@@learnelectronics Hey. I talked with one seller of this stations. They told me that some of them have to dark "glass" in front of the display. That's why they are dim. I tested on one of my station, and replaced the "glass" with a clear one, and the display gets very very bright. So that's the problem with yours. To dark "glass" in front of the display.

The K series tip gives you a lot of surface area to work with. You do want to use them for the right things; ie: wide spades, reflowing - smds, long rows of pins, etc... swiping SMCs, etc..
I believe some of the early models had QC issues with some displays being really weak, made much worse by a *heavily* smoked piece of plexi in front of the display. If you end one of those, you can improve it by removing the smoked glass alltogether or replacing it with a clear piece.

The station just keeps on power cycling when u plug in the iron. I saw another video with a similar issue so I've bought another t12 iron hoping that will fix it. the station itself seems glitchy as sometimes it freezes and i have to manually restart it. It has been my experience that the more complicated or tool is the shorter its lifespan. So an old school soldering iron with nothing but a Transformer and a thermistor would last virtually forever. This one, I don't think will last quite as well. And not because it's not well built, but just because it has become overly complicated.

You can’t beat the price on the tips through Banggood. I could get 3 or 4 of them for the price of one of the ts100 tips. That would be nice. Great video Paul.
So far it's a really nice station. I hate the tip they sent with it but I have some more coming. I think banggood sent out about two dozen of these for review because I've been seeing them everywhere.
Yah, I've seen that. I'm still going to stick with my military issue Weller. I can't adjust the temp but it's been working for me for about 40 years. I finally put a new tip on it last summer. Like you I'm finicky about the tips!
@@georgechambers3197 Even as a multidecade user of something known, I highly advise giving these a spin. The cartridge type tips really make a world of difference. Personally I would not have sought out this iron for myself and purchased it. But because it came free in the mail, and because it works quite well, I will use it.
I am puzzled why there is no stand/holder for the wand if you are not using it? Does that bother?, because I am used to that. Good upload Paul since I am still looking for a nice and better soldering station, so thanks :)
@@learnelectronics To me that seems like an odd kind of saving for such a higher class product. And with the tight space I have on my bench I wouldn't like that; I recently burned a new probe for my oscoop with my iron while I did not pay it too much attention (and I do have a holder for it). I don't like a 350 C degrees wand laying around overhere. However I do like the compactness of this unit :)
I think it's a good idea to not include a stand, Banggood have many different types, so you can buy which one you prefer. Rather than them selecting one crappy for you.
Heck yeah! I just got mine from Banggood last week! Actually, Banggood said they were out of stock and asked if I wanted a refund... so I took the refund and ordered one for more money on Amazon... That one arrived broken - had to resolder the tilt-switch in the handle since the wires are like 32AWG and must tear when assembling. Anyway, then a week later my Banggood iron arrived... so now I have a spare, or a gift. Those looking to order one, check the model number - the 2.1S (the one in this video) is the most recent version. Can confirm it melts solder in

Mine is really bright... I mean, I'm not outside in direct sunlight but it's not like in this video at all. I think there is a problem with this unit. I can read mine perfectly while shining a 80W (equiv) bulb at it from 1' away.

Sucks as I waited 2 weeks for the thing to arrive from Banggood. Very disappointed. The menu also has 21 options vs the 19 shown in all the manuals that I can find. Used the link to buy it.....
Very good soldering station after a month and half wait to get it. Banggood was a bit sketchy on what was in stock saying it was when it was not. I had to threaten them with a complaint via PayPal and it miraculously showed up very quick. Other than crappy shipment time I like it a lot. Bought two genuine Hakko t12 tips, a dL 32 and a dL 52 and they work great with it. Bought the 12 tip package from Banggood too, ok, but not as nice as the Hakko tips. So far it handles some heavy point to point stuff I’ve used it on. The boost feature is killer when you need a little extra. Make sure you jam the tips down quite hard or it will error quite regularly. I took my handle apart and sanded that schmoo that seems to be on all this Chinisium metal that doesn’t make good electrical connections. Tip heat correction that stores for each tip is great. Seems to repeat the heat from one tip to the other once calibrated.
Haha, I had issues with Banggood's stock too, and now I have 2 of them... I didn't complain or anything, they just said it was out of stock and offered a refund, so I ordered one from Amazon, then my Banggood one showed up later. Meh.

Are you a manufacturer? Don't High Frequency stations use tips that only work at one temperature? Which High Frequency station do you recommend? Thanks.
I love your videos; please do not stop. For what it is worth, I pulled the cover off my KSGER unit and found the 400V, 68mf capacitor leaking; I just ordered a replacement capacitor. I had not used the station more than 20 minutes. I had seen another video of someone with the same 400V, 68mf capacitor leaking. Someone wrote on that site they thought KSGER was installing used capacitors in some units. The units offer phenomenal bang for the buck - when they work properly. If you buy one of these stations, I recommend taking the cover off and doing a brief inspection after you run the station for a few minutes. (In the case of the other videographer, he saw magic smoke coming out almost immediately after powering up the unit, and he shut off the station. Upon inspection, it appeared the capacitor had been punctured. Here is a link to his video: ua-cam.com/video/cowgbwU3b5c/v-deo.html With that said, I am still happy with my purchase (from Banggood).

