  • It’s Your Call is a weekly ACBL Series, in which Kai and a special guest put their heads together to try and find an optimal solution to a multiple-factor bidding problem!
    This week, Kai welcomes William, A very prominent Bridge teacher from Down Under in Australia! Kai knows William from the online Twitch Bridge community William played a major role in growing. Every day during COVID games would be hosted and the community would come and play and this is where Kai learned most of what he knows! William today was faced with Flannery a fairly old school convention that opens 2♦ on a hand with 11-15 HCP and 5♥ 4♠. Will the specifics of the bid help or only cause more conflicting confusion??     It's SCISSORS!!!!!!! Love the hats! You two are a dynamic duo! The coffee mugs with the twitch emotes is great too! Scissors being such a joker by switching coffee mugs mid-conversation!

    Unlucky layout. Both opponents had absolute maximums. But wouldn't be too worried, everyone should be in game with these hands. Can't be too mad that we let them off the hook this time.

    East's hand looks way too strong for Flannery. That void makes the hand worth 18 or 19 points with a fit in either major.

    Should N have pulled 3SX to 4C if they were worried their trump holding wasn't strong enough to beat the contract?

      Right in what actually happened at the table, my partner was in a completely new scenario and thought that my double was penalty. I think they got to this by reverting back to our agreement that doubles of 3S and higher are penalty.
