I don't have autism but my best friend does. In middle school he got bullied badly for being 'weird' and 'childish' and because when he was nervous he would stutter. At that point no one knew what was wrong with him. Every day was a struggle for him.
He got depression, panic attacks and anxiety through bullying. So I can relate to you through him. How the whole 'groups' thing. No one wanted me around and it was so humiliating having to ask every time if I could join their group. And I just got passed around. One time this girl actually said to me; 'you can't be with us this week because you were in our group last week so it's not fair if we have to have you this week.' Mostly because I was friends with 'the freak'. But he is the only person in my life that I can be myself around.
He done so much for me, including teaching me to accept people for who, what and how they are. He is my inspiration and now you're one too. I think you're very brave.
