My dear Mom loved to garden so this quote reminds me of her. Thank you for bringing that memory to me. I love the colors of the flowers and all the sparkle and the spider web and bugs. TFS!
Thank you Pam. It's wonderful when everyday things bring back cherished memories, and I'm glad that today's piece did that for you. Glad you liked it :-)
I just love the tiny details, like the spider, caterpillers and spider web, just what this piece needed, enjoyed watching how you make it all come together.... thanks again and again for all your inspiration... just what we need.
Thanks Dorothy. I've been looking for an excuse to use those adorable little caterpillar stamps since I got them, and this seemed the perfect piece :-)
You are so clever and talented and so patient! It’s amazing to see how you blend multiple colours with pencils and your attention to detail second to none. Love your work!
Precioso, me encantan los colores que ha dado, y la telaraña con ese brillo,... me hace sentir abrir la puerta del jardín y encontrar la primavera, con el rocío de la mañana
Super demo of layering up coloured pencils colours. Just love your work and your generosity of showing with absolute clarity the colours you are using.
Thanks very much. I drool over everyone else's stamps too, lol. I do love the JOFY flowers, they are so whimsical and wonderful to colour. I would love a few more sets, but I'm on a no buy at the moment, lol
Love this tag, its so pretty, I also like your color combinations and all the details, they all work together to create a lovely piece of art. Thank you.
lol Von. I'm not much of a spider fan either, but they don't tend to move very much on art work, lol I do love their webs though, I find them intriguing and beautiful to look at, especially when they are covered in morning dew and glistening in the sun.
This may sound strange, but I really liked it BEFORE the coloring. Either way, more outstanding work. The spider really set it off. Thanks for sharing more of your work.
the spider is the perfect touch!! They have a place in this world and they do soooo much for the garden...creepy little critters but I LOVE to find a web that has caught the dew in the morning.....it is such a beautiful sight to see and the work that goes into it...much like your art...its all in the details!! xoxo stephie
Thank you very much Stephie. I love seeing spider webs too. They are so intricately woven and so delicate. Amazing how they all know how to produce one without ever being shown how. Nature is wonderful :-)
This is so lovely. Thank you for taking spider webs out of Halloween and putting them back where they belong:in the garden. I always enjoy your videos. Thank you for sharing.
Yes, Spring is taking it's time to get here this year. Mother nature does not like to be rushed apparently, lol Glad you liked the tag, and thanks for watching :-)
Your attention to detail sets your work apart from others. The garden effect is pronounced when you add the spider and caterpillars. Excellent color choice makes everything pop. It is such a pleasure to watch you create! Simply beautiful!
Such another amazing piece. I love everything about it plus the fact the spring may actually be on it's way. We had 3" of snow this week. yuk. the sparkle pen really adds to it and I love the little critters. Your coloring is impecable. Fab !!
We had more snow at the beginning of the week too, but it seems to have warmed up a little now, so I'm hoping Spring is going to make an appearance at last. Glad you liked the tag, and thanks for watching :-)
Arghhhh! More bugs! 😱😱😱 Beautiful project despite the creepy crawlers and I love how you sparkled the spider's web. Makes it so much less horrifying 😂. I'm going to borrow that idea next Halloween. The colors on the flowers are simply gorgeous. Love this - TFS ❤️
Love your flowers, buds, catepillar, spider and web!! You look so pretty today, with your lavender sweater and pink nails! Watching you shade with Prismas was amazing - so many layers yet no wax buildup. Amazing! And how do you do that so easily?! This is a video I will watch many times!
Always love everything .. sometimes you use the Archival Ranger ink and sometimes the Versafine .. what have you seen to be the difference? I only have the Archival and wonder if the Versafine would be better. Maybe you mentioned it and I just didn't catch it.
Archival can be used on non porous surfaces, so whenever I am working over an acrylic paint background I use the Archival Black. However, Versafine is a much blacker ink that gives a more solid impression, so wherever I can I use versafine. Unfortunately, it only dries on a porous surface, so I cannot use it over acrylics as it will not dry. Whenever I am working directly onto paper, or over distress inks, water based sprays etc, I will choose Versafine in preference to Archival. Hope that answers your question :-)
Thank you Laura. Most of my inspiration simply comes through playing with my supplies. I usually get a few things out, decide on colours, and go from there :-)
Stunningly Beautiful... My one question is what is the reason you stamp your images in Versafine Onyx Black on the cardstock as opposed to Archival black?
Thanks Susan. I use Archival ink when stamping over non porous surfaces such as over acrylic paint as it is a permanent ink that will dry on that surface. Versafine is much darker and blacker ink that gives far crisper, solid images. Unfortunately, it will only dry on porous surfaces, so I cannot use it on acrylic paint. Whenever I am working with a porous surface however, Versafine is always my preferred ink.
Love this project Rachel, could I ask what brand of acrylic paints you would recommend for art journalling as I'm buying new ones at the weekend and thought I'd ask for your opinion, please 😀
Glad you liked it Cathi. For acrylic paints in a journal you want ones that will not stick your pages together, and that usually means the cheaper brands. They have a higher chalk content and a non sticky finish. I like Americana Craft Paints, and also PaperArtsy Fresco Finish. Dylusions are good for bright colours too. I would stay away from Golden Fluid Acrylics for journaling, unless you cover them with Matte Medium afterwards. They are artist quality paints and have less filler (hence the higher price), but they can stick your pages together because of it. Hope that helps :-)
Hi Rachel! I thought I should let you know that I'm a fairly new subscriber, but I've been bing-watching your videos! I love all of your mixed media work! I like how you now do a voice over and fast forward through repetitive things too. I'm fairly new to doing mixed media art and so I've been getting lots of great ideas and tips from watching all of your videos. One question for you, is there a reason why you use Glossy Accents as an adhesive so often? I thought that was more of a decorative glue and probably more expensive than using other types to attach pieces. Just wondering! Thanks!
Thank you for subscribing Gail and welcome to my channel. I'm glad you are enjoying my content, and that it's giving you ideas of your own. I use glossy accents as an adhesive because it is really strong and reliable :-)
A lovely reminder of what spring is supposed to look like. Beautiful colors.
Thank you very much :-)

Thank you Gillian. Cutting those tiny circles was a bit of a challenge, but where there's a will, there's a way, lol
You are so clever and talented and so patient! It’s amazing to see how you blend multiple colours with pencils and your attention to detail second to none. Love your work!