It's small and compact...but (personal opinion here), i do not need all that functionality. The station i have works great and is $60 (was $50 when i purchased)...the X-Tronic Model #3020-XTS, i would personally reccomend to anyone in the market.
Personally I would not have sought out this iron for myself and purchased it. But because it came free in the mail, and because it works quite well, I will use it.
Thats 20 more than i paid for this station..
Thanks for this review
I am puzzled why there is no stand/holder for the wand if you are not using it? Does that bother?, because I am used to that. Good upload Paul since I am still looking for a nice and better soldering station, so thanks :)
It did not come with one.
I agree. Up is ON. Down is OFF. Assembly mistakes like that bug me.
Nice unit.
Can confirm it melts solder in
TheResidentSkeptic - Same exact thing happened to me. I’m about done with Aliexpress and Bangood, willing to pay a little more and get it quicker and some customer service
Nice. If I didn't have Hakko and Weller soldering stations, I'd order one of these with different tips. The included one looks like crap.
It does, but I have new ones that just came in today. I'll be trying them out and reporting back.
@@learnelectronics Let us know which ones you like.
Pretty nice soldering station, man. And it's pretty cheap! I want to find a good one with a heat gun. 😊

Apparently, KSGER made an SMD rework one, which uses the same case, but they even, for 150 ish dollars, have a big all in one that's silver.
What a coincidence ! I just reviewed one of these too a couple of days ago, I have a user manual linked in the description of my video if anyone needs it.
There have been quite a few reviews. Post the link to manual if you don't mind...
Is it possible to increase the brightness ? I don't normally solder in the pitch dark so I can see the set temperature !
Mine is really bright... I mean, I'm not outside in direct sunlight but it's not like in this video at all. I think there is a problem with this unit. I can read mine perfectly while shining a 80W (equiv) bulb at it from 1' away.
@@TRS-Tech Having a similar unit with the same display and it's bright. Seems to be a problem of the individual device.
@@tastenheber lol Oh well. I don't have to bother now. I had a Hacko iron but no base station. Found a project box, a little thermostat module, op amp, triac and mosfet so I made my own base. I have a soldering iron thermocouple and tested it last night. Its only 3 degrees C out at 350 and 2 degrees C out at 200 so that will do me. Its working a treat. Saved myself a few quid there.
really cool review
Thank you very much, I appreciate that.
That flux makes it a two year piece of trash because it corrosive. You breath pretty heavy like I use to. But I went to orange theory and got better. It turned out super fun.
Just got mine. Chinese only!!! Option 10 which should be the language selection only switches from one type of Chinese to another. No english!! Sucks as I waited 2 weeks for the thing to arrive from Banggood. Very disappointed. The menu also has 21 options vs the 19 shown in all the manuals that I can find. Used the link to buy it.....
Thank
Hi Paul,
Again an appreciated contribution! Thanks!
Here’s a dumb... Does the display have a tinted protector on it?
Later,
Nick
It doesn't seem to.
Meh.
All that isolation between the high and low side? Yeah, check out the span of the heat sink across the whole thing.
Paul, just be aware bang good works with the supplier to get the best samples they can for reviewers, cause they know youtubers are gonna rip the snot outta them looking for anything off, be interesting to compare it with a normal joe blow anonymous order.
I have one I just bought from Amazon. I will take a look inside and see how it compares.
@@Techieguy93 I bought one from bangood.. it wass back ordered.. and its just as well done.
Banggood was the absolute worse knockoff Chinese online store I've used. Ever. Should absolutely be your LAST resort to buy anything from them.
Actually you can buy it in China , it's cheaper. By the way , t12 is out of time now , we are trying to make High frequency Soldering Station, hh (sorry about my poor English :) )
Are you a manufacturer? Don't High Frequency stations use tips that only work at one temperature? Which High Frequency station do you recommend? Thanks.
Cold = cod. Sold = sod. Gold = God. Yes ? No ? Solder has an 'L' in it.
Actually, it was the 400V, 68uf capacitor that leaked.

Also available as a kit including a couple of extra different tips for even less money. And it's only a wiring kit so may as well spend even less and just wire it yourself.
got the same one. really good for the price!
It was the wrong tip for the job.
Indeed it was.
I know some hippies that would love this soldering station
Thank you for sharing your review. I also got this device a few months ago. Made some pictures: imgur.com/a/n3hoLSV
I'm using it now as my regular soldering station.
There is also a similar station with less features, using a STC microcontroller: imgur.com/a/JRNycxh
(At first power up a resistor on the power supply board of the STC station exploded and I got a new board from the seller to replace it.)
I just like my ersa picco eith ground mod
no fume extractor..... hazard to the lungs!
Up being on is a US thing, to me down is on, or maybe I’m upside down? Lol.
Here’s in Melbourne, Australia on is down too.
Well you're on the opposite side of the planet from me yeah? Its summer there? That explains it lol.. I enjoyed your review on the unit by the way very thorough as are all of your videos.
In the US we definitely like up to be on. Just like the toilet paper, we think up over is the correct way.
:)
That's a ntc not a mov
Good review.!!!!
