though.
One of his best in my personal opinion....
@@JoeyBrunoMusicArchives yep every album is completely different
Was there for every night of the recording. Such a cool time.
That's fantastic !
What a great memory to have, absolutely priceless ! 👍
I was there 3 of the nights, not the one that went sideways, with him pulling songs from the catalogue. What was that night like. Remember what songs he played?
I wasn't there myself Will, so I don't know what songs were performed. I know I've read what they were at some point, but I can't recall the titles.
@@JoeyBrunoMusicArchives I was hoping Tim might see this and make a comment. I was at about 25 Todd/Utopia, or Todd with other people shows while living in San Francisco 1978 thru 1998. Those nights at the Palace of Fine Arts, Todd and everybody in the group was the most fan-friendly ever. I got a backstage pass one night, but you didn't need one. All of them were outside after the shows doing meet-n-greet. This was a party for the fans, with a mini-museum set up out in the lobby. There's a film with some of it. Talked with Todd a couple of times, and meeting Roger was a thrill. I got a bunch of stuff signed.
@@willharris3798 Yeah, looking at the video and hearing the stories, it must have been an incredible run of shows.
I've had my fair share of legendary Todd and Utopia shows her in Philly, (I've lived about 15 minutes from the Tower Theater my whole life), so that's been an advantage, and I did get to meet Todd at length, twice, once in 1974 and again in 1975.
Us TR fans are the tightest group of fans on the planet, for sure Will !

oh Joey, this is fantastic! I didn't know it existed!!
I know, isn't it great !
Just wish it was longer !
😊 🤝
I’m the guy with the long hair and video camera on stage.
Love!!
One of his best albums. Possibly the worst night of my life.
Sorry to hear that. 😮💨
Oy. The stories I could tell ya. Did you read my other posts on this string?...@@JoeyBrunoMusicArchives

I love him!
I couldn't agree more Greta ! Subscribe to my channel.... for so much more Todd Rundgren !
Thank You ! 💫
Heck, the beginning of this video came from Tommy Wisseau's "The Room."
Todd
Wonder if the audience enjoyed Todd’s lectures in between every song.
I've spoken to hundreds of TR fans (as administrator of two Facebook TR groups with 6,500 members), and it's unanimous...
we all love hearing Todd's banter between songs. "Lectures" (as you refer to them) to the audience on those nights, were crucial information, in reference to the recording process and the fact that it wasn't a normal concert experience. It was, in fact a recording "session" as opposed to a live concert.
Everyone in attendance was blown away by the whole experience. So in answer to your question...the "lectures" were thoroughly enjoyed by all...
I don't disagree. To me, the tone of his banter feels serious and slightly annoyed. Maybe it's nerves. Just an observation. @@JoeyBrunoMusicArchives
He was annoyed. And I know why. I was there every night- for my "dear" ex- Roger.@@oranjuly
THANKS for the post ...is this the entire video ?
Well, sort of.
It's the entire video of what was released on the Desktop Collection dvd. I'm sure there's more somewhere in the vault, but highly unlikely it will ever be released. Todd has said many, many times that he isn't fond of revisiting the past, so this is all there is...
“Quietly.” Like he needs her help reminding the audience.
I know, nothing worse than having to sit or stand through
a show next to a group of know it-alls and loudmouths
@@JoeyBrunoMusicArchives true. True.
admit it's awesome , or owe sum
Great album and production. And the ladies were looking and sounding great that night, especially Jenni Muldaur, lordy, lordy.
crazyelf62.....I couldn't have put it better myself !
Lordy, Lordy.... indeed.
I loved this period, the Nearly Human/Second Wind Era.
Band was always so tight and just the cream of the crop of incredible musicians.
Todd was in great form I thought, some of my favorite live performances from those tours.....
@@JoeyBrunoMusicArchives I can't believe 2nd Wind is/was his last charted album in the US. Crazy. Well, at least he is now in the RR Hall of Fame. Even though he will not serve. LOL
@@crazyelf62 As someone once said...the state of affairs is really lousy ! 👍
Yeah- she "lordy lordy"-ed her way out of a job that night...@@JoeyBrunoMusicArchives
Cool concept, but how sterile and soul-less those80/90s electronic drums sound… 😢
Hmm... I'm confused.
That's Tubes drummer Prairie Prince and he's DEFINITELY not playing electronic/programmed/triggered drums. That is his Yamaha drum kit and every note is produced by a real drum kit.
Maybe you meant sterile production ? The album was recorded, mixed and mastered digitally, which does tend to give it a very midrange fidelity.
It was one of the first records to be recorded that way and the technology was still a bit iffy...
So, Todd, with all due respect, who did you have to screw over to get your money. Or is it just that you don’t respect the games less scrupulous people force you to play to succeed. I love your musical genius but your social intelligence is lacking.
OK @michaelolz , you get the award for "strangest" comment ever written on one of my uploads. His money ?
Are you sure you weren't confused and meant to write this on a Bruce Springsteen or U2 video ? In fact, if you knew anything about Todd Rundgren, then you would know he really isn't money motivated at all.
No more or no less than other artists of his stature. So in reference to your comment, which makes about as much sense as the scribblings of a five year old child, I suggest you read some background material on Mr. Rundgren before writing such a fictional comment.
I would be curious to know if any other artists you feel the same way about who actually ARE deserving of such animosity.
"with all due respect" ???
Where might I find this so-called respect within your comment, because truthfully,
I'm not seeing it. Now, spewing hatred is something I see plenty of, but respect ? Nope, don't see any of that. Not one bit.
In the end, it matters not what you or anyone else thinks of Todd as far as I'm concerned.
I'm a devoted fan of his music, lyrics, guitar playing and production skills, and I couldn't care less about his personal life
which I feel is none of my business and not something I care to ruminate about, especially on a UA-cam video.
