I think this song is about getting cheated on by someone who always preached about being hurt in past relationships. I think the "sin" in the "quiet bed" is referring to his ex sleeping with someone else. His ex is hypocritical bc she was hurt in the past but then turns around and hurts him (hence why she needs to say a prayer for herself) The person he's singing about not only hurt him but re-opened breakup wounds that had healed from past relationships, making them even worse (turning scars into a fire). I could be way off, but either way this song is DEEP and I love it 🙌🏾

Alright, this is just something that came to mind while repeating the video and reading your lyrics. Others may view it in a sense of a heartbreak, etc.
To me, it represents life in general. A life of self- discovery. It may or may not relate to me personally. It may even relate to you. You choose what you think it is.
Each scene creates a story of an individual's journey in life. A life of feeling lost/inadequate, conflicted in trying to find your purpose or who you are as a person. It all begins in an OCEAN, with rough waves crashing onto you... pushing you down deeper into the ocean. A multitude of things are frightening you and are drowning you: the uncertainty of your future, failures that make you question your worth or if it worth moving forward, being despised or undervalued, etc. They are hindering you from reaching the surface. You are contemplating whether or not you want to stay underwater or swim with all your strength to the surface. It then dawns on you that you absolutely refuse to be beaten down by these strong waves of obstacles and you choose to swim to the surface, then to the shore. At last, you are able to breathe as you have difficulty catching your breath.
You now have chosen to embark on a journey of self-discovery and seeking your purpose, regardless of how oblivious, adrift you are in the vast DESERT. You are alone, with no guidance. You have no idea where to begin, but what matters is that you began. You are presently walking through the desert. It is desolate, empty, and bleak. There seems to be no end. Your feet is sliding against the sand. It may seem you are dry, but remnants of hesitations from those waves still linger within; you often fall down, kneeling on the sand, but it merely emphasizes how humanly imperfect we are. You then tell yourself to stand up, because your tenacity and determination remains existentent. You continue to indefatigably search for your purpose, obtain a clearer understanding of who you are, and accept your flaws because that is what makes us human.
At last, you have grasped a vivid sense of you. Your foundation and footing is solid. You've reached the point in life where doors of endless possibilities begin to appear. They were never closed, yet just waiting for you...the moment you decided to swim to the surface. The ground beneath your feet begins to sprout GRASS and spreads around you. You have created a world, your world. Now that you have a solid foundation, chapters in your life emerge ahead of you. Each chapter has its own unique journey in molding the person you are. In addition, your duty in each chapter is to cultivate the land of grass you are standing on. Why? Because within those few seconds in the music video, from 2:25 - 2:28, Leroy picks up sand from the shore and drops in on the grass. That sand plays a crucial role in your life. It epitomizes where you came from; sand to grass (dust to life). Keep in mind where you came from because it reminds you why you do what you do and why it is important to remain grounded in the path we are on. With the newfound mindset and outlook on life due to your resilience, you are now able to move MOUNTAINS.
In summary, what matters is what we tell or "preach" ourselves. We are our own preacher.
Well, that is my view and idea of what each scene meant to me. It probably has nothing to deal with the lyrics, haha. Isn't that the beauty of music and visuals arts combined? In my case, just where & how this video was filmed. The purpose of each scene in a music video causes whoever watches it to interpret it differently, according to their personal thoughts.
