We purchased 2 of these pillows and I was a little put off at first. However, after a couple of evenings of adjusting to the newness of the shapes, I have decided I love it. My pillows did not have any smell that I could detect. And after the first nights sleep the pillow seemed to become really firm in most area of its designs. Its because its such an odd set of shapes combined into one pillow, I think it makes it difficult to adjust to. My husband is still not willing to say either yeah or nay ! The jury is still out. Just got my Sutera 2days ago. So far I’m not convinced. I haven’t slept through the night yet. It’s a bit hard for me and a little too high. I’m really considering returning mine.
Thx for the honest review. I am in the search for another pillow. I have the miracle bamboo, the my pillow, multiple memory foams, regular firm foam, soft foam, a wedge form pillow and a body pillow. I switch on the regular. May try this.
Thanks for the review. I am pretty satisfied with it, but it does take some getting used to. I find I dont just lie on it but scrunch it up into diffent configurations every few minutes. The nooks and crannies help fit whatever contour my body needs, Not sure that makes total sense, but it seems to work ok. It is just a pillow afterall...
Free to me via my sis. I think I like, but it is confining. Nothing wrong with my regular pillow. What did people use before pillows were mass produced? Ah yes, duck and goose feathers in a burlap, cotton or silk case! They made their own!

I also saw other people talking about how they don’t like that the company doesn’t offer pillow cases, and basically recommended to buy a new pillow if your covering gets worn.

I just purchased it and not sure what my experience will be. I am a back and side sleeper but having neck issues and can't sleep on my side for now. For side sleepers, the side illustration you showed will cause neck issues long term. Your arm should not be under your neck. If it is, your neck is too high and not in line with your spine. An orthopedic pillow takes some time to get used to. Either way, your experience is your experience. Will report back and see if I love or don't. Thanks for your review.

For the health of your neck and nerves, we should never sleep with our arms above shoulder height and never sleep with our forearms or hands underneath our heads.
Go back and look at your video when you put your arm underneath your pillow you got your neck at a 45° angle almost at least a 90 that's not comfortable or male excuse me it may be comfortable but it's not good on your neck your neck is at a 45° angle at least that can't be good for your neck you may like it but it ain't good for it and a long one you're going to have problems you can't have your head and neck arched up with your arm underneath the pillow at 45°. It's going to cause you problems in the long run you'll see
Yeah I been looking at them and my Visual take away is, they look too thin. And doesn't look like it would take to a regular pillow case. Not a Fan of that Idea either.
I have spent multiple hundreds of dollars on side-sleeping pillows, trying to find the perfect loft and softness. I was hoping the Sutera would be the answer. Unfortunately, it's a disappointment. First of all, it looks ridiculous, as if it was designed by a kindergartner or a chimpanzee. More likely, it was designed by a computer that has never needed a pillow.... because I honestly don't know how a normal human head is supposed to fit on it. The loft is too high for me on one side and too low on the other. And, the memory foam is a little too unforgiving. More wasted money and I'm still searching for the perfect side-sleeping pillow.
I hear you! The best I have found was the Miracle Bamboo... Is it great? No. However, it is pretty good. The Sutera was a total joke. If you find the "great" pillow, please pass it along. Thanks for watching!
I’m waiting for mine..I like thinner pillows..the one I have now is called the Air Max ( I think)..has little things like a bean bag..I like it but a bit beat up now
I bought this pillow 11 months ago. The first half of the first month I thought it was great -I was sleeping on my back. Then one night I must've moved because I woke up with a HORRIFIC sore neck! And it is STILL SORE 11 MONTHS LATER!! I have been to the Chiropractor and physical therapy --I NEVER had a sore neck before --this pillow ruined me. Whatever you do --don't risk your neck like I did. I am in need of help!!

There's no "trial". They don't return opened items. So if it doesn't work for you, you're out the money. If you ask for a refund they'll offer you a 30% refund to keep the pillow.
Much ado about nothing. I smelled nothing. Dismayed over no pillow case provided? Use one of your own, like I did. Too thin? Do what I did and put a cheap thin, normal pillow under it. I like mine.
Thanks for the input. I'm glad you liked yours! I still think for that price it needs to include a fitted- washable pillow cover (I guess I should have used the word "cover" not "case). To me, adding another pillow under the Sutera kinda defeats the purpose of the Sutera. Never-the-less, thanks again for commenting.
I have a bad neck and really bad shoulder from a car accident and I was looking for a better pillow and bought two of these one for my husband one for myself and I regret it. Do not buy this pillow it is not worth it.
I don’t like it. I sleep on my side. It feels like a big lump is in the way of my face. I can’t get past that feeling, and my head tilts down. I can’t sleep on my back or stomach. I’m really disappointed.
Yeah, it is that foam that has to inflate... Kinda like a mattress in a box. It comes vacuum sealed. Once the bag opens, it begins to inflate. Thanks for the comment!
Just unbox my Sutra pillow and the chemical smell was overwhelming so I decided to wash it, big mistake now I have a sponge fill with water, in my opinion this pillow is a chemical hazard, don’t buy it.
I understand what you are saying. However, I like for my head to be elevated and supported. The Sutera left my head slanted downward. Thanks for the comment and thanks for watching.
Bamboo pillows jack up the average head and neck way too high to keep proper alignment and most bamboo pillows don't respond to the pressure of the average head enough and push back, putting pressure on the brain stem. Bamboo might be good for a mattress, but it's not good for necks, and neither is the memory foam found in most pillows.
I'm a side sleeper and have neck issues. Using this pillow is life changing for me.

I had tried the buckwheat pillow which was really great but heavy. That thing weighed a ton lol. But I love the way it molded your head.

Currently they offer a special pillowcase which is tailored to the shape of the pillow itself

It is not inflating, inflate means to put air into something. It is expanding as it has been compressed for shipping purposes
